As a srilankan this never fails to bring a happy tear unto my eyes. Us srilankans are blessed with spices and food, we dont eat out as much from fast food restaurants and restaurants cause we love cooking and food to us is an art not just food. Every meal eaten at home fills not only our tummies but our minds and heart as well.
@@PatrickBateman97 what country are you from? No offense but you seem to be a Neanderthal. The curry powder we use here itself consists of 12 different spices grinded and mixed and that itself is just one ingredient out of an average of 7 spices we use for our basic curry dishes. We at home prefer to make our own curry powder than buy from the shop cause it's more healthier and fresher that way and you can add your own twists. Again that's only one ingredient, we also prefer to grind our own tumeric etc. So kindly learn to cook before you speak or don't at all.
@@idealist420 Which just further reinforce the point - you have to have large supplies of various herbs, and powders in your pantry regularly just to make you home made curry, thus not really that easy to cook if you are thinking what to cook out of the blue
I always loved Dani. I cannot rememeber which season she was in (many years ago). But i always loved her. She was very respectful and bubbly. Other reason i loved her was her admiration for Sri Lanka. Being a Sri Lankan watching her all those years back made me very happy. She actually does Sri Lankan cooking right. There is a video where she makes sri lankan pumpkin curry. It was very similar to the real, traditional way of making the pumpkin curry in Sri Lankan villages.
Dani Venn is part of 2011 batch (Season 3) where she finished 4th runner up. The other notable contestants of her batch were the eventual grand winner Kate Bracks, her fellow 2020: Back To Win season contestant Hayden Quinn and lastly the 1st runner up & 2022: Fans and Favorites season 11th placer Michael Weldon.
Dani was in Season 3 . She once cooked Srilankan food for Dalai Lama in that season and won that challenge. She said Kumar taught her how to cook Srilankan food inside Masterchef house. Dani is originated from Vietnam and didn’t know much about Srilankan food. I think Kumar ( who is a very humble person) is the guy who gave her the inspiration. So happy to see these contestants again 😊😊❤❤
Yes it is related, Indian and Sri Lankan food is cooked using similar ingredients found in the sub continent. That being said, both are very different in cooking styles and flavor. So they are different, but still related. Just my two cents.
when people say they like either of Indian , Pakistani, Sri lankan, or Bangladeshi food, its make all of us in the subcontinent Happy.
I'm not surprised. Sri lankan cuisine is really the best
