Ultimately, Christianity has been called the easiest and hardest religion ever at the same time since God gives us everything and has sacrificed Himself for us yet demands everything in every way from us. Much of this isn't easy to recognize and really impossible to comprehend. Timothy Keller provides the example of the young girl aiming to become a missionary as someone who devoted everything and was willing to risk her life yet realized that she hadn't really given herself to God but rather an idealized notion of what God's plans should be; and did have enough faith to invest everything in a certain way but hadn't focused on how the only thing we can have Faith in the future is God's only promise being to restore creation one day when He brings Heaven to Earth. So many people will go to church for a lifetime and be untouched by the true Gospel or even as believers won't live out their lives fully as such.
I loved that woman's courage and honesty! She was angry with God, she was open and honest, and struggled. God showed her what she missed and she got relief and a new vision!
AWalkingHat : She found her absolute assurance in Christ and not in something else such as a concocted dream of her own heart’s making; additionally she will receive her due reward in heaven. Since I have known the Saviour’s name, And what for me he bore, No more I toil for empty fame, I thirst for gold no more. Placed by his hand in this retreat, I make his love my theme; And see that all the world calls great, Is but a waking dream. - John Newton
@@Andrew-dc7nlhelp me understand better pls. This girl spending this much time and effort in a dream out of sincere love toward Jesus unfortunately found at the last minute that it seemed a waste and misled journey because she emphasized too much on her own will? Isn’t that what you really will/desire could well be from God’s plan for you? How could we know what really should do to avoid similar detour?
Must listen again❤
Another great sermon! RIP brother! 🙏♥️🙏

Who can give Jesus what He adequately deserves? Nobody. It will take an eternity to do this.

There is no half ways with God
This is wonderful. Worth listening to.
An exceptional presentation of a human living sacrifice of self to a loving God ,for a freedom to serve the living God.
Incredible.
Tim Keller is the bomb! Jesus is Lord! Move on out. Hup 2...3...4
Amen :)
Thank you Mr. Keller
The young woman's story in Dr. John Gershner's sermon starts at 9:10.
And what happened to the missionary girl afterwards? I think it is a relevant element of the story to understand God's work in her life.
it's a sermon, not a biography. He told what was relevant to his message.

What happened to the woman who dedicated her life for mission in Asia? Did she marry and go to Asia for the Lord?
At the beginning reading of Romans 12:1, the reader mispronounced "a living sacrifice"... not sacrifices.
Great sermon. Does anyway know where on UA-cam the follow up sermon on this is ? ( He mentioned on the intro). Thanks.
In the description there's a link to the series. If you're still looking? 😊
