    I just did this mod on my Jetson Bolt Pro with a 60T chainring. Definitely don't spin out like I used to anymore. I notice the pedal assist doesn't do very much anymore due to fewer crank rotations. Also, I noticed the electric assist isn't very effective above 13mph or so. Happy with the mod and it allows me to pedal at a better cadence at cruising speed (13-15mph for me). Thanks for the vid.

      If you change the pedal assist sensor for a 12 magnet one it solves the issue with the pedal assist cause it sends pulses more often with the bigger chain ring. Hope the information helps

    This is a good mod. You should know that doing this without the higher speed mod with either the Bluetooth module or the arduino board the controller will work against you and add more resistance because it wants to throttle you to 15mph. Would like to see what you could do with it once the speed is unlocked through the controller. That way it won't throttle you

    Just boost 36v to 54v and you get 26mph with only throttle
    48v controller have Cap. That handles 60v

    Nice work. My own stupid instinct was maybe 3D Print bigger gears for the back wheel, that would fit over the existing gears? Bigger gears on that back?! Doh!
    Looking at this... I guess Jetson built the safest ratio as I don't see how back could be smaller. And making the front bigger has some tradeoffs. But I'd not ever know that if you didn't make this video.

    Shorter cranks will allow you to spin easier without bouncing on the seat. Spinning can be easier than grinding giving you a greater range of speed pedalling only but it does take some getting used to. Jumpin stright to a big ring is probably not the answer either.

    did you do any other speed mods? You can override the governed speed of 15.5 to 19.5 with software and a raspberry-pie board. It cost about 20 dollars and you can return the raspberry pie afterwards, its literally only used to flash the new code onto the bike.
    Also your gear ration is off the original ratio (non- simplified form) was 12/38. Your current configuration is 12/55 meaning you are actually producing more power with each revolution of the pedals, but you aren't able to turn the pedals as fast as you could before. You need roughly a 16 tooth sprocket to be closer to the original ration, which should make it much easier to pedal.
    Also i just realized I called it a sprocket when on a bicycle is actually called a cog i think. (I come from a motorcycle background) Im to lazy to correct it above tbh haha

    Essentially I'm looking to spend $400 on EVERY basic upgrade to make it like a 25 mph car. You know you can unlock the speed from 15 to 19 mph with adrino board. Double the range with a second battery. Then with this $50 upgrade I'll be pedaling to higher speeds with ease. Anything over 20 mph easily, with 38+ miles of range (w/o assist), maximum storage cap with a front basket and back for less than $800. Yeah I'm loving the idea.

      Don't bother with the Arduino board. I did that "hack" and I only got 1mph faster speeds. Simply replace the controller, either keep the 36V or go to a 48V battery. Some controllers support both. With the 36V battery you will get 20 mph without payload, with payload about 17-18mph with the battery topped off and 15-16mph once it goes below 90%. With the 48V you get 26mph without payload, 22mph with payload with the battery topped off and 18-20mph once it goes below 90%. You will still get higher speeds than with the OEM controller.

  • @ManifestGamingMG
    @ManifestGamingMG Рік тому +1

    in my opinion the easiest and in my opinion the best way to upgrade your jetson is to get a 48volt battery. since stock is 36volt and its a decent upgrade, its very cheap, your looking around $100 and it boosts the performance to around 20-24mph and if you are a small person like me. and your lighter than most, then it will go even faster. and you need to do no further mods either, since the stock controller and motor can easily handle 48volts

    • @ColinLeung
      @ColinLeung  Рік тому +1

      @ColinLeung  Рік тому +1

      I believe it's all dependent on the gearing of the bike, speed of rotation, and size of the wheel. If one of them is off then no matter how hard you try you can't achieve the desired speed. I'm sure someone could pedal hard enough to reach 25mph with this bike.

    If you do the contoller mod with bluetooth it will go to 18mph with bigger chain ring. But to get it to go 18mph with throttle only you need a bigger battery.
    But batteries are expensive. Do not ask for links because youtube shuts down commets with link you need to do your own homework sorry. Saw a guy add a external 36v 30ah battery. Got 18mph
    .With only thrittle and controller mod. Controller mod can be done with bluetooth or arduino board.
    Also since the larger front sprocket is spinning slower. If you want pedal assit to come on fast change out the sensor from stock 6 magnets to 12 magnet sensor.
    The bluetooth module can be bought from factory in china.
    I got one and a 48v controller.
    Will try it out and see if I can get 28 mph speed which 48v version of bike does out of the box. Again do your own searching.

      If you watch the videos for those bikes it shows the specs and they saying it goes 28mph (40kmp). They also have a video of the factory assembling the bikes in china. I have contacted the factory in china and have ordered a Bluetooth module and a 48v controller.
      It plugs directly into the Jetson. No cutting of wires or splicing connectors. So headlights and cruise control still all work. Just to let you know.

      @@alexisdejesus5771 Did you keep the original motor hub or did you replace it?

      @@ansia8785 I kept the stock 350 watt motor. But monitor the temp because running more amps to the motor. With this 48v controller and bluetooth module can now use their app to lock the bike. Also the headlights and cruise control still work. They also gave me a one year warranty. Cannot get that on ebay controllers.

      @@jby5736 I also did the 48v upgrade. Everything on my JBP has been replaced, except for the motor. My worry is that it's really loud and I am unsure if it's the currents working around the magnets or the gears working extra hard. Does your motor overheat?
