Mystery snails are certainly a great clean up crew. Especially for getting rid of your live plants.
Love mystery snails and everyone who visits always asks me about them.😊 The clutches of eggs are easy to remove if you don’t want babies.
Bladder snails and ramhorns are great nano cleaners too. Bladder snails are tiny enough to keep your anubias nana petite clean too!
The little cories are so cute, I love them! I also want to get some Malaysian trumpet snails.
I am a hobby aquascape nano tank lover and I swear nothing works better than mystery snails, they’re just so beautiful to watch and clean algae like no other; sadly I live in EU and in my country they no longer are allowed to be sold; other snails don’t work as well sadly.. wish I just could get two or three of them ..
Team pest snail! My ramshorn and bladder snails keep my tanks pretty clean, and I didn't spend a dime on them. 🐌
Yep, love mine too!
I couldn't find my mystery snail for almost 2 weeks. Then I found it under the cabinet the tank was on. It was all dried out. I was going to throw it away then decided to put it in a cup with tank water. Eventually it started crawling around. Don't throw them out right away!
No way! Glad you saved the little dude!
Nah bro so mystery😅😂😂
I love my shrimp (Amano and neos) and snails (ramshorn and nerite). I keep Ottos as well. I have very hard water and an 8.2 ph. I have had a couple ottos die, but most of mine do well.
I got some pumpkin shrimp on sale from Flip's & they're a lovely contrast to dark hardscape & lots of greenery.
I do love the black, green & orange combo. 😎
I have cherry shrimp and otocinclus in my 15g. Otocinclus go through diatoms and algae and bio film faster than all of the bottom cleaners🎉
Malaysian trumpet snails aren't exactly fancy but they are great little scavengers moping up the bottom. And they can eat a surprising amount if they "have to".
You're looking sparky young lady!!👠
Small snails in mine do clean up. Cool pygmy cories. Nice options Professor Joanna.
Happy Spring, Tom!
I don't really expect my companion animals to work for their food, except assassin snails and to some extent malaysian trumpet snails, but I have kept all of these except pygmy corys, even though I'd love them.
I hope to soon get my hands on C. habrosus, though - and honestly I have surprised myself coming back to the hobby and enjoying Neocaridina as much as I do!
They were only just entering the hobby around here when I went on a decade+ pause, but they've been a treat to learn more about!
Just adorable 🥰
habrosus corydoras are a great little fish - really cute and great behaviour - I have 12 in my 29G and with armano shrimp and Ottos - thats the clean crew up sorted
Nice! Yes, they are super cute - I do want another group soon 😊 you’ve got quite the work groups there!🙌
💚💚💚
Love seeing your tanks!
Thanks for the info- beautiful tanks.😊
Shrimp are cool!
Agreed!
I love the mystery snails their so cute to watch. I'm in the process of purchasing a 20 gallon long. I hope Mr Prime Time can do a content of which fish tank stands are best for 30x12x12.
Great video! Such good ideas.
Hi Bonnie! Thanks so much! Have a lovely Wednesday!
I did a pygmy Cory, clown pleco, kuhli loach combo platter and that worked pretty well.
Those get pretty big and will out grow a tiny tank as far as I know
@huntergreene3453 🤔 Define big.
I guess I should clarify that my "nano" tank is a 14 gallon rimless cube, and none of the fish I listed will outgrow it.
Combo platter?! You’re so funny! That IS a great combo of small cleaners! Ya…clown pleco - good call!
My nano favorites are otocinclus, amano shrimp. I don't really get to turn over fish as my tanks rarely lose a fish.. I've had the same crews for over 5 years lol. I don't have but 4 tanks 2 with bigger fish and two with smaller fish. My smallest tank is a 20 long. My 40 breeder has an eastern musk turtle and his clean up crew is a set of albino chinese algae eaters and bladder snails for turtle snacks. I really wanna do mystery snails in my blood parrot tank but they're bullies.
I use otocinclus and Nerite snails for my cleanup crew. What dark substrate did you use in the tank with cories? I have a bunch of baby cories I need to split up and one of the tanks has a larger gravel that I am not comfortable putting my babies in. Was thinking about redoing the bottom with soil and imagitarium black sand
How do you know how many ahrimp to add to your nano tank. I have a 15 gallon and currently have 12 adult fish and some baby guppies. Woukd you mix Amano Shrimp with Blue Dreams? Like your channel. Just discovered it.
I love seeing your tanks!!! The way you have them scaped and your fish selection. You have gorgeous tanks. I do have a question..... at time stamp 4:15 when you introduce the Cory's, there's a fish with blue stripes down it's side. What kind of fish is that? Are they green neon's? If so, then the blue stripes is throwing me off. 🤔
I like the way you cut the leaves all to one shape and size. Did you use the same leaf type?
I used a craft paper punch on catappa leaves 😊
I would love to have Cherry shrimp in our 20 long female Betta tanks, but only one of them lets them live in peace. The other two will swallow them whole😅 Great video. Your tanks are looking amazing btw🙂
I've been lucky with my bettas... never had an issue other than being curious about the shrimp.
Always had luck with Otos and pygmy corys too.
Have you ever kept rabbit snails? I love everything about them. I've kept a 10 with shrimp and rabbits and loved finding new babies every month or so. They give live birth to the tiniest snails. It's really amazing if you get lucky and see one pop a baby out.
I have been so curious about them! Some day I'll definitely give them a go. Are they rough on any plants?
@Finkeldinken you definitely need to make sure you feed them properly, or they may eat soft leaved plants. But I don't think they were any worse than mystery snails. I gave mine lots of fresh veggies and shrimp pellets (now I have snail specific pellets). I would suggest using caution when introducing them... I do remember them liking a certain plant, but it's been years, and I can't really remember fully. I do remember all my varieties of anubius was fine with them and subwastertang also.
My nerite snail is the BEST cleaner!!
Good to know! Give em a high five ✋ for me!
I just got some cherry shrimp, but I'm not sure what to feed them. Right now, I'm dropping algae-coated plants from other tanks into their tank, but that source won't last forever. Also, don't they need some source of calcium?
You can only keep shrimp with the smallest of fish!
I know you love planted tanks... I;m interested in a mystery snail, but I have heard mixed reports about them eating the aquascape. What has your experience been?
Hi - we’ve never had them eat our plants. As long as the plants are healthy, they should do just fine 😊
Can I have a few Pygmy corydoras with some shrimp?
Yes, cute combo but just possible that baby shrimplets might turn up missing
💚💚🍁💙💙
Have this fairly fine black sand in one of my tanks that keeps getting all over the plants. Should I just keep doing water changes and cleaning off the plants or should I change the substrate all together? Any suggestions?
Have you tried adjusting your filter outflow in different ways? That might help a lot!
What kind of filtration are you running?
If you like the substrate, don't give up on it just yet, is my advice. 😊
@@Finkeldinken I did try different flow settings at first but gave up on that. Will try it again now that it’s been a while longer. I do really like the look of the substrate just not dusted all over my plants 😂. Ty♥️
@@angiebear8727 You're welcome! And also, if you haven't tried changing the design on the nozzle that may very well be worth a go too - I have a tiny power head that is still sometimes a bit too feisty for my tiny puddles, and it has been helpful to just add a little piece of rubber tubing with notches at the end. That disperses the flow from it enough that it goes from borderline useless to actually useful.
I hope you find a good solution!
Would Mopani wood work in an all Neocardina Shrimp tank?
Yeah I have mopani in a neo tank and they've been needing and happy for a long while. It gives a good tint and acidity for them.
@@huntergreene3453 , Thank you.
@@kasperaquatics you're welcome. Hope it turns out awesome for ya.
We love mystery snails here but I definitely want to try the pygmy cory cats in my 10 gallon. Sadly, my favorite mystery snail died this week so that tank is now empty. Well, besides the bladder and ramshorn snail population....
I’m sorry to hear you lost your little buddy. Hope you get a new buddy soon and, yes, you’d love a group of Pygmy cc’s!
@@thesmallscape thank you! We still have 9 other mystery snails (ahem) but she was my little fighter. She never grew very big and was in terrible shape at the petco. Honestly we kind of thought of her as a rescue!
Love ramshorns and amano shrimp for cleaning my tanks and their looks. I've tried mystery snails and nerites, but for whatever reason they don't live long in my water.
Not for everyone, but I prefer pink ramshorn snails. They will eat any and everything. Nothing us off their menu, including dead plants and fish.
I didn’t know that bettas and mystery snails could have possible issues. I’ve had mystery snails and bettas in the same tank for 6 months with no issues at all. I do understand that this might not be the same for every betta personality. I’ve just had good luck, I guess.
To clarify, I don’t keep more than one betta per tank.
Us as well but we hear a lot of folks say they’ve had way too curious bettas. 💁🏻♀️
Never had a betta be rude to mystery snails.. I did have one boy who harassed a rabbit snail to the point I removed the snail for its safety.
Nah I just bought 10 albinos cory cause it's looks elegant for me and new project arrived I will buy all albinos predator fish like Oscar, bichir, and also clean up crew plecos😅
HAPPY WEDNESDAY !
scuds....nano cleanup experts !
Morning! Hmm…not familiar..
@@thesmallscape scuds, sideswimmers, freshwater amphipods.....look em up.
I have them in all my tanks, the fish eat some and some survive and breed.
I've been wanting to grow these as food... interesting idea on keeping them in the same tank!
Where can i find them Lil critters? Any online breeders?
Careful with scuds in a nano tank. Most nano critters can't eat the adults and they can decimate plants. I lost a beautiful crypt garden to scuds. Scud is a common name, there are a ton of species called scuds, some are detritivores, but the ones I got were much more vegetarian.
