    Hi Roman,
I understand you switching from Fuji to Sony & giving Leica a go. During my career I switched from Nikon to Canon because Canon went digital first.
I use to think that my camera was simply a tool to get the job done.
And Sony is brilliant at that, however I now believe that a camera has to have a soul, not a good word but you have to bond with your camera, your camera has to become an extension of your creativity.
Having used dozens of cameras over the years I've only experienced this twice, once with the EOS 7D & the second time with the XT3.
I love your channel irrespective of what camera you chose to use. Good luck with your new kit, I hope it delivers everything that you're expecting.
    Cheers Steve

My small gear travel setup is the Sony a7riiia, Sony 20mm f1.8, Sony 35mm f1.8, and the Sigma 90mm f2.8. I can fit them all into a tiny camera bag, making it great for travel.

That's a lot of kit to hump around and look after when travelling. I used to carry a lot of Nikon kit - then Fuji and now I use the Leica Q3 28mm - 43 is too long for the travel shots I do - and loving it. Just having the one camera sets you free. You concentrate 100% on the shot and don't have to think about what to use - lens to choose etc. 60 megapixels mean you can crop later and still get fantastic results.

I travel a bit differently and my trips can last for 2 - 4 months at a time. Of course I would never go out with all this gear at once. In most cases I will only have 1-3 lenses on me. Having travelled like this for the last 3 years, I know for my, this is the most minimal kit that can cover 100% of what I need for photo and UA-cam

I wish Nikon made a 24-50 f1.8 for the Z system... in the meantime I use my 40f2 and 28f2.8 on the Nikon Zf, really love the compactness of the system, no camera bag, I just put the lens I do not use in the jacket's pocket. Minimal setup very pratical. Wishing an happy new year to you too

My go-to travel kit is an RF 24-105 f/4 + RF 35 f/1.8 with my Canon R5 (or R8 if I'm really going compact). Two lenses, one good from sunrise to sunset and a fast 35mm prime for night. My photography style keeps me around 35-50mm so with the R5's 45mpx resolution, I can get a 35mm shot or easily crop in for a 40 or 50mm look. Plus the RF 35mm can do 0.5x macro work, great for food shots. One cam, two lenses, a very versatile kit for me. I do wish Canon had a 24-50 f/2.8, I'd maybe choose that over a 35mm prime.

I recently transitioned from the XH1/XPro-3 combo with a handful of Fuji lenses to the same Sony A7RV, but just two primes for now; the 24 and 85 1.4s. So far, so glad to have made the switch, finding that the Sony is helluva lot of fun to shoot with, and oh my god the autofocus is EPIC. Didn't know what I was missing with the Fuji system. Brings more confidence to my shooting experience. Hope you have fun with it too, can't wait to see the content you produce with it.

Having fun shooting withe the Sony when you had a Fuji??? That doesn’t seem plausible. I have both systems, been 10 years with the Sony system. Doing pro work? Then yes Sony is a more “comfortable” system. Fun? No, work is never fun. Are you a hobbyist who likes to spend a big chunk of your time on processing photos? Then, yes the sony is again more “comfortable” system. But fun? In comparison to Fuji? That sounds more like trying to convince yourself that you made the right decision.

Thanks for your insights on gear for next year Roman. I have both bodies and the same set of zoom lens too except the wide angle one! I had the 20-70 F4, super sharp but eventually I changed it to 24-50 F2.8 because of the counterintuitive design which I love. Was also a Fujifilm user for a long while but had to switch because autofocus issues gave me a scare during a paid shoot. Have been with Sony now since 2023. Interesting choice of primes there. For my kit I have the Sony 35mm F2.8 ZA for transit while traveling and EDC, and a Sony 85 F1.8 for a lightweight mid tele if needed during traveling. Have a great new year and keep rocking those vids. Cheers.

Happy New Year Roman! I'm looking forward to now experiencing all your insights on my favorite camera...A7R5! I have my Fuji XT5 and use that more for everyday, but you cannot beat the Sony for autofocus speed and image quality. Sometimes a little too sharp, but who's complaining! Question for you....I know that I need to pick up a second Sony for backup and to use as a second camera at weddings. I have been back and forth between picking up A74 (I've had it in the past and it's really good camera) or do I get that A7Cii. Would you feel confident enough with that camera to be a second camera for weddings? It has only one card slot and that is what's keeping me just getting that.

Great kit. I moved away from Fujifilm beginning of the year, though I decided to get the X100VI to use per occasion.
The first camera I got was the Nikon ZF, followed by the Sony A7Cii.
Interesting thing happened, I thought I would build my kit around the Nikon but found myself slowly building my Sony kit due to constant specials.
The only issue is, it takes longer to learn the cameras. I am thinking of selling the Nikon ZF for the Sony A7RV to keep consistency with the system.

The 24-50 is Sony's best kept secret. Errr, was... 🤣 It's ridiculous how good it is in a nice tidy affordable package. I would encourage you to check out the Sony 11mm APS-C lens on your A7Cii for video instead of the 16-25. Both the A7Cii and A7RV shoot oversampled video at 4K/24 in APS-C mode. Once you add in the crops from APS-C/Active Stabilization you end up with about 20mm equiv. FOV. Plus with your A7RV you are still getting a 26MP image. Lastly, it's f/1.8 compared to f/2.8 which is incredibly useful in low light situations (esp night). Looking forward to seeing you try out the new gear in 2025!

I can really really really recommend the Sony 20-70 F4 G. Sharp as hell. Almost as compact as the 24-50. Parfocal! Little to no breathing. Sharp as hell!
All but in the dark situations. This lens will be on my camera for a trip. Also video gigs.
Pair it with the 35 1.8 and you are done for 90% of travel stuff you can think of. Especially with the higher MP bodies.
For events and weddings love the 35-150 but it is to chunky for travel.
    50 1.4 and 85 1.8 for portraits and 20 1.8 for party mode 🎉
Sigma glass is awesome btw. But in my experience AF might be comparible with GM glass in good lighting. In the dark G and GM glass hunts a lot less and is still awesome

Well as for Sony, the G lenses I have cost the same as equivalent Fuji red badge zooms. Give or take £200. The sigma f2 primes are cheaper or about the same as the Fuji f1.4 alternatives.
The A7R is more money, but the A7Cii is about the same as most top end Fuji bodies.
The big price tags you're referring to only apply to the really high end stuff like GM lenses, A7R, A1 etc.
As for Leica, that's a luxury item and most people who use one are normal photographers in my experience.
