- A short clip of the actiivity at the Boness and Kinneil Railway which is a
heritage line located on the south bank of the River Forth approximately
15 miles west of Edinburgh. The loco hauling the service trains today
was No.1 Lord Roberts (aka Thomas) built by Neilson Reid in 1899.
Nice one Stephen, remember going there when the kids were small while visiting Edinburgh, very nice whistle for a tank engine, cheers 👍
Thanks for the comment and the loco does have a very distinctive whistle unlike industrial locos built in the UK.
If you look closely it appears to be some kind of chime whistle with a deeper tone than a Britannia or an A4.
Maybe its not the original fitting buts its more akin to the type whistle you might find on a South African loco as the
narrow gauge SA Garret locos on the Welsh Highland railway produce a very similar note.
Very nice 👍👍👍
Thanks for viewing and the comment.
It looks a lot like Thomas number 1
