OMG when i worked on the S & C it had about 50 feet of track and loads of wrecks of old locos waiting for repairs. I did the sign writing on the original large signs at the entrance, I forget the year!!! Impressed to see the progress S&C has made !
Yes, the throttle does work as a dead man's handle. My friend Graham was the driver, and he had to keep it firmly pressed down, against quite strong spring pressure, all the time, otherwise the brakes would have been automatically applied and the train brought to a stop.
It was a disgraceful act of vandalism that's killed this almost unique vehicle. Unsure if this was one of those stabled at Selhurst Shed but if it was then I've driven her.
It didn't cross into the same section, it's a perfectly ordinary occurance on a single line route, the oncoming train was on the running line, stopping at the platform and the train which the video was recorded from was in the passing loop. It stopped and waited for the oncoming train to clear the section and then after that it would be able to proceed.
I appreciate these preserve lines for keeping the old school still running . Big thanks to them all

RIP 1302. Hopefully the DMBS can be saved and that no damage was done to it.

What do you mean?
I presume that controller in the right hand has a 'dead mans handle' effect if you lift your hand off?
I guess thats the one in the siding now?
Does the throttle work as a 'dead man's handle' (if you let go of the throttle the brakes automatically apply)?
What happened at the end? It looked a bit close with the oncoming train crossing over into the same section.
My mate Graham brought it to a gentle stop - with the Instructor hovering over his shoulder there was never any risk of accident.
@@nigelsacree9112 I could see the driver handled it well. What I meant was, was there some kind of signalling error that led to that situation?
