Its a breath of fresh air that you are able to not only ask interesting questions but keep a chill vibe throughout the podcast. Its almost like as if you were lifelong friends. Good job!
I've said it before, this is what we need. USA Swimming had pre and post shows for the Olympics, hosted by previous Olympic swimmers but they never translated those to year round UA-cam shows. We need swimmers talking to swimmers about swimming...which includes reminiscing about Dragon Tails.
I absolutely loved this interview. I’m sure Bobby appreciated being interviewed by someone who actually knows what they’re talking about and cares about learning more about swimming. Hopefully you’ll get more interviews in the future!
This is actually really good! Man you are definitely onto something. I love the idea of casual conversation with swimmers. Not sure if there are any other podcasts, but in comparison with SwimSwam interviews which feel too introvertish, even when the guest is really outgoing, this one is so casual and chill and conversation seems to be so natural that is never painful to watch. Well done Kyle.
really fun interview, if you ever release these interviews as an audio podcast please let us know. I'd subscribe to a podcast feed of interviews like this in a heartbeat. As it stands really the only other similar podcast content is SocialKick (recent/current swimmer interviewing current swimmers). I enjoy the BH and Swimswam podcasts but they fill a different niche than this
Great interview. Interesting to hear what was going on in the ready room prior to the 800 prelims, watching the earlier race and seeing what time was likely needed to advance. Would like to know if he is considering Worlds in Feb 2024, or if any other swimmers (especially non-NCAA) thoughts about that meet leading up to the Olympics. Would he swim the 400IM there if given the chance?
Bobby could totally go 1:46.0 in the 200 free! He’s not giving himself enough credit. His best is a 1:51.19 from this year at the Atlanta classic meet. The first 200 of his 800 he split 1:52.83! So if he goes out 25.4/ 27.0/ 26.9/ 26.7 that is a 1:46.0 right there
6:47 I think we could possibly see the WR go down in the next 10 years possibly but I think once we see someone go under 35 it’ll be less than 5 years till then.
Bobby swam against my son in just about every other weekend for the 500 and mile when they were in high school. My poor son had to be happy with second place everytime😂. They used to go down to SPA for long course practice and I remember the day he passed my daughter and she was like who the heck is this little kid whipping past me?!😂 It’s so great to see how successful he’s been. He’s got the talent and passion and that doesn’t come along often. Can’t wait to watch him again in the Olympics.
you should name the podcast "Socks' and Shoes " and have the thumbnail the co host you've partnered with in a shoe of their choice as a little interview booth?
I think he knows what he’s doing when your at the level he is at he just wants to win bc the times are gonna mean less if you had world or Olympic gold
sorry to be that guy but 1500m is not a mile Kyle. Idk if you've got your reasons for calling it a mile instead of a fifteen hundred but I just wanted to make sure you knew that a mile is 1600m not 1500m
Brother its just a coloquialism thats how swimmers talk. 1600 m isn't a mile either. 1650 yards isn't a mile. A mile is 1760 yards or 1609 meters. Stop being all high and mighty about it.
@@greggassen5548 geez I tried to be polite about it, sorry if it came across as arrogant, I'm not from the US so I hadnt ever heard anyone call it a mile before
he reads Swim Swam comments? we already knew Bobby was a tough MF, but that's next level 😂
Especially the stuff about him that’s crazy
We used to have "Swimming World" back in the 70's and 80's. When you made it their, you knew you were legend.
Yeah and swim swam comments just trash people with predictions and are usually so off base 😄
Even MP reads SwimSwam comments. I know because he uses the word "piano" on his NBC commentaries whenever swimmers fade in the last 50.

Appreciate the kind words, more to come 🤝

I love how Bobby talks about wild sets and times so casually bc they’re normal to him but to us they’re insanely difficult
I absolutely loved this interview. I’m sure Bobby appreciated being interviewed by someone who actually knows what they’re talking about and cares about learning more about swimming. Hopefully you’ll get more interviews in the future!
Also 8:22 LCM from ledecky and sub 9:00 1000 SCY from Finke are just mind blowing times to do at the end of a workout!
Definately one of the best swimming podcasts I have heard!
Record three more over the next two weeks 👀
I love Kyle’s back in the mirror 😂. I love Bobby finke’s attitude in this interview he seems super chill.

Thought you found the sweet spot between prepared and conversational on this interview. Really great stuff.
Bobby Finke. Good hang
What insightful questions, humor, and great rapport !! FANTASTIC interview !!! ♥🌟
Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s refreshing to hear a distance swimmer geeking out about distance swimmer.Bro Bobby is that guy

I love it, you get the vibe that 2 friends arejust talking about swimming. Already excited for the next one!
Enjoyed your interview watched it on the way back from swim practice
This was so much more interesting than any of the other swimming podcasts. Well done
Bobby is the Goat of MALE long distance! Cant believe you got to interview him!
This podcast was awesome!!! I need more of these, especially with Bobby! Kyle does a great job engaging the guest!
Awesome, thanks Kyle, thanks Bobby!
Well done, both of you.

Good job Kyle! Looking forward to more guests!
The start of a great series
idk how i went this long w out this content i cant wait to see what’s next
Did Bobby actually just say he went under 9:00 in a 1000 in practice after doing 8 other 1000s? What the........
This is short course yards don’t know if you are american but so you know but still super impressive
@@spiegelonbekend3114yeah it’s insane to go that fast
I don't even know who to suggest you have on next cause there are so many and I'm sure you'll get to them but Carson Foster would be a nice interview!
Fun interview, definitely keep at it!
Next one with Ledecky please!!
Great podcast Mr. CEO of swimming. Hope for more in the future

HEYYY SHREK🤭🤭
Great job kyle
My favorite US male swimmer since Michael Phelps.
Very great!
Did I mention yet that Bobby Finke has never broken 4:30 in a 1500m swim? What's that about? 😉
Good start to the podcast. I definitely want more of thrm.
big banger as usual kyle keep generating these fire bangers

Is he talking about luka mijatovic at 52:42 ?
Yes he is
Love the video
Your videos are 🔥🔥 i watched every one of them😎
Podcast name idea: behind the blocks with Kyle Sockwell
This is a good one!
Love this!
I'd love to see the reactions of a professional nutritionist to Bobby's caesar salad and oranges pre-race diet 😅 great video!
Kyle needs to interview me at Olympic trials about how i felt when Carson Foster broke my last Sycamore High School record and I'll cry on queue. 😢😂
Kyle bringing out his inner Nardwar😂
All I wanted was one Nardwar comment, you’ve fulfilled the quota 🙌

29:35 same thing just happened to me in my 200 fly at my championship meet
You’re the GOAT

are you still training for trials?
THE SOCKWELL SHOW

Ranch rider spirit 💀💀
Hey Kyle
Is this the smallest margin ever in the mile?

Hi Cody!
Dragon tales was the best!!
Comment for algorithm…
Let’s. Gooooooo 🙌
Please change the name to anything other than the Sockwell show it just doesn’t sound right 😂
Prediction: Clare Weinstein beats Bobby Finke in 200 LCM in a get-out swim in Fla 2024. Anything under 400m, Finke is useless.
He shouldn’t chase gold. He should just want to continue getting better through the sport, and then that would lead to a gold medal! 😱😱‼️
Eamon & Tyson for next episode!

Common in the US to just call it the mile since it’s the closest thing we have to it
