I'm dying laughing and I'm just on the deadbeat parents part
I was so perplexed lol
@@TheBlushBunny me too because you were so right - as a kid I didn't get it but as an adult I'm like there were so many other options than the one they took
Now that I'm older, I realise how terrible of a friend Lily is to Mia. While she had a valid point about Mia ditching her for the popular crowd, she explicitly tells Mia that she should already be over her dad's death after two months, and threatens to stop being friends with her if she doesn't reveal her secret.
Tbh tho! I always thought she was so rude and insensitive to Mia's situation smh I would've totally cut off sis for being a toxic friend 💯
As a kid I didn't realize now with experience that includes toxic friends I finally realized
She was a better friend in the 2nd movie for sure
To be fair, Mia didn't even know her father. It doesn't invalidate if she does have any grief over it, of course, but I think the context here is important based on what she said.
But Lily still does act pretty rude a lot of the movie otherwise.
Lily was only 15 and obviously wasn't going to be totally mature yet. She clearly hadn't experienced a loss of a parent yet to understand why Mia wouldn't have been over her father so quicky. Once Joe told Mia through the Elenore Roosevelt quote that she didn't have to accept Lily's attitude and bullying behavior about her makeover Mia fought back and Lily didn't act that way again. Lily forcing her to reveal the secret is kind of understandable too. Mia not telling her was like saying she didn't trust her which really hurt her and that's why Mia told her. Once Lily knew Mia's royal secret and understood everything that was going on with her she totally supported Mia. She also loyally kept Mia's secret even though it was hard to do. Mia wasn't always mature or perfect to Lily either as she too made mistakes, like blowing her cable show off for the beach party with Josh. Lily let her off the hook and forgave her pretty darn easily considering how awful that was. The whole point is they were truly devoted friends who always worked through their issues even as immature teens. Lily was still by Mia's side in 2 totally supporting her
two things shocked me looking back at this movie
1. mandy moore was playing the mean girl
2. mia's friend was so awful to her after getting a makeover
Yea Mandy’s got some versatility lol and Lilly was awful.
Mandy Moore played a mean girl in Saved too. Hilarious movie
@@Boywhosmellsalways loved Mandy Moore growing up!
I think the books do a better job of showing how flawed Mia’s parents were, especially since her dad is alive
It's almost always the book that explains things better
Her dad was a trash person in the book.
He’s alive? See now why would they just kill him off for the movie like this. Smh
i’m pretty sure when they were making the movie they asked the author if they could kill off the dad so that julie andrew’s could be a more central character and the author liked the idea
@@estherrose3983 oh I thought it was because Disney felt awkward talking about her dad's issue with his privates (the original reason why there would be no more heirs) in a kids movie and found it easier to stick to their old standby of dead parent. Yours makes way more sense!
Even when i was a kid i couldn’t stand Lily, couldn’t stand her criticizing Mia for the littlest things. She got her hair pressed and this was such a problem because….?? Also the dad was definitely the villian. Where was he? what was he doing for so long?
Listen. We need answers lol
In the books she knew her dad was a prince and knew her grandma. She went to europe for the holidays and spent time with her playboy dad and horrible grandma. Yes, she is horrible, she is not a sweet, elderly guiding figure, she is closer to cruela de vil than Julie Andrews. Mia fully went to a frigging castle every summer and skiing in the alps every winter. Not knowing she was a princess while hanging with dukes and duchesses was plan silly. She was just an illegitimate child and could not be recognised because of that. She only got recognised because they THOUGHT her father could not have any more children (In the last 2 books) it turns out he has another daughter he fathers around this time.
In other words, her dad is as much of a hot mess as her mom.
Yeah I thought the dad died like when Mia was a baby or something and that was why she never saw him
Busy ruling a country but agree he could have still be in Mia's life
Actually in the books the father is still alive, Mia has been in contact with them and goes to Genova every summer or so, the grandma is not super nice and she's 14 when she finds out she's a princess
I finally understand how parents would take one look at our friends and just KNOW that they weren't friends. the older you get, the clearer your sight becomes.
Parents be knowing!… and yes, discernment is a blessing as you age.
Nope are you kidding? Sometimes parents think that the other kids are good but they suck up very Eddie Haskell-ish
Another thing I noticed as an adult is if Palo is a beauty expert, why didn’t he just teach Mia how to take care of her curly hair instead of straightening it? Like I guess straight hair was the trend in the early 2000s but straightening it everyday is gonna damage it. Just give her better hair products and show her how to manage her hair and her natural curls would be gorgeous.
WAIT A MINUTE YOU'RE RIGHT
Right! Lol
Lol trueeee
Honestly curly hair in the 90s and aughts was seen as ugly. So many girls got made fun of if they had it, dorky girls with glasses had it, and the 'before' in a transformation always featured them with curly frizzy hair. I think it was just a product of its time.
Because curly hair was just considered straight up ugly in comparison to straight hair, so 'styling' it would've been seen as putting lipstick on a pig. Which is terrible and it's very great that this has changed😁 Let's just be happy curls of all tightness are embraced for the most part now and do our best not to contribute to that B.S. mindset we were stuck in back then. 😅😅
I hate when parents in movies give the "we were young" excuse for their terrible decision making (see: The Parent Trap). Yes, AT THE TIME you were young. But you've had over a decade to mature and rethink your initial decision. Yet, you never did... to your own child's detriment.
Actually in the books the father never cared about mia and didnt want to contact her and left her mother when he found out she was pregnant. but afterwards he had an accident which resulted in him being never able to have children so he couldnt produce a heir for the throne. so thats why the grandmother contacted mia since she was the sole heir to the throne and the only child he will ever have. mia's mother never told her about her father because he left her and didnt want anything todo with mia until he realized he couldnt have more children.
@@Swiftiebooklover7 that makes a lot more sense. I wonder why they changed the parents motivation for the movie... 🤔
@@Swiftiebooklover7 your last name reminded me of mia’s school principal in the movie. her name was Gupta iirc.
I hate when parents do that in real life and then act superior.
In the book Mia flys to the South of France every Christmas and Summer vacations to her grandmothers château when she sees her father and grandmother. Sometimes her father fly’s is to New York work and they have tea hat the plaza hotel and go see beauty and the beast on Broadway together. So he does have contact his daughter and he pays for their loft and her air plane to the South of France for the summer and Christmas time he pays for entire school tuition for high school because he is a Prince. Mia possibly has been going to private school her whole life in the books which her dad does pay for. I’m only speculating because she mentions Lana bullying her since they were in middle school and she met Lily in kindergarten, so yeah he does not leave them poor
I think lily being a bad friend maybe was meant to refer to the fact that Mia and her had a falling out in the books. In the books, Mia and lily actually end up as enemies. (They later reunite and becomes friends again but not until the end of the series). The movies are such a far deviation from the source material and the first movie is the worst because it takes certain story beats but doesn’t take everything, making it feel disconnected and off. I remember being so mad watching this as a kid because it wasn’t like my favorite book series lmao
but from what i remembee the falling out came in book 8 only. Before that, I do remember Lily just being an ass to Mia while she was doing the princess make over. Then in the 2nd or 3rd book, they addressed how off the movie was and Lily wanted to sue disney for that and Mia wrote in her journal "that was probably the most accurate part of the movie"
Ok now this would’ve made much more sense. Actually developing that onscreen.
To be fair, they had to redeem Lily as she and Mia end up being sisters in law. But they do become enemies and reconcile at some point.
I started reading the books but stopped at some point before their fallout. What happened (if you don't mind telling)?
@@alexitimio Been like more than 10 years since I've read the book but from what I remember : Lily's boyfriend (JP, also known as guy who doesn't like corn in his chili) dumped her once he found out Mia was single (Mia and her bf had just broken up over some bs i don't remember).
He (JP) then "accidentally on purpose" kissed Mia on the lips while Mia's boyfriend ( Michael) was coming to rekindle the relationship. Mickael saw them, JP saw him but Mia didn't so he just left without saying a word.
Then, since Mia was devastated by her breakup with Michael , JP offered to take her to the theater as a friend so she can get some distraction. He then sneakily called the media who took pictures of them and claimed he was her new boyfriend and Lily having learned they "kissed" and seeing the photo stopped talking to her for a good 2 years.
It is later revealed that JP was a big manipulator who went out with Lilly only to get close to Mia and slept with Lilly while claiming to Mia he was a virgin. He consistantly called paparazzis when they went out to get publicity and tried to publish a play featuring Mia's life and secrets.
edit : typos and spacing.
Wow, this film is FAR darker than the light teen movie I remember from my childhood. Thanks so much for giving your alternative thoughts on a classic 2000's film.
I was just as surprised to have this take on it lol
I have the most empathy for the grandma. I imagine she would have wanted to reach out but also respect her son’s decision. I don’t like it, but that’s the best explanation I can think of. Also it irritates me that in almost every movie makeover montage curly hair is straightened.
Yep. It would be quite interesting to see a makeover montage where they make straight hair curly. 😀
I see what you’re saying… however(comma) Why didn’t she express genuine interest in Mia when she first met her? Lol…I think had she done that I would feel empathy for her. But I do see what you’re saying.
I have naturally straight hair and in my childhood I thought curly hair was so much cooler than straight hair lmao. Curly hair has so much personality compared to straight hair!!!!
Yea I was confused about this too. Because girls like Mia wont spend hours straightening their hair everyday. Let alone, be able to do that herself without burning herself. And her "Before" hair looked course and thick that would take longer for the hair to heat up!
@@Stormy_Cloud all you have to do is wear a scarf or hair bonnet to sleep and your hair will stay straight.
Well...that is as long as you don't wash it everyday.
This is how black women keep our straight. We can keep our hair straight for nearly a month by doing that.
If you want your hair washed, go to a salon so that they can re-straighten again too.
I am pretty sure that is what Mia was having done. Her hairstylist was probably doing her hair like once a week.
Remember she was a princess, and her grandmother the queen could afford to have the stylist on call to go do their hair whenever they needed.
I’ve rewatched this movie at least once a year for the past 10 years. As a kid/teen, I didn’t really think too much about the characters. Now, all the adults in this movie (except for Joe) had me heatttted. Her dad couldn’t pick up a phone and call regularly? Hit her up with an email? Act as some sort of diplomat and visit her in America? The Queen wasn’t worried about how it would look if the press found out their next king had a kid he basically abandoned? 😭
Lily’s wishy-washy ass pissed me off, too. Especially when she expected Mia to get over her dad dying TWO MONTHS ago. Even if he was a deadbeat, I’m sure she’d still feel the void of never having a chance to have a relationship with him. Then, she was lowkey jealous about Mia’s popularity until she found a way to exploit it like everyone else.
This has me 😂😂😂. I feel you sis!
In the book her dad fly’s to New York and they go to Beauty and the Beast on Broadway probably got the best seats in the house lol I never been to Broadway, so I don’t know how how much do tickets cost. He pays for their loft left and and pays for Mia private school tuition probably for her whole life. She knows her dad and and grandma but not know that they are our Royals. Mia in middle school and end elementary school did projects on Genovia. Her grandmother gives her her gives her aristocrat, lessons since she was a young girl. I am not sure of her grandmother’s came to New York or she she only saw her in France. Who do you think is paying for her her plane tickets at before she found out she was a Princess her father was was Paying her to go to France. The one hood thing about the the movie is that it munch more of a shock that it’s be is a princess than in the book it mostly anger she has spending summer and most winter her breaks in the South of France
I agree with all of your points here. I think that's why Joe was always my favorite character he truly has Mia's back and had this father/cool uncle vibe that she needed. I always wished there was more screen time for him. Also, I watched Dominic Noble's video about how the book differs from the movie and apparently it differs greatly, like veeery different. #TherapyforMia, so many of the adults in her life barely gave her emotional support/were there for her when she needed it.
Love Joe. And I’m seeing a lot of people saying the book was different. That’s interesting.
You're not the only person who sees the life of the character Princess Mia this way, so do I, especially when it comes to the books. I'm personally convinced that the only other characters in Mia's life who aren't just completely horrible in some way are Tina Hakim Baba, Michael, her half-sister Olivia, Rocky, her bodyguard, (possibly her twin children when I learn more about them when the twelfth book comes out), and Boris, also her therapist, who was definetly something of a godsend for Mia, (Though his name, Dr. Arthur Knutz, and all his horse stories were a little cringe).
But then, Mia is a princess, and one who made her own mistakes and had to learn from them, not to mention the books are meant to be realistic YA fiction, so I guess it simply couldn't be all sunshine, rainbows, and happy feel good moments.
Even Lana Weinberger, as shallow and superficial as she may seem, wasn't nearly as much of a mean girl as Lilly even when she and Mia were rivals. She only picked on Mia for superficial reasons. For Lilly, it was as if she sincerely believed Mia couldn't do a single thing right without her and therefore had to be kept under her control, she is ranked just below Grandmere in shittiness, and J.P, who was disgustingly sneaky and manipulative. But that's just my personal opinion about the series gleaned over the years, after those many reads and re-reads. So what do I know?
She didn't just say "I thought you were over that" she said "I thought you were over that. It's been what X months" (x because I can't remember the number) as if it only takes a few months to "get over" your parent's death! Like she's taking an overly long time to "get over" it
Right. That made it even worse. Like girl, what?? Lol
IT WAS 2. 2 FUCKING MONTHS.
lilly babe ik you got issues but thats no excuse 😭😭
The books are completely different, Mia knew her dad and spent summers with him.He never died in the books he had cancer and so Mia was offered the crown, because he couldn't have more kids. The grandma was mean in the books.
In the books, Mia’s dad is alive, just down one ball from his testicle cancer. So she actually does spend time with him. She’s aware her father’s family is wealthy, but doesn’t know they’re royals. Also grand-mère is the worst. She’s nothing like Julie Andrews.
Grandmere with her sidecars, tattooed-on eye liner, criticisms and poodle with alopecia *shudders*
@@sakura_mw can’t forget the chain smoking.
@@klrl93 True! And her meddling in other people's business all the time smh
I used to love this movie, but the more I watch things like these, and rewatch stuff myself, the more, at my age of 23, see flaws in stuff that I didn't know previously. Royal family up in this movie wasn't shit lol, grandma did end up opening herself up and ACTUALLY bonding with her grandchild, still why did it take so long? And her daddy was horrible, like sir you gotta whole kid and she is the next in line for the throne and your ONLY child and you ain't made a effort when ya baby momma CLEARLY didn't care to use some common sense in this situation?
All of this. Lol
I just want to know how her hair stayed straight In the rain…
🧐 right! Since she was supposed to be a natural curly girl. Lol that was a goof. Good catch on that.
Permanent straightening maybe?
Mia's friend is a no. Her "friend" is a perfect example of someone who gets jealous the min you become not insecure and become "more pretty" as mia was already pretty before. You know those friends that only keep you around bcuz you seem more insecure to them, and they feel that your not pretty and or they just complain CONSTANTLY, but they don't care about your feelings/situation or if you have something to say, that's lily...
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who noticed this.
Lily is the worst thing ever. She's the meanest character ever, Even Regina George had more empathy than her. Lily was little sociopath
Speaking about Regina George, if you compare princess diaries to mean girls, Mia is cady, Lana is Regina and Lilly is Janis 😂
so I read the princess diaries books from which this movie was adapted and according to it mia's father initially didnt want her and left her and her mother poor and alone. but afterwards he had an accident or something which resulted in him never being able to conceive children. so he couldnt produce heirs for the throne. so thats why the grandmother contacted mia suddenly after so many years since mia was the sole heir to the throne.mia's mother never told her about her father because he left her and didnt want anything todo with mia until he realized he couldnt have more children.
Bruh wtf
Lol I AGREE about Lilly, Joe and Michael. You opened my eyes about grandma and mom. I agree in those too 😗.
A new perspective for us both lol
To be fair... The books explained why Mia's mom didn't say anything. Her grandmother made him choose between Mia and her mom or someday being king and not having "bastard children" because they weren't married. The only reason the grandmother came back, wasn't because Mia's dad died, it's because he is now infertile and she's the only person who can take over.
I just watched this movie a few weeks ago and was complaining sooo much for the same reasons. Lily's character especially was so poorly written smh but still a classic!
Ok so I’m not alone lol
Tbh I think her mum was right. Choosing to not make your kid grow up as a celebrity, with political responsibility and being spoilt/valuing materiality and titles. It also shows that her and the dad had differing ideals that if they stayed together could create a toxic relationship for a child to grow up in.
Yea but think about all of the celebrities that have children and keep them out of the spotlight. I forgot Halle Berry even had kids until someone brought it up one day lol… and parents with opposing ways co-parent all of the time. They could’ve done better lol
the picture of you as a kid is so adorable!!
also, I didn’t really realize it the first time, but now that I’ve seen this video it’s not cool how they treat her like an ugly monster before her makeover, and a beautiful amazing woman afterwards. she’s still the same person inside!
Thanks love 💕… and right?! I was taken aback watching.
As a person with glasses, the makeover scenes hurt me lol even my mom would tell me to take off my glasses for pictures 🤣🤣 Contacts won’t correct my astigmatism so I’m going to have to 🤪 looking for this life.
And now glasses are a fashion statement lol my how the tables turn.
@@TheBlushBunny hahahahahaha if only I was a teenager now and not 12 years ago
i watched this for the first time a few years back (i think i was like 14/15 ish so i guess i was sort of out of the age demographic) but lily pissed me off the WHOLE MOVIE. i was honestly disappointed when she returned in the second one 😭💀
😂😂😂
As a former avid reader of the series back in middle school , Recently I reread the series and rewatched the movie I started realize how irresponsible and childish her parents are, how privileged Mia sounded sometimes, and lily practically praying on her down fall.
It’s a lot lol
I think this is why I prefer the second one because Mia finds her voice and starts to really stand up for herself and make her own path.
The second one feels more like a romcom as well, it’s like it moved on from teen/coming of age to 2000s romcom and I love that
From what I understand, her father wanted to marry her mother, but her mother didn't want to be royalty. (He also concealed the fact he was a prince from her when they met, and probably up to her pregnancy). It was after the baby came into the picture that they both made the decision for her to raise their daughter and he would go back to his country because his father passed and he had to take over. We can assume he provided some monetary aid because their daughter is going to a private school, and the mom doesn't seem to have a job other than painting all day. San Francisco is expensive, so even if they live in an old firefighter house, it's still pretty spacious for the city they live in (plus again, the mom is an artist so it was ideal). So while it was wrong to keep certain secrets from her, based on the situations it was what the characters thought was best. Her mom says that they wanted to "protect" her, and of course they had no idea that her father was going to pass so early on.
There are plenty of flawed characters and situations here, but her father does need some minor defense here.
It's funny you call out her parents, because in the books them being horrible parents is kinda the whole point. Mia's mom is extremely irresponsible, and neglectful, so much so that Mia has to parent her, and make sure like bills get paid in time, that there is food in the house, and stuff like that. Also make her work and remind her of obligations and commitments. Her father is also extremely immature, has a new supermodel girlfriend every time she sees him, and is still extremely possessive / jealous over her mother, and both of them refuse to communicate, making Mia their message system. He does pay child support though, and Mia and her mother are p much only able to live comfortably because of that, because her mom is an artist so her earnings are always up and down, and she goes through many "artistic crisis." Her grandmother is also awful, she's narcissistic and vicious, and actively sabotages Mia if it's for the benefit of the royal family and their image. Mia goes through a whole growing up, maturing arch, where she learns how toxic the 'not like other girls' mentality is, and that she's been too judgmental of other girls/women in general because when put in certain situations she also acted in ways she would never believe she could. She rebels, something very typical of parentified children, finally snapping, and does dumb shit, and then crashes. She then suffers from depression and anxiety, and has a depressive episode, prior to that growth, during which her father is actually a good parent for once and basically makes her go to therapy, even carrying her there, because he can't see her like that anymore. The books are funny and smart, and I think a lot of people miss the point that Mia being an annoying teenager at the start is the entire point of the books, she was meant to be like that, because she was raised by a manchild and a womanchild in neglect, and therefore grew up with anxiety, depression, low self esteem and internalized misogyny, all things we see her slowly overcome through the years in the books.
I remember watching princess diaries when I was little and I always hated Lily she always complained about every little thing and try to make her feel so bad about something that she couldn’t control
Exactly!
I thought you were going to talk about Ella enchanted that’s the other Anna Hathaway movie I remember and also devils worth of Prada
Hmmm… maybe in the future.
The devil wears prada* :)
As someone whose mother never learned the first rule of motherhood, I completely agree with this video!! Lol I would be SALTY AF if this info was withheld from me!!!
YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!! I re watched it and I thought the same thing. I grew up with a toxic bff in highschool who treated me the same way as lily! and i was obsessed with this movie growing up. Im a brunette with pale skin, im from Chile so it was refreshing to see a main character that was not hilary duff or lindsay lohan. im a mix so my hair was super thick and fluffy and I also am a daughter of a single mom with no knowledge of my dad. --- also super nerdy, like anime fan nerdy lol--- so when my friend treated me like shit, told me i was ugly i always thought DAMn she is a real friend like lily!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA so yeah this movie broke me. gave me high af expectations in highschool///// so re watching it I was like POOR MIA she is literally trashed by EVERYONE. I completely agree with everything you said!! thanks for this!!! xoxo
I see it the same way, I’m happy for Mia’s life success, I’m happy for her life upgrade, I don’t have anything negative to say about it, I’m never bitter for her upgrade. I don’t go looking for holes or mistakes to emphasize it and make someone look bad, because I know even in real life I can be successful and I am in my own way. I don’t need to try and make someone else look horrible just to feel better about myself.
It is a fictional character . Don’t take it too seriously.
Someone has probably already said this but I'll say it again, The Princess Diaries is just The Gilmore Girls with extra steps.
Hmm… you’re the first to mention. And I’ve never seen Gilmore Girls but this is interesting.
I didn’t like lily as a kid or an adult 😩
😂
I just found your channel and I’m OBSESSED, your videos are so good omg
I literally gasped with excitement when I got this notification! I love this channel so much
🥹🥹🥹 this is just….the sweetest thing ever. 💕
I think Lilly needs a break because she as a character did a very good job of embodying the "not like the other girls" internalized misogyny that a lot of us feel as teenagers. Instead of having a narrative where Mia monologues her self esteem issues and problems consolidating her wants with her identity, Lilly is an actual character to embody that. I know I had a little Lilly in my head growing up.
I never saw this movie or anything. The closest to this I have seen is that Barbie movie where Barbie goes to a princess school. As a kid finding out I am a princess destined to rule would be amazing.
Now I would get a panic attack.
I always took it as her dad was dead, and it was too hard for mom to talk about it.
Never thought anything about the parents and the queen, but Lily... I never liked her, she always made me feel uncomfortable.
Saw this video on my UA-cam feed, instantly clicked and I absolutely love your humor and take on this movie. Subscribed!!❤️
Thank you and welcome! 🐇💕
As a kid I did not realise how bad her parents/grandma were (still have a soft spot for Dame Julie Andrews). I did hate Lily though 😂 I always found her annoying and mean.
Yeah, same! I do get in some capacity why she was upset over Mia's transformation because to her, it meant she lost her best friend and had become "one of them." I still can't stand her,, though... As for Queen Clarice, it's difficult for me to hate her because I love and adore Dame Julie too, haha 😄.
Thank you for my lunchtime entertainment! ☺️❤️
You’re welcome love! This just made me so happy. I love a good UA-cam video at lunch lol glad I could do that for you. 💕🐇
I'm screaming at the enemy list 😭 🤣 💀 😂 😩 😫 😭 🤣
omg we need a part 2 with the princess diaries 2
👀
I second this!!!
The picture of little you is so cute!! is that First Communion?
Thanks love 💕. I was the flower girl in a wedding.
I watched it recently shortly before I dive into the analysing world so I didn’t notice what you did, thanks I like your video maybe I should rewatch it so I could see what else did I miss
The last time I saw it I didn’t like the(I am the chosen one but I’ll reject it to live my life but hey I’ll be the chosen one) trope when she appeared at the party and when she automatically changed from a wet look to a beautiful dress right after the speech
However what you said makes the fact she didn’t want to be a princess makes sense. She needed time to know who she is and what was going on her life
I would so much love to see a reboot, but mostly being based on the original storyline and its characters. Frankly speaking, the movie doesn’t cover even a pinch of a witty writing of books and that’s why watching this as a reader feels extremely underwhelming (Pretty woman: Teen Edition lol). Hope one day some film company notices the book's potential and makes a series.
Thank you for the amazing video btw!
lmfao whenever i see that gif of whitney houston i really lose it! 🤣 had to subscribe after that one. you hella funny!
Haha! Thanks love. And welcome! 🐇💕
To be honest, most of these movies I haven’t seen BUT, I watch/listen because I love the voice, the take on the movie and the laugh.
🥹 this is true support right here. I appreciate you.
My favourite part’s always “however (comma)”
Funny enough I was just saying on Twitter that princess diaries 3 could be Lilly vs Lana. All of this because Mandy Moore told drew Barrymore in an interview she’d do a redemption story for diaries 3
I would love if they did a third.
I love your "However, " thing, underrated
Also did they gave that girl a perm?? Bc why did her hair not get frizzy in the entire last leg of the movie??🤨
Someone else mentioned this lol I think you guys are right lol
Hiii! I love that you've done this movieeeeee
Glad you enjoyed love 💕
The books explain everything better. Actually the author actually adressed how off the movie was in the later books.
This explains a lot
lily was never her "friend" shes really mean
In the books she fly to the South of France and visit her father and grandmother both the summer and winter breaks since she was a baby. Sometimes her dad would fly to New York and they will have tea together at the Plaza and he takes to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway since she was a kid
I think they say that Mia's dad paid for her school and sent her birthday presents but like....that's the least he can do!!
Also I had/have curlier and frizzier hair than Mia and the fact her hair is straight even after the rain made me nuts 🤣
😂
In the book she goes to the South of France every summer since she was born there her grandmother never made the chance between the throne or Helen and Mia. Her dad still has unrequited feelings for Helen, which is actually quite funny when they’re in the same room together and they just start fighting. Mia and her dad go to Beauty and the Beast every time I am when she was younger. I think the is some kind of foreshadowing, for Mia “s role
I agree with what you said about the mom(I agree with all of it, but I never thought of that specific point).
Sequel where the MC turns into an evil princess bc of this origin story.
That would’ve been a good one.
The editing with the jokes!!! I had to subscribe!
Thanks love. Welcome! 🐇💕
Don't forget Lilly also was trying to use her(I know you mentioned the podcast) so she's no better than the bullies. I'm really sad that Micheal didn't come back and they kept Lilly. I've had 1 friend from my childhood to really disssapoint me(before others) and Lilly has the same vibes. I never forgave her for not being a real friend.
I remember re-watching this a few months ago and I was so SHOCKED by how different i thought this movie was from how i remember.. especially w the fact that i used to have the same hair type as mia before learning to take care of my curls so i was a bit weirded out w the while makeover thing but its 2001 so😭😭 and some of the characters are a nooo
All her hair needed was a good moisturizer, they didn't have to cut it and straighten it.
Right!! Lol simple fix.
Lily still makes me insane. I can only guess Mia kept her around for some kind of self-inflicted punishment for believing she was the reason her dad didn't want her.
Omg I’m in Mexico and now the ads r in Spanish too 😭😭
I'm new here just found your channel as a millennial I really like the content & laidback format.
My millennial sis! Heyyyy! Lol welcome 💕🐇
He paid for her school and gave her money… not deadbeat just absent!
I absolutely agree on the parts about the parents and grand-mère. The books handled this much better: Mias Dad is alive but had to have his testicles removed because of cancer, leaving him unable to produce another heir to the throne. She knows her Dad and Grand-mère, she just doesn't realise they're royalty. Nobody out right told her, but she also never asked. She just assumes, that her Grand-mère is rich and her Dad is an important politician and that's that.
So nobody kept anybody from her, nobody outright lied to her and nobody died. It's really just a sweet series about an awkward teenager going though it with an unusual situation and some royal fantasy added to the mix. Really worth a read!
I never watched this as a kid and watched it last year (age of 23) and... Lily is everything I was not expecting. She was judgemental, mean and instead of being a supportive friend and even saying "you look great", she berated her and made her feel small (just like the bullies are to lily so she should have KNOWN BETTER).
I haven't seen it but I'll watch any Blush video so here I am :)
🥹 I appreciate you.
Awesome video, I love this movie. My favorite movie: Parent Trap, the 1998 Lindsay Lohan version, has a lot of similar problems. I still love it tho…. Anyways thanks for the great video! Take care, Anna
I LOVE The Parent Trap. And agreed. Same weird plot points lol
i wanted to date mia as a kid soooo … also i watched this movie basically daily until i was like 11 bc i’m autistic
This is me with Rodrick Rules and The Emperor’s New Groove! Rodrick and Kuzco are huge comfort characters for me and both coded bi. Rodrick is my ideal man and I would love to have Kuzco as a best friend
In the book Mia spend all her summers with her grandmother and dad (he is alive in book canon but couldnt have more kids), he also never married Mia’s mum
on the books it’s well explained and it was kinda obvious Mia was just dumb to not realize
I didn't remember anything about the movie until I saw the video. Honestly, the only thing I remembered from the movie was that I loved Joe. He was the main reason I liked it.
Blush bunny's voice is cute. Wait a minute, I just realized why I think that.
It's because we have similar voices. 😸 The way I sound on my voicemail message, sounds just like her even the way we say certain words. 😄
🫶🏾💕
Voices United! Lol
Pause.... I thought that her dad died before the movie 🤣 then again, I only saw bits and pieces.
Lol he did. But in the movie when she and Lilly were talking, she said it had been 2 months since his death. So in Mia’s world he’d been alive all her life…Just a deadbeat lol
Spot on!
The fact that the dad is alive in the books
Anne must have been 18 when she filmed this
6:26 ..... girllllll
if you read the book .... it only gets worseeeee
I was fucking pissed when they broke her glasses 💀
You should watch "what a girl wants" from 2003. It's similar
I hated Lily and wanted Mia to cut her out of her life even as a kid.😭😭 Imagine a 'friend' dragging you just because you put a flat iron to your hair. She's so self centered and petty.
would you believe lily's even worse in the books?
I can only imagine
Can you do the second one 🥹?
you should do the princess diaries 2
This was so funny 😂
What do you think of Euphoria
I’ve never seen it
girl on the makeover thing I watched a Chinese drama where the Main character was supposed to be ugly (Despite looking like a super model) and her ugly Identifier that they "Fixed" was Wavy hair that I kid you not looked like it was fresh from the salon, like I wish my poofy ass wavy hair looked like hers. AND because she had freckles *The horror!" safe to say I had to stop watching the moment they *Fixed* her
Oh my goodness I remember the days when freckles were on the ugly list!… now they have filters to give you them. Lol
this movie was my faveee as a kid
Great points
Thanks for watching love 💕
Forgive me, I'm a Clarisse Renaldi apologist 😭😭
Lilly was jealous
