Lemmo has a natural affinity for the Fender tones. There’s a very soulful quality to his playing when he uses one.
Jesus, the first thing was incandescent. Glorious.
I know, right?
@@geromelegnome5446 Reminds me of The Doors' "Indian Summer", but improved upon.
@@waybackplayback1347 jeez that is a blast from my past, I agree but hadn't listened to that in a long time... Like probably over a decade. Until just now after reading your comment!!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
@@geromelegnome5446 anytime, man. That's why they call me wayback playback.
It was beautiful
First guitar review that doesn't use fully cringe distortion fuzzy sound so that you can't even distinguish the original sound of the guitar omg it's a blessing wow
What an insane player lemmo is..just wow!
One of the best for sure! I take notes every time I watch him play. All guitar players can pick up things from him.
Probably one of his best guitar of the day in my opinion! Need more stuff like this! 🤘
Probably the best GOTD by Lemmo to date in my opinion. The first song, and I'd never thought I'd hear anyone else play "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" that well other than Brand New. Both of those sent chills and almost tears. Bravo Lemmo! Fantastic episode!
Totally spot on!
Can't believe he played The Quiet Things... That rendition was so beautiful.
Lemmo is cooler than the other side of the pillow.
I came here to heart what a thinline sounds like now I'm crying over my homework thanks lemmo
Lemmo is one of my fav guitarist all time
Man Lemmo's playing is so genuinely inspiring.
Absolutely beautiful guitar!
What beautiful playing that stopped time 4 me wow
Thanks for the hours of amazing music Lemmo
Never know what he’s gonna bring next. Always amazing! Cheers NRG!
in 1972, my dad bought a 72 tele standard. sold it to a buddy in in 79, and is getting it back next month after not seeing it for 42 years! it will never be sold out of the family ever again. I collect guitars and this one is getting framed and hung on my office wall!
5:55 LUSH... SHOEGAZER... DREAM POP... EXCELLENT!
My dream guitar. Does humbuckers are the “holy grail” of pickups. They are almost impossible to replicate the same way.
Good guitar+ good player= happiness!!
My absolute most favorite Tele. Just can't go wrong. Just one of the most versatile Guitars ever.
My all time favorite guitar! I have a MIM 72’ Thinline reissue and I love it! Great review and thanks for the content🤓
I have one of those too! I love it. Not sure why they aren't more popular, it's such a cool looking guitar.
Just straight out of the mind of our friend Michael Lemmo!I mean I never met him but I call him a friend.
And, I don't know if Norm did it on purpose or even thought about it but the transition from Mark and playing covers that we all loved to Lemmo and his original stuff is an awesome change. Loved Marks shows and I thought I would hate the change but I love this guys' home grown little gems he brings to us and this one was really special.
I really think the early 70's tele's with the Seth Lover CuNife wide range humbuckers are seriously underrated guitars, the custom, deluxe, and thinline are really great guitars (if you get a good one) with really unique special set of pickups. And usually great with delays and reverb as Lemmo said. Love the 70's maple necks as well. They're ageing well.
Awsome playing from Lemmo today as well!!!
The thinline Tele was a design Leo came up with in 72' It truly is a unique sounding guitar. The semi-hollow body and seth lover pickups make for a open airy tone yet fat and full bodied. It can accommodate a wide range of textures and genres of music. The ash body gives it that extra depth and body of tone. Another master class by Lemmo. Bravo Jen and Michael.
This is the type of music I love to hear on guitar. I’ve been struggling to figure out which first guitar I should get because no one ever plays soft/soulful music like this so I can’t tell which one would sound the best
You’re probably overwhelmed with information. I can’t tell you what to get. I’m sure you’d been suggested all sorts of stuff. But I think regardless of what guitar you decide on you’re probably into brighter, lower (
@@cjaquilino IDK if you'll see this but I'm also speculating on which guitar to get as my first and was looking at the fender '72 classic player thinline tele, is that similar to the one in the vid?
@@SuluCandles1 It is similar to this.
But it’s crucial to look into what kind of pickups are in the new one. Because they basically stopping making copies of the original pickups after the 70s.
So the 72 Classic Player Tele Thinline doesn’t have the exact same pickups: www.tdpri.com/threads/the-fender-wide-range-humbucking-pickup-past-and-present.716600/
@@cjaquilino I went ahead and got the classic player, seemed like the closest i can get to that coldplay sound. Any tips? :)
@@SuluCandles1 I like that guitar. Great choice. You’ll do fine.
And I’d worse came to worse and for some reason you didn’t like the pickup sound as much as you might in this video, modern alternatives exist that can be easily swapped in.
It’ll also hold up in value for resale if you ever changed your mind. But it’s a great guitar to have. Cheers.
It always is a good day when lemmo brings his looper to work
I had one exactly like this one, in just as good of shape. Absolutely the best guitar I ever owned and I've owned a bunch. While going through a divorce in 1996, I pawned this guitar for $350 and never went back to retrieve it. This video makes me want to throw up.
Thinlines have a sound all there own. Nice.
One of the best GOTD for me right there, what a player!
My dream guitar ❤️❤️❤️
Out of the park.
The neck pickup piece was... medicinal, before anything else... A privilege to witness it all, cheers.
The second bit with the "chords over lead" is just so Cocteau Twins. I was surprised to hear the sound emerge from such a simple thing.
I came very close to buying one of those back in 1977. But I played a regular tele for comparison and fell in love with it. I payed $150 for a 1973 standard telecaster and I still have it to this day. As Ferris Bueller says " If you can afford one I highly recommend it."
The guitars on this channel are super cool, but the real star of the show is Lemmo and his incredible musical ideas. Never seen him repeat the same thing twice, and everything sounds so good.
That first section was insane. Incredible playing.
Stunning
Wow, that first one was ridiculously amazing.
One for the highlight reel! Fantastic and thank you.
Oh my gosh! BOiNG! Just beautiful!
"Purdy" guitar and " purdy" playin' Lemmo ! Thank ya Jen ! 😎🎸🎶👍
I had a feeling this guitar was gonna be awesome as soon as he pulled it out of the case. That first loop jam was incredible! Almost hypnotic!
BRAND NEW!!!! Hell yeah . Top 5 favorite band
Lemmo you are one of the best players around!!!!!!!
Original music is hard to find in the boardrooms of businesses, but anyone can appreciate M Lemmo’s gifts. Norm knew
Simply gorgeous!
Another outstanding performance by my favorite guitar player on UA-cam. It doesn’t hurt that he’s playing my favorite guitar. The fender thin line with the light pick guard is very special. I flip flop on whether I like the earlier single coils or the hum bucket pickups. But I really enjoy Michaels playing. He’s my only upside during the pandemic.
That was my favorite guitar of the day 🖖🏻. Such tone, much feel
Was so inspired by the sound of that guitar and this video, that I built a warmoth version of it with the reissue CuNiFes. But with a modernized 10" radius neck, locking tuners, 4 bolt neck, tall narrow stainless frets and 525k pots. Surprisingly, it sounds just like this example. A pleasant appreciated stroke of luck because I'm absolutely loving it.
Creates out of thin air...
“Let’s go for it.” ❤️
Great playing on a very nice guitar! Thank You!
YES!! Brand new was one of my all time fav bands in high school!
Hey Jen, please show Lemmo’s pedals occasionally when he’s reaching down playing with them. Great GOTD!
It would be good to see a rig run-down from Lemmo some time. :)
Or just a shout out to what he's using
It’s GOTD though. They’re not doing this stuff just for posterity lol
I have a MIM 72 Reissue Thinline Teley hat looks just like it, that was made in like 2005ish and I love it.
Lemmo, you once again gave us a simply perfect GOTD. Thank you Jen for your awesome job at capturing the moment. Cheers!
Lemmo's playing is amazing, but it was really the Clientele that made me fall in love with this guitar.
Lemmo, I've watched nearly all your demos. This was the first GoTD in which you interspersed the playing with explanations for what to listen for or how the guitar responds to particular effects. It was really informative and you came off as very conversational. Nice work, man. Keep that up!
And the best UA-camr's watch Award goes to Mr. Lemmo 😄
I watch a lot of guitar demos and this was OUTSTANDING! AWESOME guitar playing. Love it!
Yes! Please continue at least occasionally with the practice of letting the music play as an outtro while you say your goodbye. Really nice touch.
That neck pickup is so nice. Love the loop with the harmonic too. Lemmo is a beast with the looper pedal
Fantastic playing!
Michael ,Thank You so very much for finally doing a 1972 Fender Telecaster Thinline. When I was 15 I would go into the guitar room after taking a lesson from Dan Murski who played a Fender Jaguar and pull the Tele down and play it...I wanted to buy that Guitar but didn't have the $326.At the time I played an Epiphone that looked like a Strat.I quit playing after a year and a half and just recently bought an American Standard Stratocaster which I like a lot but still don't have the discipline to play it and get any good.Anyway THANK YOU for bringing back the memories.from Ray in Michigan
I had that exact model in the early 1990's. It was stolen by a flatmate...
The recent Squier copy is pretty decent but the poly is a bit thick.
Sand it off the neck You will thank me later LoL 😂 Being a Squier it's no big deal I did it to my 72 strat No regrets Feels great now
Classic Mellow Yellow Lemmo.
I KNOW it's not really yellow....
Blonde

Is this a list of all the guitar brands they've reviewed?
@@pearsights all the Lemmo guitars, yes.
No BC rich?
You really need to repair that hole in your head 😬
I thought this was someone's private collection. I was adding this up to see if his was bigger than mine. He who dies with the most guitars wins. Ask Joe B.
Never thought I'd hear Brand New on GOTD.
For reals
What song is it?
@@ThistleThings he throws the riff in from The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows into the last jam.
This dude has the most electic and diverse tastes in music! A true lover of music.
The way lemmo plays gives me the feels. Even if it’s not the most difficult thing to play, his embellishments and how he can increase or decrease the intensity of what he’s playing kinda makes you get lost in the song. Very cool.
That's a stunning piece of art. I'm about to swap my noiseless pickups for 2 Seymour duncan humbuckers on my AM Deluxe thinline 2015. Awesome instrument. I love it dearly.
Dude I feel like I’ve watched this guy grow into a complete master or into his prime or something. Maybe there’s more to come, just gonna have to see
Best guitar I have ever heard was Jerry Garcias guitars Tiger and Wolf. The tone is unmatched.
Lemme you are so talented and an inspiration for me to keep playing
Those wide ranging humbuckers are killer! Way underrated for a long time. They've started getting the attention they deserve. Getting expensive to buy too! Fender only made them for a couple of years. I used to see them sell for $100-$200, now they sell for well over a thousand. All the reproduction thinline variations through the years have standard humbuckers that are hidden under WRa similar looking pup cover.
Thinline are awesome. Go ahead. Buy one.
I really appreciate the tips Mike dropped after song 2. Things like what bands utilise specific guitars and how to get the most out of them.
He’s a rare talent
Beautifully played❤
I love that grain on the back!! Too cool!!!
Great playing Michael. Love your style and feel. Just the perfect touch no matter what guitar you are playing. I do love Fenders too. Look forward to guitar of the day. Specially Tele Tuesday.
Also love you Jen. Whoooo
Beautiful Tele! Great little lesson on melodies and chords!
One of the best sounding Mexican fenders
Amazing.
Wow. I never thought I would hear a GOTD demo where Lemmo plays some Brand New. Thanks for the bit of 'The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows"
Thank you Lemmo!
Realy beautiful, man.
Big fan of this guitars tone. You did a great job capturing it.
Lemmo killing it as always
A little slice of electric 6 string Heaven-
That tele is so beautiful
I have the reissue of this guitar! It's my favorite to play
Amazing tone
What a classy player, Nice job Michael 👍
I have two of these, both in natural as in the video. but i use it differently. for blues rock and straight down rock music. they are so marvellous! the wide range hambuckers were developed by Seth Lover after he practiced around with the Gibsons.
and these axes can take basically every abuse, and stay in tune for weeks, more or less. my absolute favs among my guitars, and else we are talking strats, Tele standards and ES 335. so actually, one hell of a guitar
Stellar Playing!!
I have one of these in excellent condition. Bought it used for $150 many years ago.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️thank you!
I have the same one, but in black.. great guitar!
More of this stuff!!!
man... that first thing you played gave me John Martyn feels
