  • Crispy katsudon recipe baked in an air fryer. This is a great air fryer recipes for you to try. You can change it up to make chicken katsudon recipe instead. The crispy katsu is layered on top of a bed of runny egg with a special katsudon sauce / broth. We didn't have dashi so we used chicken stock instead and it still tasted very good. Katsu don written in Japanese is カツ丼

    Recipe Ingredients:
    - 3/4 Cup Rice
    - 200g Pork Chop
    - 2tsp Salt
    - 1tsp Pepper
    - Corn Starch
    - 3 Eggs (2 for Katsudon, 1 for Egg Wash)
    - 1 tsp Dashi / Chicken Stock Powder
    - 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
    - 2 tbsp Mirin
    - 1tsp Sugar
    - 70g Onion
    - Scallions for Garnish
    Air Fry at 400°F (205°C) for 12 Minutes, and then flip to Air Fry again at 400°F (205°C) for 10 Minutes.
    Instructions:
    1. Prepare the rice.
    2. Season the pork chop with salt and pepper, make sure to to sprinkle on both sides.
    3. Throw the pork chop into a plate of flour, then dip into some egg wash and then layer with flour again. Place into your air fryer, fry for around 12 minutes, flip and fry again for another 10 minutes. Once your pork chop is cooked, cut into thick slices.
    4. Broth: Mix around 1/2 a cup of hot water and chicken stock powder/dashi powder together. Add the mixture if your sauce pan on medium high heat. Add soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Add in some diced onions and bring mixture bring to a boil.
    5. Lightly whisk 2 eggs together, do not over whisk. Add into boiling broth and cover the sauce pan with a lid. Reduce to low heat and let it simmer for around 2-3 minutes. You want the egg to still be runny.
    6. Add your cooked rice into a bowl, pour your runny egg broth on top and lay the crispy katsu above. Garnish with scallions.
