Thanks for sharing your thoughts regarding your 2024 POTA experience. I hope you won't give up on CW, Chris. I am sorry to hear it is frustrating. With the right training/methodology, it doesn't have to be. I appreciate you hunting me during my CW activations. As for my 2025 goals, look for my QRPer article on December 29th! (no spoilers here.) By the way, I need to talk with you as to how to activate the barrier islands without easy access. I'd love to do that in the future.
Well i have been running cw off an on for 30 years. I had to get the 20wpm when i got my extra so its not like I am new at it. I think I was pretty tired. The whole video kind of feels like I am rambling and seems like I am tired. However, thats the way I recorded it so thats the way it is. Anyways. Hope to be able to do more cw next year and see how it goes. I think I need to start writing everything down to start with. As for the islands, sure we can do that by email if you want. I have a couple of contacts you may like for that
@ Thanks, Chris. For what it is worth, I saw the video as well organized by topic. I'll email you for those contacts. Here's to the adventures of 2025. 😁
Nice video. Guess one of my goals is to get on CW. The fear is people calling me back and just getting a brain fart and not being able to copy. I listen to some videos and am surprised how some letters are just plain as day to me. So probably need to just do it. I really want to get more parks in to, but honestly like you said it almost takes an overnight trip to get it done. Just not in the cards or pocket book right now. Maybe I need to hunt them first. Robert, I encourage you to go for POTA with CW. Yes, your first few activations may be nerve-wracking (mine were) but this is how you learn. The question mark is your friend. Most ops are patient if I ask with it. Besides, you'll use it anyway because of distractions or difficult band conditions (QSB, etc). It never fails that someone sends their call when I am flipping my notebook to a new page or need to adjust something with my equipment! It is all part of the game. Good luck!
Your still better than me in CW. Looking forward to next year. QRO or QRT.
Ha. I've have 30 years on cw ahead of you lol
