Thanks for sharing, you helped me figure out how to clamp my 12" tom that gas a similar crack like that last one you did. It was from a drop when I just had got the kit. I remember that I searched for any damages and couldn't find any at first. Only much later, when I was disassembling the drum for an overhaul, I found the crack and the reason why that particular tom was giving me such a hard time to tune...! Well, you live, you learn...
I did the butter knife trick with palette knives for painting when I reglued the reinforcement rings on my old Slingerland bass drum. Worked like a charm, but I wish I had air.
I get the down and dirty, nothing like handing metal drums and parts and having black fingernails and hand cracks for days! I also find seam repairs with rerings are a huge pain for clamping also. Great job your inside block wasn’t stuck to the shell.
I guess most cracks happen from some sort of trauma like you suggested on this one, or from stress like the Radio King you did a few months ago. Regarding the wood drying out though, do you have an opinion, for ,or against , applying any sort of paste wax, or wood conditioner to the inside of a shell when your restoring?
Yes, I am all for applying a wax to the wood. I use Johnson paste wax for wood floors. Comes in a can that you apply with a cloth. Seems to give the wood vitality. I also use this same wax on leather items. Cheers

I am now playing that drum regularly with the set it goes with 20 12 14 and 5 1/2. That tom sings and they all have calf heads on them.
After making this repair, how long should you realistically expect the glue to hold up before the drum needs replaced?
I really dig your channel. Do you sell parts
Thanks but no I dont sell parts
