scizor is a great pokemon and has a lot of similar but different sets, some of them even got bufffed now with scizor getting close clombat, but the thing is, being weak to one of the most comon offensive types in the game and having average spdef and slightly below average hp balances it out. patrouski makes a point that theres not many good fire types in ou and thats not wrong, but you dont have to be a fire type to ohko scizor with flamethrower or deal 90% with hp fire ( ohko after sr). Maybe you dont know this as much since you dont play that much ou, but from what ive seen the most common way to deal with scizor is to chip it down with stealth rock and rocky helmet and at the end of the day, scizor is almost always unable to sweep with bp because, on of the other meta defining ou pokemon is rotom, which x4 resists bullet punch and has stab hidropump which will kill a chipped down scizor. scizor is very strong, but the way the meta is, it has a lot of ways to deal with it, and thats why you never see ou players complaining about scizor being overpewerd or needing to be nerfed. also saying that magnezone will always switch into scizor and scizor wil always superpower/close combat is like a low ladder play scenario with 0 prediction, against magnezone you never superpower because say, if they switch into their physical rocky helmet wall and you superpower, you got walled, got chipped and lost a turn since now you have to switch. the correct play against a magnezone with cb scizor is to u turn always and if the enemy switches in magnezone, then you chip it down and run to the magnezone counter, that way you gain a turn. The point of magnezone countering choiceband u turn (that is after you already figured out from the dmg calcs that it is choiceband) is to wait till scizor dares to click bullet punch to kill one of your mons and they switch in after to kill it with hp fire, since scizor cannot switch and is choiceband stuck in bullet punch, which magnezone x4 resists. And also, while choiceband scizor is the easiest to use, it loses a bit of sweep potential without swords dance, thats way most of the time I dont see choiceband scizor in 700+ elo games, momentum and dmg is good (with this I mean that the point of cb scizor is to have strong priority in bp and hard u-turn to chip down switch ins and reposition yourself) but being able to lategame sweep once you get rid of the counters its better, its a common scenario that rotom is a physicall "wall" used to check certain things, but if you toxic it, chip it down with sr, damage it with another physical attacker, then it enables scizor sweep in lategame, when everything that could kill it its chipped to 60,70%. If you set up one sd, then you are able to kill them with bp and win the game just like that. Thats why personally the set I use the most is 248 hp 252 atk 10 speed with leftovers max hp and a bit of speed to outspeed other 0/4 speed scizors and pelipper. Roost swords dance u turn bullet punch, allows me to mantain momentum, tank some attacks, have priority, and if needed, be able to sweep lategame.

I totally get you but in medium/high level Scizor is not that much of an issue (imho) because any physical wall can stall it for ages (Skarmory, Hippodown), and you can also paralyze it or burn it and it become useless. Scald is everywhere. You can also guess Scizor set with the first move usually, unlike Rotom. Scizor is definitely strong, but I play a lot of OU and I'm totally not scared of Scizor, it's very predictable. Rotom Wash on the other hand is absolutely insane, it can run so many sets, has literally no weakness except Grass and here is where Scizor becomes broken imo, paired with Rotom-W volt switching, spreading burns, trick & plain split. But playing a lot of OU, I truly believe Rotom W is the issue, not Scizor. Like a lead Rotom-W choice scarf has very little answers, and you'll "lose" a mon to trick or status, putting you immediately at a huge disadvantage. And Rotom W is the biggest enabler for Scizor switch in. Without that it would be tough to bring Scizor in, in the first place.
I’ve gotta say that this could perhaps be my lack of some of the more subtle differences between regular smogon bwish era ou and pokemmo but I’ve always felt that chomp and Scizor were most reliably dealt with through their pretty intense vulnerability to status moves and being forced out and worn down by checks. I played comp mons from HGSS-oras and came back for bdsp. Outside of sand veil chomp stuff being really uncompetitive with ttar I really don’t remember feeling like either of these mons were that suffocating
They are very different in PokeMMO, Garchomp for example was held in check my a lot of the legendaries in bdsp/BW like choice scarf latias and latios. Heatran also isnt around to answer scizor which is a BIG deal.
Actually there is one true counter for scizor in this meta, and that is dragon dance gyarados. Gyarados resist both scizor stab, and give it intimidate before landing the hit, which make gyarados perfectly safe to switch and set up in the front of scizor (and rly, +1 DD Gyarados is fkin strong)
I really do think the big issue with Scizor at the moment is that its biggest counter in the old BW meta (Heatran) doesn't exist in the game. Its versatility is also its biggest strength as well because it's probably one of the best pivots in the game as well if it's built more defensively. I've also noticed that the distribution of intimidate mons are less common than before (especially seeing that Lando-T doesn't exist either) contributes to Scizor being stronger than he should be. Once Slowbro gets access to Regenerator he's going to be suspect tested, I feel.
I think the 1 item clause would help the current meta. I built a ferrothorn the other day and literally can’t use it because every team is built around stopping scizor lol. I do agree scizor is the king of this meta
Hey, maybe it's not a good place to ask a question like that, but I wonder, are there some sort of PvP tournaments / matches that don't include meta? Like, I want to do some PvP, but with some more ordinary pokemons (like Victreebel, or Ninetales) with maybe two 31 IVs and somewhat decent EVs?
Unfortunately idk if its possible for a pvp ladder to exist and a meta not form :( But if you prefer lower powered pokemon then i suggest playing NU, randoms and even untiered pvp tournaments when they pop up. Another huge motivator with pvp is playing people of the same skill level, which can be tough if ur just starting out, try to find some friends or maybe a casual pvp team to join to battle and learn with others :)

I believe most ppl go 252 Hp 252 atk but u can also go 252 atk 252 speed depending on ur build. Roar Skarmory and defensive salamence can easily wall scizor for days. But ye from my experience dun play OU if u dun have a way to deal with scizor or conkeldurr.

I think getting rid of superpower/his fighting coverage would be the best option. CB technician Bullet punch is VERY good and that can be his thing tht he does well so i dont want to get rid of that, but he should be able to be countered by magnezone. Enabling him to do his thing well and even multiple things still with defog, or SD sets but stopping him from running rampant against his "counters".
Conkeldur is very strong but i think that same statement could be said about scizor as well, i think hes up there in top 3 for sure, id love to see a video or a longer piece from you explaining why u think hes the most op pokemon in pokemmo :)

Yes thats called STAB which stands for Same Type Attack Bonus. STAB moves do 50% more damage or a 1.5x multiplier.
