You know I've practiced w knives my whole life. I carry one every day. When I actually had to use it, it was different. It all started extremely fast. I wasn't really going for any fancy moves or anything. I just reverted back to making the X ( simple drill I practice for muscle memory) and taking swipes while using my reach. (I'm 6,4). Unless you were in really close or blitz attacking someone I would not encourage the reverse grip. Also be prepared to get cut. I only got sliced once and it was fairly shallow. If I wasn't trained I honestly believe it would have been really bad. If I had been more mentally prepared or had a second to get my mind ready it may have went very differently. BTW.... My knife was a Sharp Finger and very sharp. The other guy had some big Arkansas Toothpick looking knife
Thank you for your insight, I totally relate to this epically the reverse grip statement. my question would fighting with dual knives be more superior or not?
Im going down to Mexico here in a couple days and if I find myself in a situation like this I’m definitely going for the eyes and nuts until they chop my head off. Then the U.S can decide if they want to decide to intervene in Mexico oh estoy they won’t because it’s a multi billionaire dollar businesses and they’ll put you 6 ft deep for try to interrupt it.
Yea bro, I won't go into details but I got fucked up 😅 training then I guess survival instinct kicked in, ended on the ground and I lost a couple pints of blood, I was attacked and I basically made sure my knife hand wasn't cut I was going to take him with me, so yea 😅 9mm Luger now
All prison knife ''techniques'' as seen on real prison videos, involve locking up the other inmate's knife hand-arm, and ''sewing machine'' stabbing until he's down. There is little time to do anything else but lock the shoulder-elbow-and/or wrist, and stab, stab, stab. I say this only to add to your knowledge of real knife fighting as it applies with or without body armor, it's quick, it's dirty, backing up won't help you in closed spaces. The same thing applies if you are the one being attacked: Lock up his knife arm-hand, and if you have no knife, then eye gouge, kick the nads, go for pressure points, and don't stop until he's down. The size of the attacker matters. The length of the knife blade matters. The strength of the attacker matters, as well as the elements of surprise and speed.
Yeah dude cause you know more then people in the military when it comes to combat techniques 🤦♂️🤦♂️ we should just be fighting our wars with prisoners huh
very clear explanation !! 🙏 and effective against the real situation (i myself experienced) - - {actually, disarming must be the priority🙏}; only one more thing to add is that fighting against a knife man is tough and for sure we have to sacrifice something like bleeding (or seriously bleeding) to win that man. Do not believe any martial art school or action film presenting "survive without being injured or just a little injured"... When we fight a knife man, we have to get ready to die or to go hospital after that. Don't ever try or even ever be confident we are a hero in the action film. that would be so stupid; but a lot of martial art schools still teach their students to stupidly fight with the beautiful techniques. 🙏
If you listen to people that actually have a lot of knife kills - the soldiers from the trenches of WWI - the best place to stab someone is in the face. Will that kill the enemy? No. But getting a 7 inch blade through your jaw, tongue and cheek usually gets you out of balance. That's what they did - they jumped into the German trenches and stabbed anyone they met in the face. Then they proceeded to finish them off. There are examples of soldiers facing as much as six enemies at once taking them all out with a knife with the face stabbing method. Try it out the next time you face someone armed with only a knife.
I was trained in cqc with knives It wasn't for fighting it was for gutting and cutting my instructor would say Most of the time the knife is added to the exchange covertly and vital points are being targeted
These armored knife fighting concepts shown are not new but really an interpretation of very old concepts one would see in Historic European Martial Arts, as well as old school Japanese Martial Arts like Tantojutsu or Aikijujutsu... I am just demonstrating a modern application. This video was filmed over 5 years ago as part of an instructional project that was carried out when I was delving into instructing Military and Law Enforcement. A project which actually had some level of success.
i've been in knife fight before and i get stab into the left armpit, handling knife like that will make you get stab. Keep your arm low and Keeping your hands close to your body has an advantage.
My father was a close quarter combat fighter. The things he taught me, especially with just a buck knife, have saved my life more than once. Sir, yes, Sir, 🫡
yer def on target; but, i would add: a SOLID heart-stab is the only sure way to ASAP solve the lethal problem; unless you stab the heart, there's NO TELLING how it will take you to solve the lethal problem. at 67, i continue to run across real-world examples of combatants NOT being disabled by very destructive cuts/slashes/stabs/hacking-strokes! however, otherwise: there's heavy clubs to the cranium, a solid garroting, a heavy chopping-stroke (kukri, bolo, ax) to the upper neck-spinal-cord-- but knife? go for the heart, or expect a prolonged, very lethal scuffle-- in which your targets' 'buddies' may deal-you-out from behind, at any moment. my research QUICKLY discovered dozens of real military-warror knives, daggers, from all over the world, for centuries of deployment, with avg 10''blades TEN INCH BLADES, or much longer!-- these were obviously for stabbing the HEART from the angles created at grappling-biting-range (upward, downward, right rib-cage to the heart-- long blade rqd; armored, OR unarmored targets.
That ice pick grip is crap.. if you wanna learn to knife fight buy some rubber knifes and start sparring. You’ll be surprised to find out both guys usually end up dead in a knife fight 😂
Did this combat instructor break out a real blade and demonstrate using the real blade? Why not load your sidearm with a full mag of defensive ammo and draw down on your training partner? There's a reason we use fake knives and blue "Guns" when we practice with people. They are made for the purpose of training safely. Not sure I'd ever want to train where safety is tossed out the window, especially to make a video.
That is fucking bullshit, you can not fight with a knife no matter what anybody says, if you try you are: dead, your opponent dead, and you in prison, on you and your opponent both dead.

Well said

yup its always the scenario i imagine locking up the arm trapping it in my arm pit blocking and eye gouging.

Most people rather be shot than stabbed and ripped open😂, that’s some nasty work. The thought of a blade in a room close quarters is terrifying.

This was really helpful, thank you, actually

Please do full speed with training knives. None of that "your attacker won't use his right arm, so this is what you do"
A committed attack vs a sparring attack....do u know?
As a professional I’ve learned long ago a reversed grip is just impractical. Forward blade is the best
I bet 99% of people would stab to the groin like that even if they don't even know how to fight. Good stuff on here man.
I SEE A KNIFE, I RUN FAST
You a coward
That's the absolute best and safest option against any blade, that's what I teach all my students, great advice.....

What a badass technique! Awesome stuff!

This is frigging viscous man...
Awesome commando tactics 👍👍👌👌🙏🙏
why would you knee to the groin when you have the kill with a cerebral stab ?
Dude assumed AK 47 ROUNDS.
Wow such a simple but effective technique
Good video. What is a good knife for this? Kabar, M9 Bayonet, etc.?
The LEGENDARY Birthday plastic knife
Birthday party plastic knife
Definitely a birthday cake plastic knife
Birthday plastic knife is really good
All the John Rambo wannabes in comment section
This is why automatic guns are necessary 21 ft rule I don’t want a person that knows how to use a knife anywhere near me ⚙️🌶💥💥💥💥💥💥😱😱😱
Nice

poncho tactico estuvo aqui

Filipinos know they knives indeed
Best knife grip ????
do what feels most comfortable for u
I think handshake or hammer. It gives you the most options for cutting and thrusting.
It depends on what kind of knife it is and what situation you're in
Operators tend to use ice pick grips
Whatever you're more proficient with.
That's like asking what's better
Straight blade or karambit
Orr you could skip all of that where to put your knife bs and just carry 2 knives
one guy and another with. I don't think you need any lessons or technique for the guy to win.
Why would you fight someone who has a knife

Now try a machete with 45cm of lenght against your toy knife
Not a thing

No. That folder was not a real blade. That was an Emerson Kershaw CQC trainer.

Holes in the blade indicate it is a trainer knife with no edge.
