I am more impressed with how long that Pensacola stayed alive all alone while Dave was crawling along in the other cap as he was getting his shit together.
This was fun, but also frustrating to watch. I'm assuming Dave is new to this ship and the way it handles as some of the positioning goofs were probably due to not knowing how slowly the ship gains and loses speed, but mainly it's the faulty aiming of the main guns that speaks to this. However, despite these issues, he got the big hits when it counted, kept himself in the game to the end, and carried his team across the line. Noice kraken!

Pensi, the only T6 cruiser that can bounce BB shells, not only that, but tier for tier, she can bounce the most from same tier battleships of any cruiser not relying on icebreakers. During the last T6 season of ranked, I could go angled and just listen to the music of battleship shells bounce off my nose, and the main group of battleships that did overmatch me (the RN 15"/42s), they all chucked HE at me, while it hurt, it didn't delete me. And with the good plating, Pensi's main guns are also reliable, decently accurate, with good AP, and she also has the second most accurate secondaries in game, only beaten out by Zeppelin. Sure if a 15"+ armed BB chucks AP at you and hits you, it will hurt like hell, but out of the 20 T6 BBs, only 8 can overmatch her, I will maintain that Pensi is the toughest T6 cruiser in game, only rivaled by Spee, thanks to her relatively rather large HP pool AS for Nelski, I'd rather have spotter, and unlike Nelson, you don't want to show all guns, where Nelson you want to just expose the 3rd turret, long range is actually the BEST place to cit a German BB, lobbing shell down upon their decks, although the high velocity shells are the worst for doing that, thanks to their flat arcs,
It's not the T6 BB's that makes Pensacola sweat, its the t7+ that you will see quite frequently. Almost every single part of her except for the citadel roof around the turrets and her armor belt can be overmatched, that means you can be perfectly angled but a BB gets a good longer ranged salvo on your deck and it goes right into your citadel. The guns do make up for it. Fuck me they are insane at t6 XD
There is something bad about the Nelski that can be exploited: that flat ass can be punched through by anything with decent penetration (heavy cruiser and up) and will go right to the citadel. So if you can manage to maneuver yourself behind a Lenin, you will have a great time.
Also, the curve of the bow makes it susceptible to penetrations at much shallower angles than one might think if you aim roughly under the front turret.
I mean, his positioning wasn't that bad. Maybe exposed a bit too much broadside in that one moment, but otherwise, he had a crossfire on most of the enemy team all game. Better than him sailing on the 1 line like you see battleship players doing all the fucking time. His aim was really what held him back this game
@5:50 No, Jingles. He can't shoot at the Nagato... Look at his gun range in the minimap and the position of the enemies. They're out of range. He was shooting at the right targets given the situation, albeith with some sub par aiming.
Being able to acknowledge mistakes and errors is a big part of improving as a player, so I give credit to the guy for admitting it rather than just glossing over it and just looking at the result.
You could say the Lenin has one more con. It's armour. It's possible to citadel Lenin quite well. It's citadel sits above the waterline. Another con with this armour, is it's torpedo damage reduction. Torpedoes hit very hard against the Lenin. It seems that the Lenin excels at defence. If angled and positioned well, it can take a lot of damage while able to deal damage in return. If you can catch a Lenin broadside on, or manage to get behind the Lenin, it can't do anything about that. It has to turn broadside again to fire the front (or middle) guns.
That is definitely a downside, and i have been blapped from the side (first premium i ever bought). But the fantastic bow armor and good guns lets you park by some cover and become an immoveable anchor for your team stalling opponents. I have 125 games played on Lenin with a 64% W/L but poor average damage (68k) but i learnt that playstyle after about 20 games. I just stall and let the players who are better than me win XD

Lining up the cross hair with the direction line of the enemy ship on the minimap is actually the best technique to judge range when they're moving towards you or away at an angle. It stops you aiming too high or low.
Turtleback armour protects you from CLOSE RANGE citadels, not the other way around. You can easily citadel german battleships if you are far enough away. Remember HMS Hood?
