  • Is the Media Doing a Good Job on this Election; Has the Election Changed the Way the Media Works (Elections 2024). The hosts for this show were John Waihe'e and Jay Fidell. The guests were Chad Blair, Colin Moore, Brett Oppegaard and Julien Gorbach.
The discussion was: Our panel (moderated by Governor John Waihe'e with panelists Chad Blair of Civil Beat, Colin Moore of the Public Policy Center at UH Manoa, and Jay Fidell of ThinkTech Hawaii, and special guests Brett Oppegaard and Julien Gorbach of the Journalism Program in the Communications Department at UH Manoa) helps us understand how the various elements of American media have participated in the election process for this cycle, has the media done a good job, how has it changed and how has public confidence in the media changed over the past few years, how has the internet, social media, AI and technology in general affected things, how much influence has the media had in this election cycles, and how much influence will it have on the outcome in November.
The takeaway was: So many things in our country have changed over the past few years, including the media. We need to examine how the media has changed and how it has changed public opinion and the public conversation, and how all of that effects this very historic election coming up in November
