Great demo, thanks. So many channels will talk your ears off about bows, but not show them in action. So I appreciate your presentation, and very impressed with these bamboo bows. Subscribed for more. Best wishes.
Old video maybe you're still monitoring responses , but you have a really nice channel , great content and presentation . Hope you do more . Always such soothing music as well , thanks for sharing .
Very nice video! Dave Mead builds the fastest bamboo HorseBow of any HB produced. His FlatBow is not far behind. This is a must have if u dont have one. Buy one soon. U wont regret making this investment. I own several and love to shoot them all!
Thanks for sharing. How long is the bow strung? It looks to be a silky smooth draw too. Is it really as quiet as the video leads me to believe? Overall your video is very relaxing. I can all but guarantee you that you will never have high blood pressure! That's a good thing!
Loved this video so much I went straight to his site and watched all the rest! Just sent Mr Mead an email looking for advice on which bow to buy. I will be buying it as soon as he replies! This is looking like an incredible Father son project! I cant wait! Just one thing...Where did you get that quiver? I have shorter arms and have trouble fussing with a back quiver. Please share where you got it!
hey man nice review! may I recommend you load the arrow in between the string and the bow. grab the arrow behind the arrowhead (according to your quiver) and hand it through the bow and the string into your left hand holding the bow. its much more fluid and quicker. I noticed that's what the Japanese would do with their open ebira quivers and also horse archers would carry their arrows upside down in their quivers and grab it by the arrowhead (just behind) and do what i recommended (or they would shoot it on the right side of the bow with the thumb draw) peace brother hopefully my advice was helpful!
I've been on Dave's website many times and am very impressed with his work and passion. I think I'll have to wait to Christmastide to buy one. As I own eight bows I can't justify getting one yet- the wife would lynch me. Christmas will be a different matter though. Flaxen Saxon
Nice bow. Congratulations. Your arrows shouldn't get going left, though. The arrows are probably spined too stiffly for that bow. You'll want to take that into account when you get around to buying wooden arrows. In the meantime, you might try heavier points on your carbon arrows to soften the spine a bit.
John, I appreciate your comment. You are correct, a stiff arrow will shoot to the left in a right handed bow. With that said, without a cut-in shelf I believe it will be quite difficult to get an arrow to shoot straight through the center of this bow. This is because without a shelf the arrow is pointed so far to the left that it would have to be way over weakened to make it shoot to the right. Now this is only my opinion based on my few weeks of experience, I could certainly be wrong. I have found after finding the proper aim that I have no issues hitting what I am shooting for. The arrows seem to be flying straight and true. I will test out my new wood arrows when I finish them and go from there. Enjoy!
Thanks for the comment! We will try our best to get some hunting footage with the mead horsebow. We are excited to take it hunting this fall and see how it does.
You did an excellent job on this review! I had a concern with not having a cut in but you explained very well how you felt comfortable with the cant and adapting to the new style of shooting. If you had the choice (which Dave now offers) would you prefer the cut in option? Thank you for your consideration of reply. Good Hunting!
Having a cut in shelf is all personal preference. Having an arrow shelf does make things easier while hunting because the arrow rests in position on the bow itself so you don't have to hold it the entire time. Having a shelf also means that you don't need to wear a shooting glove to protect your knuckle from a stray loose fletching. with that said, there is nothing like the feel of shooting an arrow off of your knuckle. Something about shooting off of nothing but your own hand is pretty awesome. I feel it adds another level to the primitive bow experience. So in short; a shelf on your bow is probably easier to use, but you give up some of the experience of shooting a primitive bow. I own and shoot primitive bows of both styles. It will be up to you to decide which you would prefer. Enjoy!
Great review and shooting video. I have a little longer draw than you. Am I correct in understanding the siyahs (?) keep the pinching down a little from what an active limb tip would be on a similar sized conventional recurve.
John, you are correct. Basically the string lifts off the siyahs towards full draw, making the bow 6" longer then it was at brace height. This opening up of the siyahs greatly reduces the finger pinch and makes for a smoother shooting bow. In my opinion you will not find another primitive bow that will perform like a Mead horsebow will in terms of arrow speed, overall length, and full size draw lengths. The Mead horsebow is truly something special. Enjoy!
I have seen a couple variations on that quiver concept. You may want to make one out of PVC pipe and some string or a belt, try it out before you decide to get one, they take a little getting used to.
I had the quiver custom made by a local leather worker. This particular design works very well for what I use it for. You can find similar styles online for sale on Ebay and other traditional archery vendors. Enjoy!
Impressive video and shooting. I'm sorry, but did you mention with the poundage on that bow was? I've been shooting a sage for several years now and I have really been interested in buying one of the better bows, just to upgrade. Like you though, I wanted a short bow for close quarters hunting. I may have changed my mind on the bear.Nice shooting. Do you mind if I asked the price? In addition to the poundage.
I plan on using 40-50 spine wood or bamboo arrows with this bow. I will be using 125-170 grain points depending on what shoots best out of the bow. If you choose carbons a 600 or 500 spine arrow should work fine depending on your arrow length and point weight. It will just take some experimentation to find out what shoots best. Enjoy!
Dude, I love your videos! I also like that you're a christian. I like that you pray. I love the bible verse on your bow. Why aren't you making more videos? One every few months is not enough. Please don't stop making videos and please make them more often. Big fan here.
Thank you very much Charles, I truly appreciate the kind words. I will try my best to make more videos as often as I can. I have a few good video topics I would like to produce in the near future. Stay tuned!
how are you so good at this with a self bow? I cannot ever get that with my recurve. I shoot a 56 inch recurve. I don't want a 54 inch bow. I would want like about 48 or 50 inch bow with a draw wt of 45 to 50 lbs. And a 29 inch draw.
Hi how does this bamboo bow compare to the Chinese fiberglass horse bow for $50 to $80? I'm looking for legitimate short tip-to-tip 45 lb 50 lb bow for hunting please let me know if the bamboo really makes a big difference . ie between the bamboo and the Chinese fiberglass cheap horse bows thank you.
I have not had a chance to try out the fiberglass horse bows so i wont be able to comment on their shooting performance. I would expect that they probably shoot pretty well, but the mead bow might end up having higher performance from the bamboo limbs which are lighter in mass then fiberglass is. I cant say for sure either way without trying them side to side, but I am positive that either one will provide hours of shooting enjoyment! Enjoy!
Mr. & Mrs. Eliot I bought both. Guess which one I will get first? The Chinese. Due to availability and in stock. It is on way and will be a few days. Mead? 12 wks! Yikes. I paid for mead already. $185. I asked him to make a short horse bow. With 29 inch draw.
Hey !!!! I own two of Dave's bows and will be buying more. All have been delivered in the time frame promised, just as he does with ALL customers. Everyone gets in line. Dave WILL make your bow as promised. Just relax and do business like an adult. If you do't care how long it takes, as you said in your comment, what's the problem ? Why would you think Dave might embezzle you ? Any info re embezzlement the rest of us should know ? NO there isn't. Be sure to leave a light on in the hallway and sleep with your teddy bear.

Great video sir, if you don't mind me asking, how long does the bow last, and does it take much set and string follow overtime?
Great video.I watched this and nick's video, and then started watching Dave's videos.I had to get in touch with him and chat and order my bow.Thanks.
Very nice video! Dave Mead builds the fastest bamboo HorseBow of any HB produced. His FlatBow is not far behind. This is a must have if u dont have one. Buy one soon. U wont regret making this investment. I own several and love to shoot them all!
I love that bow, Got to have one, thanks for sharing
love your choices of weapons and presentation style!
it looks smooth and easy flying to the target..nice bow and good shooting!

I love when a bow does not have an arrow shelf because that means it's ambidextrous!
Great video, could you please review your quiver? It looks awesome

Mr. & Mrs. Eliot if you hold your bow at a 45° angle theres no paradox and the shaft of the arrow doesnt bend im looking into one daves bows as well
Great video, beautiful bow ! Hope you'll film some hunts with it this fall and post them ! I'm going to check out his website ! Thanks :-)
Thanks for the comment! We will try our best to get some hunting footage with the mead horsebow. We are excited to take it hunting this fall and see how it does.
great video.I just ordered one can't wait until it arrives
Thats great to hear! I hope you enjoy it!
Those bows are really good

Very well made bow, but horsebows are intended to be shootd on the outside, using the thumb release. Just that, anyways it remains a good bow
I want to buy one how do i get a price from him and payment method
Nice job ... Both the bow and the review ... Convinced me .... Already talked to David about one of those for me... 😂
In my opinion, to get the real experiences of this bow you have to use thumbdraw method. 😎👍
Agree! And do a khatra with it would be a great experience
I also ordered one of these bows. Thanks
I want to try this bow.
Good review of a nice bow.
What tools were necessary
nice shooting by the way any chance to leave link below for that quiver of yours. interesting design. cheers.

gentleman. i'll try that and see how will it suit to me.cheers mate.
👍I love my Dave Mead bow.

The bow is in the mid 40# weight at my draw length. I purchased my kit for $139 shipped. It is the best deal around for an all natural primitive bow!
Could you tell me what arrow you are using? brand/spine? where to get it? I am thinking of getting one of those bows and need some matching arrows.
I plan on using 40-50 spine wood or bamboo arrows with this bow. I will be using 125-170 grain points depending on what shoots best out of the bow. Nice Cinematography man I found this via Dave's Instagram
Thanks for the nice words!
great video, can't wait to get my kit! TT
Tony, I think you will like it, I sure love mine. Enjoy!

I will stay tuned. God bless you :)
Yeah Duuuude, Dude of the Dudes, me 2 :|
Nice bow 👍 spirit 💪💪💪
Draw weight??? 45, 50,55???
What's the draw weight? Is it offered in different weights?
My bow is the in to 40# range. Dave offers them from around 30# up to 50# draw weights.
Hurrah! Hurrah!
How much was it
Is it good for thumb draw archer?
Yes you can easily shoot it with a thumb draw. It will work just fine!
how are you so good at this with a self bow? I cannot ever get that with my recurve. I shoot a 56 inch recurve. I don't want a 54 inch bow. I would want like about 48 or 50 inch bow with a draw wt of 45 to 50 lbs. And a 29 inch draw.
Sounds like you are perfect for Dave's bow ! Enjoy ... I certainly have and do.
great I think so too

I am happy to hear you purchased both of them. It will be interesting to see which you think after shooting them side by side. Enjoy!
buen video saludos desde sonora state mexico..
MUY BUENO FELICITACIONES !!!
musik e enak men jon mantep... 👍
Why has nobody but byron explained archery paradox, its a necessary calculation for everyone 2 know
if the arrow fly to the left, they just move their aiming to the right. thats what instinctive archer did. didnt care much about the paradox
Bow dari pring alias gedeg
Please give me this bow
Nice.
