Also you : “I checked Ebay before I bought it”
I have to agree. But we have a saying. You probably heard it. It you want e-bay prices. Sell it on e-bay.
Now I had to add one more comment. At least it wasn't to bad. I'm sure you see it. Oh e-bay is 150 and your price will be 150. Thank You. :)
@@idahofur don’t matter tho the price is the price 🤝
@@japan7855 Yes that is true. You saw the other video of the person who wouldn't really budge on the price. Yea, it is the sellers right. But still, interesting.
Exactly they check ebay all the time and go to yard sales to find "deals" aka "let's try and find stuff that people don't know what they have and rip them off" I check pricing every time I'm selling something so I know if im selling to a reseller or someone who's an actual collector. Resellers I'll try to rip off all day cause resellers and scalpers r the worst... Ill help a collector out all day but never a reseller or a scalper.
"I'll need to check on eBay" isn't usually a good sign *but* she then asked less than half the low end price. It would be nice if more people took such a realistic approach.
Maybe she took into account the 13% they take, plus shipping, and offered a discount off that...too bad the football didn't go same way.
Yes
How is it a realistic approach??? She was just trying to not get ripped off.. All these "pickers and resellers" check ebay for everything they sell yet when someone does it to them its a problem.
@@subzero308 re-read his comment...you misunderstood it
@@subzero308 It's a realistic approach because you can't expect to realise eBay prices at a yard sale. If you could then eBay wouldn't exist and resellers would simply pile their wares on tables in their yard.
EBay offers access to a much wider potential customer base at the cost of extra work and fees. If you want those prices then sell on eBay.
I hate when they bring up eBay prices at a garage sale. If it’s that much on eBay then go list it on eBay!
Why cuz they want to get what it’s worth? If you don’t like the price then move on and don’t cry about it
@@zeroskatersr they want eBay price but don’t wanna deal with eBay problems such as fees, shipping, possible returns etc. I don’t mean to sound too worked up, it is a minor thing in the end just a bit annoying
@@zeroskatersr dude its a garage sale haha
She obviously sells on ebay herself. Prolly why she had so many Priority mail boxes laying around
@@zeroskatersr your exactly right. And I bet all these people complaining about it would so the same thing but without saying ebay outloud. Anyways she looked it up and gave him a more than fair price. She didnt say 160 like ebay said she said 50 he obviously thought it was a great deal cause he agreed to the 50 immediately
Before my next yard sale I'm going to list everything on eBay with $1,000,000 each just so I can tell everyone what its listed for on eBay haha
Good luck
Actually Genius!👍👍
I sometimes wish us sellers would ban together and do that. Then buyers would have no choice. Then i think about it as a buyer myself sometimes and I'm like eek noo!
😂😂
Legend
The wife wasn’t that bad. She admitted she was planning on selling it on eBay and gave it to you for a decent price. The husband on the other hand, just casually throwing out high numbers was an idiot who doesn’t know how eBay works and lost a sale.
Then sell it on eBay, guy! Not at a garage sale, where prices are expected to be lower.
@@marywatkins6798 Not to mention the fact the eBay also involves packing and shipping that the seller needs to handle themselves. So trying to sell at a garage sale with eBay prices is just asking the buyer to do all the work for you. To hell with that.
Yeah he was an idiot for looking up prices... Meanwhile I watch these videos all the time and see them rip off the seller all the time... Y not tell someone what they have? Resellers wanna rip people off but don't wanna pay fair prices... That's why I try and rip off resellers and scalpers as much as possible.
@@marywatkins6798 where is that a rule??? 😂 a lot of referrals in the comments salty they can't rip people off ctfu.
@@darklordojeda then move on and leave simple as that.
People having yard sales: "If I can't sell it here, I'll sell it on ebay." THEN SELL IT ON EBAY HAHAHHA
Well they will if it doesn't sell at their yard sale...If you're already having a yard sale then why not try and sell it there? But yeah shame on them for not giving someone a steal only for them to flip it for 3X the amount
@@JoeyLawerence2 99 times out of 100, they won't list it on Ebay, it's more work than it seems like. And if they do list it, with bad pictures, bad prices, bad titles, bad description, high shipping costs.. it'll never sell and just collect dust in their garage. If someone wants Ebay prices, they should do Ebay work.
First, that's completely anecdotal. 2nd, so be it. It's theirs to sell, keep, whatever. These are typically not pro resellers and probably aren't desperate to unload some items for bottom of the barrell prices so Joe Blow can flip it for 5X the amount because he sells on eBay. They don't owe you by coming down to what you want to pay so you can make a profit. Also, I sell on eBay and while more difficult than a yard sale it's not nearly as difficult as you make it sound. Especially if you're selling sparingly.
If you don't like the price just move on. Complaining about it when you're goal is to sell for that same price is pretty low.
@@JoeyLawerence2 They should have figured out the prices before the sale. Looking up things as you go is tacky as h.
@@JoeyLawerence2 a steal? Do you even sell on eBay? It’s a pain in the ass to take pics, list, and ship items. It takes a lot of research to even become a seller on eBay and learn the ropes
i love when people check ebay and they just look at listings and not "recently sold". I could list the same football for 1000000, doesn't mean anything
Why would you though , no sane person would do that.
The lady “ the fishing stuff is in the back” he goes straight to some luggage lol
That was my thought...LOL.."all the guys are looking for the fishing stuff" and John heads to the foofy Red Luggage ;)
@@barbknight7803 Fishing for dollars... He know's where big money is at.
Was more irked by the husband rifling off eBay prices for the football then just walking away.
Same. Douchey.
For real lol good luck getting those prices at garage sale 🤣
Right, Hey guy.. CP just bought a bunch of shit, least you can do is handle YOUR business like a man.
He gave a price don't like it then leave simple as that.
@@TONYTHETlGER him buying a bunch of shit don't mean shit IDC if u bought everything I had out my price is my price... I aint gonna help no reseller out fuck that lol.
I can’t stand those “oh well eBay says this….” people.🤣🤣🤣 Garage sell prices are not eBay prices. Garage sell prices are low for quick selling.
I hate when people try to bring up online prices to get you to pay more for something they don’t even want anymore
Problem is most people look up Asking prices for stuff on ebay, not the SOLD prices. But still 50.00 for that Lego is a steal. Legos are like Gold, go nowhere but up!
Yeah I ran into a guy wanting to sell his 8mm Camera and he went to ebay and the prices were all over the Place. I told him here is a perfect example. Look up corningware see those items selling for 6k? They are never going to sell for 6k. People can ask what they want but it's what has sold that counts and some items never move.
Shouldn't go by "sold" because people get lucky in auctions
Just because someone wins an item for 20 bucks doesn't mean it isn't worth more
Lego is NOT like Gold! Lego is a pain in the ass to sell, and rarely does it go for more than retail price. Of course there are a few exceptions, but for the most part Lego, especially opened "bulk" Lego is not going to get much profit.
@@lattiedavis5450 haha... You're totally right. It's basically worthless.
It can't be mentioned enough the class, patience and poise you bring to every garage sale. I believe in the end people want to make deals with you because they find you so pleasant.
Well why don’t you sell it on eBay , pay fees eBay and PayPal then buyer returns ask refund
Box it go post office , all the hassle 😎😎😎
Because it’s okay to want what it’s worth… not everyone has to sell things for dirt cheap… if you ain’t mad that a resale person sell it for what it’s worth. Then it’s okay for anyone else to want the same…
@@zeroskatersr u seem mad. Did ebay hurt u?
@@Yupitsmeagain2 he’s right tho fool
She only brought it out because he asked her to
She does sell on ebay you goof. Notice all the priority mail boxes laying around. And she knew her way around ebay. And anyways she still gave him a hell of a deal. She didnt even come close to the ebay listing prices
When they say "Let me check eBay", I will walk away most times. $50 was not bad for the Lego set though. Nice work! You were more patient than I would have been!
I always love how kindly you handle everybody at garage sales. Keep it up man!
Thanks! Appreciate you watching!
That looks like a “baby bell” sign. I would have grabbed that as well. Back when they actually enforced monopoly laws, baby bells were local phone companies before they all got merged into AT&T.
Yes, and AT&T used the bell as their logo. Every baby bell that I've ever seen used it too, so I think it was originally for "Bell Telephone", which was sort of over all the baby bells, then AT&T bought out bell and the rest is history, as they say.
I worked for a baby bell and my father is on his 50th year working for a bell. He started when he was 16.
I’d love to purchase the sign from you when you list it!
Fun watching the negotiations. The lady with the Lego seemed tired of it all. You really scored on that! Nice woman!
I was telling Matt “oh my gosh he trusted her! He paid the $50!” Not knowing you had already searched comps 🤣 Good score and even better use of grade school math 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Your channel is really good for us newer people who are just learning about this side hustle/business. You help show me what I should buy when I see it and it helps a lot for sure: I did my first garage sale hunt this last weekend and felt weird using my phone to look things up but was good to see you use your phone too sometimes
09:25 "Oh you want the VCR? Great, let me just get you a printer to go with it."
I went to an estate sale in Middletown yesterday and it was advertised "priced to sell" too bad it was priced with Ebay prices. I didn't give up looking tho and did find a few things they didn't realize were worth anything.
That’s the best when you can catch them slipping
@@cincinnatipicker I actually shouted you out on your advice about never giving up at overpriced estate sales on my upcoming video because your words popped in my head when I first walked in and felt deflated seeing the prices so thank you for the reminder 🤑
@@michaeljohn2290 and what's the difference between an estate sale or garage sale overpricing something and trying to "get" someone by hoping someone will just blind buy it? If people are trying to squeeze every dollar they can for profit, then I'm going to try and purge every dollar I can to buy. I see sales having items priced way over what they're actually selling for all the time. Because 9/10 people don't know about eBay sold/complete listings.
Too many resellers out there due to covid the market will soon to get drier and drier.
Excellent video as always, John! Love hearing your thoughts on why you pick stuff up and what you expect to get for them.
Love the videos brother I came across your channel when I was deployed in the Middle East about two years ago I’m stationed at fort Carson Colorado but I’m from Cincinnati so it made me feel more at home seeing this stuff. Keep up the good quality brother!
Thanks Kenneth! And thank you for your service!
I'm sorry when the youtuber's mention yard sellers checking ebay, isn't that the first thing they all do before making a decision to buy it, so no one should be surprised anymore. We all want a deal and sellers want as much as they can for their items.
You have a point, but yard sellers fail to realize that eBay can get the prices they get because the item can be seen by millions of people potentially over the course of several months. They aren't as likely to get that *one* buyer who'd happen to be one of the 40 people who show up to the day-long yard sale. The reseller doesn't have to purchase it at the higher yard sale price, and it is the yard seller who is more likely to end up at the end of the day with the item taking up space and no money for it.
Actually, the way that she did that was actually quite reasonable lol.
Just a sec, let me see what ebay wants for them.. THEN SELL THEM ON EBAY!
You should be knowing the value of what you're selling long before people come around and ask if they can buy something
I'm an Australian who also always use the term "I'll take it" when I am buying something. I in fact think it's a very cool, precise saying.
John , I had to smile when you bought the Mr. Bill . I just bought one yesterday as a gift for a friend .
She’s wrong they go from 50 to 200 , condition mean a lot , but that seamed super clean. Great pick up !
One observation from here in the UK is that you are all so polite with each other in my experience of similar sales here there are not many pleasantries or maybe I go to the wrong sales
Love ur videos. I used to be a reseller. My first buy was a Vintage Harley Motorcycle Jacket for $8 at a garage sale. I sold it for $150. Then I was hooked. Paid for many vacations that way.
I like your style. Very polite not pushy.
Killed it on the Legos! Great finds! The master at work! Great video 📹 👍.!
I’m glad the lady gave you a good price on the lego set in the box was afraid when she was looking it up she was going to give you a high price that you can’t make a profit on it!
''I think i owe u a bit more'' what a gentlemen
The Bell sign was cool. I live the stories behind stuff. Nice 👍🙂
I wish my local garage sales had the level of goods you have at yours.
We can open up the ice cream machine if you want....NO!

Found a backwards compatible PS3 at a yard sale today guy only wanted 750 for the console only! Lmao yard sales are ridiculous in my area. Great video Cincinnati Picker
Love the red round suitcase!
Hey John - always enjoy your vids man! Been watching for 2 years now. How much on the bell sign?! That thing is sweet! My grandpa worked for Indiana Bell as a lineman for 30 years and I have a few of his things. He’s given me a sign and a few things he was able to snag when he retired. He said once they closed the office, they were just tossing signs and old dial phones in a pit.haha He managed to grab some stuff. I’d love to add that wooden sign to my collection!
Thanks! Shoot me an email: cincinnatipicker@gmail.com

Hello Cincinnati Picker, I am a huge fan of yours, keep up the good work, also guys stay safe love you all💓
Thanks Joshua!
That Cavs sign was your best find.
Credit to you for correcting her mistake when counting! Some would've paid and ran
I have garage sales in which I’ll price certain items as collectible items. Just because eBay dealers won’t buy them there are collectors that will. I had a sale last weekend that made me over $1200 with close to half of it being market value priced items. Some like the fact they can see the items, save shipping costs etc. And by the way I’m a full time eBay seller for over 20 years. It’s just I don’t have the time to list the death piles I have and garage sales are a great way to move excess stuff.
yeah i dont understand the logic behind yard sale prices needing to be lower than ebay. Seems like a rule that only benefits the resellers.
I thought 'oh god she's on ebay and she's scrolling!!!' I've done really well with Legos (you know the plural of Lego is Lego!)
Legos is only a word in the American vocabulary its just lego whether its one set or several here in the UK.
Just a guy trying to be a know it all.
When I was a kid back in the early '80s Lego sent me a letter saying not to call them Legos for plural it's just Lego. That was a lot of pressure for you young child! Lol
Poindexter on the violin
Louis and Gilbert will be joining in
And just when you thought you've seen it all
along comes a Lambda four feet tall.
Lol, NERDS!
Yup, same as you do before buying and asking for discounts at yard sales. 😄
I see an eBay comp papers at a sale I leave
If I see it, I'm going to ask "Oh, how much selling do you do on ebay? Do you do free shipping? Why aren't you selling it on ebay? Blah, blah blah, with the questions. LOL. Just to see how serious they are.
There's no reason to get offended by it. Yeah you might laugh about it later but people are free to do whatever they went. At the end of the day when they still have all their stuff and didn't make much money maybe they will learn that approach was not very effective.
@@berngirl5624 why bother with the condescending questions?
@@hawkeyebricks9905 I’m not offended at all just choose not to bother with them

A great way to find prices on lego sets is a website called brick link. You can find prices for figures, sets, and pieces. It’s also a great way to sell lego as a lot of lego collectors use that website. Hope that helps!
Thanks for another great videos! 😀
I have to say I have been doing a bit more of this at garage sales myself. Doing pretty good. I can normally make $100 on $20 worth of stuff. So not much yet. But I haven't ventured into many things I watch more of your videos to learn a bit more on how you have figured things out so well. :) . Do you sell your cloths on eBay or Poshmart?
Then head off to eBay and sell it for $500 :)
I can’t believe you didn’t pick up the best Christmas film ever - Christmas vacation: :)
Great vid as always mate
That being said $50 isn’t a bad price
John (Picky) saw you picking threw Games.Bolo a 1969/70 Football Game. Has real Topps vintage cards inside most are played with but has Gale Sayers card in most.🧩🌎💚
Make sure you have the bow for the violin looked at. They are often worth more than the instrument.
I love the yard sale videos!
Question for you, when you only got so much time for the early bird deals how do you know which sales to go to first, dont want to waist you first hr at bad ones????
Have you listed the Legos yet or are you selling those locally. Great finds!
Did that combo unit actually work? I have bought probably 30 of that exact model in the past 3 years and maybe only 10 of them worked, always the VHS side broken.
The violin guy, was that an actual sale? Everyone on the block may as well just open their garage door and invite people in to buy 😆
Sweet buy's John.. That Lego haul was a amazing deal.. Love the Ohio (at&t) bell wood sign that's really cool.. Also that 4qt ice cream maker will be 2sweet..😂😜 Well done.. Stay safe homie..👍💕🔥⚾🇺🇸😷
16:10 I pass up tons of wool clothing because you have to wash all pre-owned clothing and the last thing I want to do is dry clean. >.< When I first started and bought tons of dry clean or handwash only clothing that I promptly returned to the store and I check every tag before I purchase now. Is the price of wool (for major high end brands) worth the hassle of dry cleaning?
White Mountain churns, good buy!
I have been to many different Yard/Garage sales and people have print outs of eBay prices on their stuff. I have to tell them that you can list anything for as much as you want but what exactly did it sell for.... Usually when I see a picture printout with eBay on it...I just turn around and leave.
Awsome finds!
Can't believe the great deals you got from the gentleman selling the ice cream machine. $5.00 for his violin, you can't beat it!
That one older guy with the hat just had a disorganized mess in his garage. It's like he just opened his garage and figured he'd have a sale.
White Mountain churn, good catch!
You could probably take that violin to a violin shop and get a lot or put on auction starting out at 100.00 at least it could go for about 500.00
5:23 Oh Nooooooo... Mr Hands, Noooooooooo
People get mad when they ask for eBay prices but the buyers are trying to rob them of a sale to sell if for more than double what they paid for...
its not robbing if the seller is too lazy to post it themselves
As soon as she said she looked it up on ebay, I was like "uh oh, here we go" lol
I knew I’d seen that bell somewhere before🙂 I used to work for AT&T and Ohio bell in the 80s
What is your logic (which seems to work) where you pay for an item or a couple of items and then pick and pay for other things? Would it help in your negotiations to make sure you have everything and then settle? Just wondering.
Great video, John!
What i like in garage sale is u can find nice stuff
Damn once I found a whole box of anime stuff bought it for $50 it had 13 figures, 8 loose funkos, and about 50 to 75 pins and acrylic stands. The funkos alone were worth about $225 cause cowboy bebop, death note, and tokyo ghoul pops are retired. Best buy ever
You found some great stuff.
Hey man, what website or app do you use to track which box has certain stuff in your inventory?
That Lego 42029 customised pick up truck is currently £145 new so $50 is a great price.
The first sale so relaxed
I like your humble attitude, no arrogance like some.
Good for her!
How to advertise you're a reseller without saying it outright... "You got any vinyl records? Video Games? etc" XD
I love how they want top notch prices but have nothing priced lmao
“How much is your milk can?”
“Forty”
“Forty bucks?”

When you list the violin, make sure to say that there's no chin rest. If it sits for a while, I like to loosen the strings and bow if you're not playing it.
I had a owner of antique/junk shop place would go on ebay if i wanted something usually ended up getting burned by paying higher what he priced his stuff at and i cant haggle him
