My father and I used to go to "The Redwood" every weekend looking for records and comic books going back to the late '80s. Sometimes even set up to sell stuff. Extended family used to own the place, but they sold it recently. Some vendors never change. We got food and paper products from the vendors in a pinch. I haven't been there in a year or so, but we'll probably spend a day selling one day this fall.

You never know what awaits you when you cross that bridge.... 0:02...!
It was my typical Friday off from work recently. Sitting on my tawlett at 7:17 in the morning, figgering out which town to hit in CT upstate of where I live. When I saw "Redwood Flea Market" just a hop skip and a jump away from the Sleeping Giant.
I'll admit, driving by this gig along the Turnpike Road it doesn't look like much.. until you park at the north end and, as I said, walk across the wooden bridge connecting the main parking with the flea market itself. It's actually quite big once you're on the lot, long and narrow, and on a per-square-foot basis, actually packs in as much merchandise as some places north of Danbury!
I consider myself the "anti-Boutique", anti-bling type, so I fit right in at the Redwood: Stuff for common folk, from every imaginable hand or power tool, to the cases to keep them in, world war memorabila, books, records, CDs, toys, bric-a-brac, accessories such as purses, wallets and belts, and several vendors of home-grown produce and potted plants. One guy was even selling and trading comic books the day I went. A lady, destination signs she hand-paints, herself.
The building in the middle of the lot looks like it was a former eatery, and has a port-a-Jon next to it, plus mens and womens rooms inside the back of the building itself. One of the vendors keeps their wares inside it, and sets it all up on tables on the front side of the building, facing the roadway.
Plus a little restaurant "DJM Redwood Grille" I think, at the south end of the property, selling comfort food for all ages. You can plan your visit by arriving early, work your way down one side of the lot, then, stop in for a burger or pancakes at the restaurant, then browse your way back up the other side, on your way back to the wooden bridge and where you parked. I'm sure they're open, even on days when the flea market is closed, and they have their own smaller parking lot just south of the restaurant along the Turnpike Road.

I'm glad you liked it! That flipbook was interesting. I'm not sure what a hula dancer has to do with the World's Fair, but whatever. Thanks for watching!

"Expired " food is actually "best by." After that date it might lose a little of its flavor or texture, but it usually doesn't hurt you, and you might not notice the difference..

True. In a former life I drove a delivery truck for a dairy distributor, and dairy was fine most of the time past the date. Usually it was fine for about a week past. Though we picked up the product from our retailers on that date , drivers were able to take home the expired products, which in my experience was always fine.
I hope the cereals at the flea market were priced low and of help to people not able to afford the highest prices cereal has ever been.

True. I think that the dry goods will probably taste fine for at least 6 months past their best by date (just totally pulling that number out of the air). I would be more concerned about the canned goods or other "wet" goods. Thanks for watching.

Yes, I wouldn't pay anywhere near full retail for food with an expired best by date. Like we said in the video, nothing was priced and I don't like to ask for prices if I don't intend to buy something. Thanks for watching.

They're open Saturday and Sunday right? Is it better to go on Saturday in case dealers move to another flea market for Sunday?

Some times the food sellers at flea markets are way over priced. Sometimes above store retail. Some of the food sold at flea markets is dumpster dive finds. All good. Just don't pay too much for it. I would have loved it if you would have asked the prices on the food.

Greetings tom, just wanna say i enjoy your videos. I usually dont like when you tubers involve their parents in videos but i have to say your mom is very chill & does not degrade your content. She seems like a very nice woman. Ive watched some you tube videos with resellers and it just ruins it for me when they involve their parents and i just stop watching them but thats not the case with your videos. Your mom is very cool.
Keep up the informative content, thanks.

The food in the restaurant used to be okay but last year someone took it over and it is horrible. Don't do it LOL.

I had a good cheesebuger done to order there last week. Very reasonable prices also. If you're looking for gourmet, or Fairfield county coastline fare, you either need to adjust your expectations, or consider eating elsewhere.
