    Two plad shirts? What a pair, good advice just the same. Update: after watching this video one year ago I've healed my torn meniscus, I was patient, changed my diet, juiced carrots and veggies which I was told would help, lost weight, did not load my knee by lifting and overwork. Im 67 and the doctor recommended a new knee! But im amazed that it healed, I also prayed and asked God to heal my knee.
    He did. Thanks plad guys

    My take is torn meniscus really only “needs” surgery if you have reduced motion in your knee. Like it gets locked into place because some torn cartilage is causing the knee to be stuck. Other than that, keep that cartilage in place and just do what you have to do for relief, because removing the cartilage will eventually lead to arthritis, which then will require a knee replacement. I have a meniscus tear, and sometimes it’s not certain if the pain is the tear or tight muscles (hip, groin, quad, ham, calf). So I just stretch all of them, use the hot tub, and then get a lot of sleep. And the pain tends to go away.

    • @omstygomsty
      @omstygomsty 11 місяців тому +1

      Depends on the grade of the tear and how it happened. I've a traumatic injury to the medial meniscus. Grade 3 tears tend not to be stable. Im going to give it a few months before I decide on surgery.Only issue is the knee clicks like hell from the tear. If i need to I will get a meniscus cadaver in my knee and that will buy me 10 more years. After that its a partial knee which last about 15 and after that a full knee 20 . But I think with advancements in medical tech and bio tech and gene therapy will allow total regeneration of joints in the next 20 years. In 30 years can you imagine what theyl be able to do.

    I have a torn acl, pcl, and shattered meniscus from bmx riding in a local skate park. It happened at age 17 and I'm now 35. I'm wrery about how I flex my knee and I don't run much anymore. A doc claimed that I'd heal naturally, however, it shifts on occasion. It will never heal on it's own, and without surgery it will continue to be an issue. I'm not sure of the intent of this video, but I can say that meniscus injuries are nothing to ignore.

    Im seeking a professional or semi professional opinion.... I got into a motorcycle accident and am scheduled for MRIs and Dr says ill most likely need to be worked on... Is it true or false that if I can move/flex my knee in the direction that requires meniscus or MCL tension, that it's safe to say it's not a grade 3 tear? I know they want my insurence money, but I would much rather heal naturally over time and care... During the stress test when pushing from the outside of my right knee, it bends inward towards my left knee, but I can also stand on it with a cruch and even flex it in that direction...

    • @AaronLeBauer
      @AaronLeBauer Рік тому +1

      hey James, without seeing you in person here in our clinic, it's impossible for me to give you a personal recommendation or opinion, however, I can say that not all meniscus tears or ACL tears need to be "fixed". It all depends on your level of activity and the nature of the injury.
      when someone is scheduled for a knee surgery, the best outcomes are physical therapy first and getting them to a point that they don't feel like they need the surgery. Then at that time you can decide if the surgery is beneficial.
      My best advice is to get a 2nd and even 3rd opinion from someone who's not a surgeon, such as a doctor of physical therapy. You can check our directory of out of network PT's who will likely spend a good hour with you here www.cashptdirectory.com/
      and our broader PT directory here www.everypt.com/

    I just found out I have a bucket handle tear in my medial meniscus and my knee is locked and I can't fully straighten my leg and my doctor said I needed surgery but I don't want to do surgery. Would physical therapy help to get my leg to straighten back out.

    • @johnb3772

      It might pop back, but if it's from the part with poor bloodflow, it will never stabilize and will continue to pop out.

    I'm sorry I don't really understand the logic of this I have pain in my knee right where my meniscus was torn is proven by ultrasound how is getting a full work up gonna help me and why would it be something else other than my knee that's hurting me I just I'm trying to understand the point of you that you're communicating here

      i think the point they are making is that a torn meniscus doesn't always create pain or discomfort. After meniscus surgery some people still have the same pain so perhaps something else might be causing the pain.

    • @LeBauerPT
      @LeBauerPT  Рік тому +1

      @@fredflintstone8569 yes, that's exactly it. We can do an MRI of people without knee pain and still find tears in the meniscus. Sometimes it's a muscle referring pain to the knee and if we do an MRI we'll "find" something to operate on. Pain is complex.

    Three days ago, while crawling on my knees on a hard surface for about a half hour doing a job, I felt sudden severe pain on left knee. I could stand without aggravating the pain. No pop sound, swelling, temperature or locking, just a feeling something was out of place and pain. I could stand with a hipper extended leg without pain but bending knee slightly forward while standing (as in walking) caused significant pain for a second. If continue the bend further, pain would disappear. I had full mobility without pain: leg up and down while in bed. Knees to chest and back down, legs away and back towards my body, and twisting foot, squat and back up was fine, except this very small spot in the range of motion of bending or pushing my leg forward slightly as in the beginning of walking motion. Today, three days later, I almost feel no pain, but a tiny bit of it is still there, leg feels a tiny bit unstable but does not feel as unstable as an ACL tear, i did manipulate my leg to determine this and it seems quite solid, no loose movement that I can tell. I'll be seeing a doctor if not totally well in a few days, until then, what do you think? (BTW, I felt lateral pain on inside as I touch with my thumb about an inch away were leg bones meet (tibia Plateau?) quite dull strong pain to the touch).

    I disagree. The surgery is the correct approach for fixing everything. 3 months daily Physiotherapy will fix the overall movement issues and prepare you for the long term. The costs will be less due to prevention. The time is not on your side.

    It’s fairly noninvasive surgery to have a torn manicus.

    • @LeBauerPT
      @LeBauerPT  Рік тому +2

      that depends on your perspective. it's less invasive than a knee replacement, but it's still "invasive" and could cause blood clots, infections, loss of sensation, loss of activity and it might not "fix" the real issue :-D

    I tore my meniscus at age 65 . I cured it by eating HYDROLYZED COLLAGEN.
    I was not able to even walk. After 3-4 months of collagen , I started feeling less pain and was able to start light exercise and sports. After 7 months I was able to start playing tennis, squash and hockey again at a lesser intensity and now at age 74 I am playing these sports again with the same intensity as before with just the natural degree of slowing down due to my age.
    Surgery cures NOTHING

      Hi need your advice please! I just got the news of a meniscus tear.

    • @leonmaliniak
      @leonmaliniak Рік тому

      @@poccagirl1703 I cured it by eating HYDROLYZED COLLAGEN, which is a refined form of GELATIN, which is easier to absorb and which makes it bioavailable. Once a day, a teaspoon in my morning coffee.
      Another supportive measure which I used and which is recommended by numerous therapists on UA-cam is to SWING your leg using weights on your ankles which creates traction, separation and space and allows curative blood circulation to enter an area which has little blood supply.
      I understand that the shape and location of the tear also has a lot to do with the prospects of success and there is no consensus on what shape of tear is most responsive...so all you can do is try. Surgery cures nothing, it just removes debris.
      Good luck
