  • The third flood-from-above in one year in the same Marina City apartment, and the (10th? 20th? umpteenth) fire, flood, or other emergency issue in seven years here. It's not a dump...but it's not not, either. View the original blog post here www.chicagocarless.com/2012/02....

It sounds to me like these two buildings need to be cleared out, totally gutted and rebuilt to today’s standards, including measures to prevent these types of issues from happening in the first place. Since these buildings are historic landmarks, the only way to make them habitual is a total interior renovation. As for any units that are individually owned (condos), those will need to be brought up to today’s standards and codes. A total renovation will get rid of the undesirable tenants since the rents will go up.

I owned a condo before, not at marina but its a pain in the ass, its like your stuck there all on your own, better off to have an apartment, u can just move or call a landlord when something bad happens

Thank you sooooo much for this vid. Me and my hubby are saving up for a condo and my sights were set on marina, seeing as how fab the neighborhood is. But it sounds more like a broke down ghetto apartment in in the hood and I just can't do it. Thanks for the info. 😊😊😊
