    I am so blown away by this. I had an uncle who everybody called a dreamer, crazy, etc., and he was the one who introduced me to the concept of earth ships. Always wanted one, but haven't gotten there yet. This is just a level of amazing I've never seen before. Congratulations on a brilliant project! Cheers

    Inspiring!I began a tire retainer wall for my old shed, and now, am using rambed earth tires for a foundation to build a greenhouse around the outside of it which I hope will warm the shed on sunny days.Great way to relieve stress and get fit.I am excited. SO MANY TIRES, SO MANY IDEAS, AND ITS FREE!

      I live in the mountains of northern New Mexico not far at all as the crow flies from these Taos Earthship homes. In the small town of Pecos. I moved here 15 years ago from east Texas. You can definitely do it but it helps if you know some people here. I was told by many people before I moved here that without a lot of money it's impossible to do it but I proved everyone wrong. But it took hooking up with the right people. If you are still interested in moving up this way if you haven't already since you posted this 3 years ago I might could be of some help. Don't hesitate to ask if you want.

    I love the comments on the gradual shifts around 7:20. We have very low single use plastic use in our home, our trash is 1/4 compared to most of what I see our neighbors putting out on trash day and we don't even feel like we're doing anything special because we've adopted these strategies slowly over time. For someone new it might seem like a huge effort, but it's really just learning and practice and the actual effort is low once you're there.

Looking forward to seeing more of these houses regenerating the areas around them. Fine example, Ryan.

    this is so amazing! The "job" you do Dylan! To show to the world each end every off grid possibilities. Its just what i do. I were researching a lot about earthships, tree houses, tiny houses on wheels, mini eco houses, hobbit houses, rv-s, camper vans, caravans, static caravans... All is so amazing. I really cant stand the system anymore, im stuggling to do it over and over again every day...and i keep asking myself every day was it the last one?...but not there yet... At the moment i live in London im only 24 and a nanny with no saved money and no driving license.. and trapped in the big city life's problems such as incredibly high rent and i cant live my soul's passion. I have the goal set that i definitely will escape the system with going off grid. I dont know how im gonna do it but im gonna do it. Such an inspiration when i see videos of likeminded people.. keeping me up and keep going.

      Good luck... these in my opinion are the most efficient by far... but if you want the absolute best with security and fortification youre going to have to go underground... you cant hit what you cant see... but if you want to be as normal as possible with still being off grid... this is best... about 10 k people a year are becoming full on preppers... 100k are saving up for at least a bug out plan and food storage... 1million are saving up for 3 months food camping gear and a gun... 10 million are saving up 3 days worth of food 3 months worth of cash and 3 weeks worth of water. 100m are saving up fir 3 days of food... extra... and 1 month of bills... 1b are thinking about it.

    The dirt will slowly push those tires in, just like you see happening in old basements. But a basement wall is solid concrete usually, those are just stacked tires. However, A+ for effort, spirit, commitment, and goals.

      The beauty of this system is that the black water and grey water would be filtered and sent to the aquaponics garden to fertilize the plants. Those plants would then ensure a food supply. Everything about this system is meant to allow you to be completely off-grid and completely self-sustainable. Some earthships also use the methane as a heating source for cooking.

    Great work, when I was 12 years old I helped a neighbor start to build their earth home with tires. We get a 1/4 of the way done with the foundation and the husband got leukemia and he went down hill fast. He died and his wife said her husband had the plan for the house in his mind and that she no longer wanted to continue to build the house with the tires. So she decided to build the earth home with cement blocks and we buried the current tires the were packed with dirt all ready, and the pile of around 3000 tires we found a tire recycling company that bought them for $1.00 a tire. And I remember helping load them. I now own a 1800 old hotel that the sand stone foundation is falling in and just recently thought to rebuild the fallen in portion of the foundation with used tires packed with dirt.

    ugh, I have built 3 of these very very simply and with reused materials and there is NO way to build these for under $10,000.00 because you must take into account the car maintenance on your car if you are off grid, the fact you are the one doing the labor which if you are NOT working, your daily needs...best of luck to you and I am all for earthships, but it needs to be made clear.....these are NO simple build or task.

    • @NagualWarrior
      @NagualWarrior 2 місяці тому +1

      Technically you could gather all these materials free with the exception of straw for the cob, cornerstones and maybe some lumber.

    • @roostertheastronaut4513
      @roostertheastronaut4513 19 днів тому

      @@NagualWarriorYou save money on materials but you're gonna have to spend hundreds of hours pounding dirt into tires to get your walls up. Usually these are built with crews of dozens over the course of months. My point being you can save a lot of money on materials but they have a LOT of labor involved

    Is there a centralized resource for learning about the legalities of this sort of idea? I know that there are various legal complications dealing with building codes and the like. I have read and studied enough to be confident in starting the process of building and et cetera but unsure of the likelihood of losing the work put in to that point...
