Think about the song really carefully. She says "we've all been played and we've all been hurt" which doesnt exclude men or women. And then people seem to also complain about how when she says "They're all the same" and interpreting it as "all men cheat" but its probably the case that "all cheaters (men and women) are the same" and therefore they never learn. The times she does use the word "he or boy" is because its her particular relationship. We shouldnt generalize that her incident with one boy applies to all men. Instead we should take in the fact that those who cheat can never really make things right again and they aren't worth your pain and suffering. Please dont make this about sexism its a nice song. Also in addition to this she doesnt actually break into his house and do these things its all in her mind the only real thing she does is splash water in his face because she knows better.
