@@kingfuzzy2 Commander isn't casual it will is a format with a wide range of power levels. Saying it's causal when some people value winning more than others is ridiculous. I doubt it would've mattered, since he would've just not played it, but Kilby shouldn't have been able to tap his Gruul Signet to play Ram Through because of the Collector Ouphe.
Nico (seemingly) missed putting a few loyalty counters on Grist. It's understandable with the ability still being new, just something to keep an eye on.
My Grist deck only has 1 insect, Caustic Catapillar, and uses Dredge and cards like Conspiracy to turn the creatures into insects. Then I use Gravepurge effects to stack the deck and abuse Grist’s +1
Oh nice, I have been wanting to see more Grist games for a while now. She is one of the coolest walker commanders out there, but I have no idea how to build her effectively.
I bought the precon, so I can make a wulfgar deck if I want to, but then I'll have 3 gruul decks as I plan to do werewolf tribal at some point too. I'll do the dragon deck first though. maybe I'll keep wulfgar in there for now, since he's part of the precon, I had originall cut him though.
The way Wulfgar is worded, he doubles triggers on any permanent you control that says "Whenever a creature attacks", or similar. Like Argentum Armor, Bear Umbra or my favorite: Mage Slayer!
I love Grist. Had a blast with mine every game. It's solid and has multiple win-cons. But the all star was my Chatterfang haha in combination with Grist and Mazirek and scute swarm. And some lame insect with a sac outlet i pumped it all up to around 200 damage xD. Also whiffed a lot with grist tbh, but all his abilities are quite solid imho
Tl;Dr: Nico/Grist lost this game to the Klothys, but improper game actions "let" Nico win. Based off the actions Nico took on the last turn by sacrificing near everything to Altar of Dementia, he should have lost. The sacrifice is a cost and (at least the way Andrew worded it) Zulaport was one of those sacrificed "first". Even if it was last of the initial stack, Nico wouldn't have gained the necessary life to survive the Beast Within cast.
Nah, the morph and Zulaport were sacced after Atarka's Command was put onto the stack. Don't think many people would question which one he sacced first, though this could've been avoided if Nico sacced his creatures one at a time like you're supposed to, rather than accumulating multiple zulaport triggers at once for that exact reason. Never mind, looks like Nico sacced the Zulaport with the first 5 sacs, so should've died to Atarka's Command. Point still stands on saccing one at a time to removal
Wouldn't klothys not be able to swing of block because of the devotion requirements? It didn't look like it got to 7 especially for the last swing of the game
I know people have brought up the Ram Through issue, but people saying it didn't matter is just not true. 20+ life in a single attack step he shouldn't have taken is very much important.
@@kingfuzzy2 I don't know, my commander games are A LOT different from these, even when we play with our weakest decks, if a commander manages to stick around a couple of turns it's a miracle.. here I saw grist drawin a thousand cards and nobody even attacking the planeswalker, everybody was doing things only cause their commander was out and nobody thought it was a problem, it's almost a race to who snowballs first without interaction. (yeah i know they destroyed some enchantments and stopped artifact abilities but still...)
@@MTGMuddstah That would be a fun "limited series" of Magic gameplay. Get a pod together. Do several limited drafts over a month or two, and then each person creates a Commander deck out of the cards they drafted.
i died when i saw Nico's dice
He doesn't mess around.
I actually have the same dice and I 3d printed a dice even bigger then that one. 😅
almost as big as my left ball
I thought Habib's deck was a "cards I have" deck. Still the most popular deck archetype, in my opinion. Great game, congrats Nico on the clutch win!
That's all but 3 of my decks casual is supposed to be fun ( :

I appreciate the Trelasarra deck presented. Love seeing commanders that don't get much thought featured.
On his last turn Kilby activates his Gruul Signet to cast Ram Through, which would not have been possible thanks to Collector Ouphe
Thank goodness for miracles
Oof
“The only good insects are giant adaphage and vorapede”
Scute swarm: am I a joke to you?
All of the beetles in mtg are quite broken and underplayed
Hornet queen and hornet nest are pretty great too
I appreciate Khabib Nurmagomedov branching out into playing magic. Good to see the Eagle rising to the occasion.

Your comment deserves way more likes. ;-)👍

Habib playing limited lol
My favorite type of edh deck to build ( :

I run Grist in my Meren deck. Surprisingly puts in work.
Love this channel, and seeing commanders that I use that aren't that well known get some love
Oh nice, I have been wanting to see more Grist games for a while now. She is one of the coolest walker commanders out there, but I have no idea how to build her effectively.
The funniest build I've seen is 33 lands + Hermit Druid + 65 insect creatures
Guaranteed 10+ Insect tokens and a grist with half your life in loyalty.
Basalt Monolith + Mesmeric Orb + 40 bugs (or at least 30) in your library and ult with Grist
Yep, wanted to build her as well. No idea how to do that
I built one that was lands, and insects. With Umori the collector as a companion incase people aren’t letting grist be a thing
I love Wulfgar! Been waiting for this.
The clutch win at one life… gotta love it
The way this Grist was built seems good I don’t know why he wasn’t activating it tho, weird game
I think Nico was a bit nervous to be on camera for the first time. I know a lot of great players who have made mistakes in games because of this.

Does any one know where a person could buy a huge dice that Nico was using? thanks
Probably custom made but I'd probably ask around at your lgs some of them come in special set kits
Love ya Muddstah. Spicy decks 🌶🌶🌶
That grist picture in the thumbnail through me off so bad 😆
13:55 I thought sacrificing can’t be responded to, only the cutthroat’s trigger, oh but then he sacs two to survive. Sorry nvm.
Habib just vibing, playing Beawl

I can't get behind the idea of making a werewolf tribal EDH deck, toouch unsleeving and flipping cards. Seems a chore
does kevin have a deck list for his klothys deck?
Doesn't Wulfguar only double attack triggers on creatures? Beastmaster accension shouldn't have gotten two extra counters on first swing
The way Wulfgar is worded, he doubles triggers on any permanent you control that says "Whenever a creature attacks", or similar. Like Argentum Armor, Bear Umbra or my favorite: Mage Slayer!
I feel like building both Grist and Old Stickfingers now... #TeamGolgari
Which art version of Old Stickfingers though?
Doesnt wulgar melee trigger twice?
Good catch, and yes he does! I mentioned it a few times. It wasn't super relevant so I didn't add it to the few attacks I'd missed earlier.
Would love to see the lists
Kevin the Madlad kept a 6 land opening hand, lets see if it plays out well for him
It played like it looked, flooded. HAHA

Collector ouphe
is habib a pauper general player ?
A cards you own player which is the funnest way to play casual magic

Its time!
and again I find myself wondering how low power commander decks never seem to have mass removal..
They do have 2-3 but rarely draw them in my experience
