As someone who has been through THREE residentials and known people DIRECTLY from Discovery Ranch,
I don't think people realize how traumatizing and sick residential/outpatient/impatient therapy programs can be. I would be crying as well and I DID when I found out I was going to one.
Its not just about "The program not dealing with tantrums" and its not just about "not having your phone". It is scary and terrifying and one of the worst experiences I went through. All I see is a scared girl who doesn't know what she wants, or if she wants life.

A lot of these 'residential therapy programs' for teens have an extensive history of abusing the patiens/residents. She probably had seen the accusations and that's why she declined. She is also a BRAT and knew that she wouldn't get her way there.
She needs an emergency emancipation followed by a legal divorce from her parents and to straighten up to survive.

It's hard to imagine how badly the parents must have failed in their parenting for a teenager to prefer to live independently and without them.
I don't care how "bad" your child is, DO NOT SEND YOUR KID TO ONE OF THESE PROGRAMS. They are horribly abusive and kids come out with more trauma than when they went in. Do any googling about the Troubled Teen Industry and you will find endless stories of adults still struggling with PTSD from what they experienced at these places.
Love your child and listen to your child. There is a reason they are acting out like this, and sending them away will make the problem worse, not better.
The Stamford CT location really messed me up. Every single day was endless suffering. They only care about the money.
My boyfriend in highschool was a troublemaker and court ordered into one of those programs. I believe it did him more harm than good. He seemed pretty traumatized by that program.

I was sent away to residential treatment at age 13, and didn’t come home until I was 16. It saved my life, absolutely. But I couldn’t see that for at least a year.
There are so many complaints by children on this therapy school where murder and all sorts is abuse (sexual, verbal, physical) has happened and it only just makes things worse creating more trauma to their life, I see a 15 year old girl going through life changes so this behaviour is what you have to be prepared for if you want to become a parent and can handle this in a diffrent way.
Oh yeah it’s one thing to be paraded on live TV and exploited so Dr. Phil can get ratings and you don’t get any real help when you think your problems are going to be solved but it’s another thing to go to a program with people that don’t care about you that can really further mess you up, this girl needs actual help not the stupid fake therapy program

Every time Madison hears the word "program", she thinks of it as offensive when it comes to putting her in a therapy with adults who won't give in to her tantrums.
Many of these programs operate with no oversight, and the abuse is rampant. And when the abuse happens, and the kids try to tell their parents (if the program doesn’t manage to stop them), the program denies it and the parents believe them because the kid is there because they’re “troubled”. The programs then punish the kids for telling.
@@Dynamosouthernbelle7 this pattern is what I have been seeing with these programs for a long time now. Your point is fully valid regardless of what others tell you.

But it's also true that the parents did not establish any boundaries, rules, and limitations with her which is why she behaves this way.
How the kid behaves depends on how you raise them.
The reason u don’t want kids is because ur not mentally prepared 2 have them u have 2 realize children r a temporary thing they r not like pets when children grow up they want their own lives and they don’t need u anymore but when pets grow up they will consistently need u because they can’t do anything 4 themselves like animals in the wild

Maybe plan B is that they all get therapy together as a family unit to start with, to keep them all in alignment, and on the same journey as there's clearly no solid foundation within the family. Sending her off on her own to therapy, im sure made her feel like she was being punished, when there's obviously faults made by all the family. Do you honestly think that they haven't tried that already? She's a spoiled brat who is now facing five felonies and possible jail time and at the time of this, she was only 15 years old. Abusive programs only make things worse. Dr Phil is the last person you should be praising. Go find a real doctor to preach
Actually data shows that you have until 5 year old to shape and influence and "have the heart" of your child.
@@livjames8624for sure! Real doctors have seen the results of this kind of abuse.
Don’t shape children just leave them alone
@@SellyNue don’t shape children just leave them alone
Tears....no getting her way...no tears...lol
She needs to go to a law office and serve her parents with emancipation papers. Dr. Phil's treatment centers are full of abused victims. She'll need a plan of some kind but I'd legally divorce those parents and demand support.
@bjornhalstrom9933 most children and teens don't even know they have that option. In fact, the pretty picture they paint convinces uninformed judges to put them there. They have no choice except survival.
How you can go on national television and air out your baggage is beyond me.
The type of people who idolise a man who identifies as a doctor who exploits people's issues for profit. The type of people who are ok putting their kids lives in the hands of total strangers who have a deal with Dr Phil who also profit from vulnerable kids to keep their facilities running and in business run by old people with no 3rd party monitoring.
This is sick
At the end crybabies
I don’t want to sent to a program mom started crying broooo man up
You don’t want to attend the program, fine. Go to jail instead
she rlly said shututppppp!.!. to her OWN GRANDMOTHER I-?!.
No plan B ?
Actually there is PRISON
This right now is the best this teen girl will ever look. Ever. She already looks 30. Wait till she's 30 and looks 60.
Dr Phil is an under qualified bully who seems to get a particular pleasure out of bullying kids. If you don't believe me just watch this video.
Shut up
Confronting ? Not addressing ?
It is true these kids are spoiled and whine when they don’t get their way
She feels alone too much because she said she won't have no one to talk come on you can't do that she's even crying
she doesnt talk to her parents as shes acting so bad shes put herself in this hole
These parents needed to grow a pair, years ago, then maybe their kids wouldn't be whiney brats. If you allow bad behavior when they are young, this is what you get when they're older. You can't be a pushover as a parent.
I wonder what happened to Madison after the program
Millenial names like Madison are the main problem. The fit throwing is hilarious.
I can't say how much I hate how he beats up in parents. Sometimes, not always, the kids are just out of control.
Father: Yeah, but..."
You knows what the scariest part about this is? These horrible kids that are being raised today is who’s going to be running this country tomorrow.
Sociopathic girl. She only cries when she’s being caught for bad behaviour. She only cares for #1 herself.
Ya know Mcgraw you might try talking to these kids instead of trying to send them away. If your not smart enough to know these kids problems are 90% the fault of the parents, you should have stayed in texas
How come every guest on the show refuses therapy? I’ve been doing it since I was a child and it helps therapy is good
It isn't therapy. These residential programs are known to abuse children and teens. Many commit suicide just to make the pain stop. It is disgusting he would recommend something like that.
Look up the troubled teen industry for more info. This is different than simple therapy
@@ssimms8995 I believe that but what I’m saying is how come these kids weren’t in therapy before hand
@little Red I agree with you. I think everything falls back on the parents. The parents should have sent them to therapy before handing them off to some strangers in another state that won't allow them to see or talk to their kids.
I agree with you 100%. I went to therapy as a teen and now as an adult. If parents feel like they are failing, therapy should be step #1
@Thomas Eastman ok yes but also why didn’t the parents introduce therapy to their children. Like every guest that came onto the show needed therapy before hand
