If you want the "cheap" method you can always open an empty sampler and open the piano roll and click the three bar icon in the top left and choose your melodic scale. Basically you're creating ghost notes which will stay visible when opening the piano roll and layering out your melody.

Phrygian is E minor scale on C all white notes,
I prefer Dorian which is D minor on C all white Notes
Modes are extremely important and once you have a full ear on it its alot of crazy stuff you can do i wont get into but ya modes is a different animal

You can control the keyboard in the selected scale you want without using a midi sampler by simply clicking with right button of mouse up on the keyboard sign of FL studio, then select your desired scale, all the note of the keyboard will then only play on that scale, check it out. You can even play chords

How to overcome beat block? Simple dont overthink
Usually alot of people overthink sounds or melodies and they have a frozen look when making a beat and i dont think to hard if ima like it or not ill figure that out later.
It could eventually become hard I don't think it's as much as sound selection but more of having a new idea on coming up with melodies

When I think of beat block I feel like it’s when we experiment with the unknown like that “sweet spot” major chord in between minor progressions. I’ll give all of you an example of this, bVIMaj9(#5)-vi9-bVIMaj9(#5)-vi9-bVI9-bVII-VI, who would know to use every keynote except the Fm chord? It’s really isn’t about “overthinking” it when we know the work of music. No beat block should be characterized as B.B.B. Or the bees it could stand for “Beat Block are for Beginners”, “Beat Block Enlist Entrants Successfully”! Just saying that’s the game. It’s the way it is. Because when I watch interviews of zaytoven the producer talks about it and yes he is a teacher too. We all aren’t zaytoven! 🤗 My honest opinion on beat block, is that it doesn’t exist unless someone is a beginner. Not taking anything away from beginners, because some can get lucky for sure, but it’s the truth.
