Excellent video. Love how it focuses on so much more then the tourist spots. Freddy M. - I'm a Canadian living in Costa Rica. We take buses and taxis all the time - we do not own a car. Buses and taxis are inexpensive, clean and very safe. Our taxi drivers have become our friends. We never buy bottled water. We have never experienced bed bugs. We never hesitate to ask the locals for directions, etc. They are very helpful and friendly. Your comment regarding machetes is hilarious. We have one ourselves - it's used in the garden. Views of the volcanoes are excellent (unless it is cloudy - how can you control that?). Anyway, I hope you do not live here. If you don't, please don't come back to Costa Rica. You seem like one of those miserable travelers who should never leave home.

OK Freddy M... I have been a Costa Rican tour guide for 21 years and thousands of visitors I have taken all around Costa Rica and at this point of my life I have to say “common sense” that is what you need no matter what country you go to and one more thing give us the opportunity to show you the real Costa Rica, obvious the one you do not know. Costa Rica is not about the capital city issues or low budget restaurants, is not about been afraid or defensive, is not about public buses or “company services” this country is a lot more than that, this country is an explosion of beauty, beautiful people, beautiful natural wonders, beautiful energy, is a mixture of happiness and science, family values and health, humans and nature, it is a complex, wonderful place. We do appreciate your advice and “tips” but sometimes one gets advice that is better discard and yours will be discarded just because is not useful if you came here looking for the real Costa Rica.

Just be ready for a tough time to get anything done. Time is not relevant to the Municipalities of Costa Rica. This thought process will keep your blood pressure level. This video is spectacular in its ability to show the possibilities of the Country.
I live in Northern Virginia. One of the richest parts of the world and you can go 50 miles in every direction and find total poverty. Frankly I have seen nothing but a steady decline in the USA. I just watched on TV about a black guy thump the crap out of a cop and the cop shoots him and that gives every poor black in the USA the right to run there and steal. duhhhhhh. what am I missing. Costa Rica sounds like opportunity to me. I am selling commercial real estate there and I don't see a problem. I am sure there are bad communities there. And we have plenty of gated communities here in the USA. Our rivers are puddles of waste. You sure as hell cant go down town any more in any city. Every one with a pimple on their ass runs to the SSI office trying to hook up with that $654 P/M. We are the only country in the world where we pay you to be poor. The educational system is a joke. Unions have ruined the work force. Liberals have ruined the self esteem of Americans by thinking you can get something for nothing. You cant seal from the rich and give to the poor to make the poor rich. Give the poor a fishing pole not a fish. I was so poor at one time I couldn't even pay attention. I lived in a card board box in a getto in Cincinnati. Today I just bought my wife a new Lexus and I bought one for myself "In Cash". NO ONE GAVE ME A THING. There are a lot of tears and heartache on the way up. CR is beautiful. Stand back in the USA's concrete jungle and watch Costa Rica grow.

Claro que es mercadeo pero todo lo que sale es una realidad, porque si ya sabemos que hay problemas, COMO EN TODO EL MUNDO, no nos enfocamos en ver la bendición de país que tenemos? Que es la lloradera de mucha gente en solo ver lo malo del país y no lo bueno?( sobretodo los que no han salido )
Por ejemplo la escuela de metal por el Morazán, es una belleza así como el teatro nacional pero nadie lo resalta como se debería , solo se fijan en los huecos y en el precio de la gasolina.
Porque el publico meta son extranjeros, es un video para atraer turismo e inversión. El público al que está destinado debería de saber inglés, básicamente por eso no está en Español.
No country is perfect & Costa Rica has LOTS to improve on - ESPECIALLY when it comes to doing business/being business friendly as many large & small companies (& people) seem to be leaving of late - in large part because of how expensive it's gotten in CR & safety (how can someone say they feel "safe" if you HAVE to live behind BIG walls, bars on windows & doors EVEN on the 2nd floor, barbed wire, gates, guards, guns, guard dogs+ & where lately few people bother to report crimes saying "why bother" when things don't get resolved). Sadly, MANY families have done a HUGE dis-service to their kids by not encouraging them to work before they finish college so good strong work ethics aren't as high here from too many people. And Customer Service - I share these points NOT because I do not like CR, I LOVE SOOO MUCH about it - but I HUGELY DISLIKE when people don't share the FULL truth, potentials of challenges that MAY (NOT always) happen - ESPECIALLY when it effects people's business. BUT - I have VERY HIGH HOPES for the new administration under Solis.

Yes. That also hapenned to me. I did no see Costa Rica in this video. Costa Rica is so much better than what is shown here. Living in this country is one of the biggests things that you can do in your life. Here, I am free. I do not live afraid, as I would in other countries. In Costa Rica I am always surrounded by the nature, by the happiest people and by the most beautiful experiences in life. Definitely, I did not see Costa Rica in this video.

No country is perfect & Costa Rica has LOTS to improve on - ESPECIALLY when it comes to doing business/being business friendly as many large & small companies (& people) seem to be leaving of late - in large part because of how expensive it's gotten in CR & safety (how can someone say they feel "safe" if you HAVE to live behind BIG walls, bars on windows & doors EVEN on the 2nd floor, barbed wire, gates, guards, guns, guard dogs+ & where lately few people bother to report crimes saying "why bother" when things don't get resolved). Sadly, MANY families have done a HUGE dis-service to their kids by not encouraging them to work before they finish college so good strong work ethics aren't as high here from too many people. I share these points NOT because I do not like CR, I LOVE SOOO MUCH about it - but I HUGELY DISLIKE when people don't share the FULL truth, potentials of challenges that MAY (NOT always) happen - ESPECIALLY when it effects people's business.
BUT - I have VERY HIGH HOPES for the new administration under Solis.

This is truly a very good video and promotes Costa Rica in the right way. Certainly there are dark sides too, but they are present in every country at the planet and since this is a promotional video it would be wrong to show otherwise.
Do you think that you would see a promotion video about germany, showing minor prostitutes and junkies behind the grand train station in Berlin???
I'm living here now for 20 years, and yes i agree that there is still a lot of improvement, fortunately it seems the new government is going in the right direction. However, fact is that there is NO paradise on earth, but Costa Rica is getting close to be one, again

Freddy M, Has a few of his points correct, like leave your Fancy Electronics and Flashy Jewelry elsewhere, but everything else he says is just plain wrong. There is crime and yes even corruption,everywhere in the world. Common Sense goes a long way when one travels. This little country packs a wallop of amazing wonders and the locals are truly amazing people! Avoiding the countryside would be the biggest mistake you could make! Either he had a REALLY bad experience or He is confusing Costa Rica with Honduras or El Salvador. At any rate...Please do not take his comment seriously for even a moment.

Yes. That also hapenned to me. I did no see Costa Rica in this video. Costa Rica is so much better than what is shown here. Living in this country is one of the biggests things that you can do in your life. Here, I am free. I do not live afraid, as I would in other countries. In Costa Rica I am always surrounded by the nature, by the happiest people and by the most beautiful experiences in life. Definitely, I did not see Costa Rica in this video.

Aaron Solano I didn't say that at all. I just said that I didn't see Costa Rica in the video. The Costa Rica I live in and travel around in looks nothing like the trumped up, business, scientific, technological environment that I saw in that video. I love Costa Rica - but it's not a cutting edge, developmental, scientific, progressive nation in the way that the video shows. There IS another side, the real side that Most Costa Ricans live in every day.
