loool good one. But yeah this is probably the one game he actually walks at you and even kicks you. I instead expected a full demon transformation like usual
@@heyjeySigmayes exactly, this is additionally uncomfortable and a bit scary because out of nowhere Dracula starts to walk and in the Castlevania mythology he never walked, it's something a bit similar to Uncanny Valley
That, but the DS emulators on PC are poorly optimized. I get super smooth emulation on my budget android phone using the DraStic emulator, but Desmume on PC challenges my 6-core CPU a bit.
Congratulations on another great run through a Castlevania game. It was quite entertaining and your creative use of attacks, as well as your confident maneuvers made it worth watching. While this game didn't give you as much room to experiment as Portrait of Ruin did, you still came up with some good stuff, like the shield glyph union for getting past a few obnoxious areas or Vol Umbra for defeating Eligor. Nice job on not using the Death ring, Arma Custos or Dominus Agony ever too(except for the one room filled with bugbears, but eh). Any future plans? Other Castlevania games you would like to visit, or maybe you'll try something other than action platformers?
Thanks, this game was a doozy and something that will go among my favorite projects list that's for sure. To be honest the I only used Death Ring because I got lazy to change everything to Vol Luminatio + Umbra and INT equipments to use that Union and clear the room. As I mentioned before, I'm planning on doing the classic-vanias as well. Dracula X, Bloodlines and 1 (from NES) are in the "will-do-soon-or-later" list.
***** Great to hear. I hope you get to play some of my favorites like System Shock 2 and Deus Ex too, though they're more FPS RPG hybrids and you probably don't have experience in that genre.
my strategy was: - equip death ring and nitesco him until second phase - keep using the shoulder glyph of Dominus to increase nitesco power and spam healing items until he dies. Of course it wasn't a no damage run though lol.
Easiest way to kill this games dracula is by using double lights orbs. Yeah they use an atrocious amount of mana but they do like 188 per since its holy damage.
using melee weapons such as the one you were using are nice however risk you getting barraged with many attacks. the dark beam glyph combine with the INT boost glyph helps balance range and damage
shanoa : wait you can walk nobody tall me that you can walk. dracula: oh there is a reason why now i can do this and is ... Shanoa: ... Dracula : SOUL STEAL Shanoa: AHHHHH but reallly what a great battle
No, but she did attempt sacrificing herself to seal him away which is more than most Belmonts did. She was chosen to resurrect Dracula by sacrifice and instead used her powers to stop him. She's not my favorite protagonist in the series by a long shot but she's still really badass and pretty op.
Weak? She has mini-nukes and AoEs for days, she is way more powerful than any Belmont without their omega-broken-insta-win-plot-device called Vampire Killer.
This was uploaded 4 years ago but you forgot to mention how to hold your shield up. When I activate my shield it is in from of my character. How I will make it be above my head ? I tried button combinations nothing seems to work.
Thanks, I was stuck on that part too! I love it in games when weaker weapons/items are effective against bosses, instead of becoming obsolete once you get the upgraded versions
The Death and Dracula combo can be tricky sometimes, usually if you let them corner you while Dracula pulls off his meteor ball attack, but True Dracula himself is very easy. As Minoru said though, the problem is that he has a lot of health, and he also tends to drag the battle out with his wing crush attack towards the end. I've found that statistically, the most efficient way to down both bosses is to fully charge up Spirit of Light when Death is just floating into position after a downward swing/True Dracula moves towards you and switch to Jonathan as soon as the spell hits, and then wail away with the Stellar Sword and mix in a few Cross throws too, preferably at Master. If Charlotte has the Tome of Arms X, strategically calling her out to hit True Dracula when he's near the ground helps a lot too, especially if you combine it with your own attacks at the same time. Just remember to call her off again after she gets two slashes off.
Are the strategies you used in getting no damage (for the entire game, not just this video) consistent or did you have to rely on luck with getting good enemy patterns? If so, how much? I know bosses on hard mode are not as big problem as several individual enemies once you learn to read them.
Sorry for the *_really_* late response (I still hate the way messages notifications are handled). But, yes, the methods and strategies I put in the videos are mostly focused on consistency, from enemies to bosses. If there's a heavy random element, something that can screw you with no chance of reaction, thrown in the area or the boss I usually write a thing or two about it in the description. I remember the biggest issue in this game being enemies like Flying Skeletons, Bitterflies, Medusa Heads which seems to have no noticeable patterns; you have to be on your toes at all times for them, especially when you have to use Magnes with those things in the same room. Beyond that, I usually deal with dangerous, and random, enemies (Invisible Men, Grave Diggers, Cave Trolls) with Cubus or Torpor or avoid them altogether if possible.
Has been a nice journey. I remember doing this myself a couple of years ago (I didn't do it "no damage" though). I used to play all Castlevania games in the most challenging way possible (beat PoR with ONLY Jonathan with the first whip equipped on hard for example). Great content Leonardo!
It was a personal choice. Throughout this run I used it only once because I was too damn lazy to swap all equipment from Shanoa and clear a room full of Bugbears.
No (not counting Dracula's final attack), but every attack would deal massive damage (easily over half of my current health), Dracula can kill me with two hits and some of his moves hits more than once in quick succession.
Therapist : Walking Dracula isn't real, he can't hurt you
Walking Dracula : 2:37

I remember that my strategy here was largely just spam globus because that slowed the game down and made his attack easier to dodge.
everybody gangsta till dracula start walkin
Me when i was a kid be like:
Wait...🤨
😳?!
Is it bad that this is the first time I have seen Dracula walk in a game-
That's because this is the only game where you see him walk.
Spined1234
Lords of Shadow 2 if that even counts
and i can see why he doesn't now. Because they couldn't actually bother to animate him walking forward
@Maldron the Assassin but don't have dracula in this games ;-;
@@TheUsuariocomum You're not actually familiar with the plot in that pair, are you?
This is the best Dracula dub for me.. DESTRUCTION RAY!!!!!!!!
i see Dracula has been hanging out with Rugal, he even learned his genocide cutter!!!
I'm starting to think Dracula's demon form is a handicap since WALKING DRACULA is one of the hardest bosses I've ever fought in this series.
I think it’s supposed to show how Strong Dracula is when you’re not a Belmont
The lord of Darkness walking at 60 fps is the most terrifying thing ever

Oh my god, I forgot they brought back the Warg death noises from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
**howls**
I love the sounds they make
Holy cow... just look at the frame rate and quality of this video...
a good emulator and a good PC at the same time...
DS emulation is very processor intensive. Emulation is all about knowing what hardware you need instead of what you think you need.
That, but the DS emulators on PC are poorly optimized. I get super smooth emulation on my budget android phone using the DraStic emulator, but Desmume on PC challenges my 6-core CPU a bit.
@Riddler Subliminals I hope you don't mean frame skip
@Riddler Subliminals the fuck yall talking about it looks just like on a DS
Word. I've been playing this on no$gba and sometimes the frame rate is just painful
Everybody gangsta until Dracula turns into rugal from kof hahaha
Expertly done. Hats off to you.

You can jump behind him without him always slashing with his cape and teleport soon.

Thank you so much for sharing your videos! Helped me a lot!! I envy your skill!!
"DARK INFERNO HAHAHAHAHA"
"Walking Dracula" sounds like a swear phrase like "Jumping Christ" or something like that.
Man, I wouldn't have the courage to do the bat wave thing without both Scutum and Melio Scutum.
The second phase should've have a separate music instead of the same one for the first phase (and a mini cutscene where dracula learns how to walk)
Kicking Dracula kind of looks like Rugal.
How to you swing your weapons this fast?
Important question! How do you use the shield (Scutum) upward like using it as an umbrella!?
Use the regular version, the one without prefix; named just Scutum.
Vol and Melio Scutum glyphs will be in front of Shanoa.
@@MinoruLeo Oooohh lol thank you! Dracula summoning his panthers while raining violet beams is such a pain! Hopefully I can beat him this time. 😅
So am I to assume that shanoa is weak since she needs the dominus to defeat dracula?
No, but she did attempt sacrificing herself to seal him away which is more than most Belmonts did. She was chosen to resurrect Dracula by sacrifice and instead used her powers to stop him. She's not my favorite protagonist in the series by a long shot but she's still really badass and pretty op.
Well sorry no every family inherits a miraculous whip specialized on killing dracula himself

What are you playing it on? Looks fucking amazing. I played it original cartridge on 3ds.
Me an lv99 with nitesco elements at max that played through the game 10 times with nitesco for some reason : just use nitesco lmao
TIL you could drop kick bounce on the fireballs: my strategy was just jump over dracula and hope he wouldn't punish me or just whip them
You are amazing.

You have to use the regular Scutum glyph as shown in the status screen during the boss. Vol and Melio versions will appear in front of Shanoa.
Thanks, I mas misguided since at the beginning it is shown to use Melio Scutum, but right I oversaw the up screen in the fight.
Thanks, I was stuck on that part too!
I love it in games when weaker weapons/items are effective against bosses, instead of becoming obsolete once you get the upgraded versions
what buttons push to have the shield up in head?
That's just how Scutum is (Yes, for some reason, Vol and Melio have them in front while the base is a headshield)
Hey, sorry about before. Really.
It's all cool now, don't worry. You do get major points from me for understanding.
Minoru Leonardo thank you.
Nitesco?????
Will you play Castlevania Symphony of The Night (Saturn Version)?
Minoru Leonardo Yes, people love it. I was just asking, my favorite Castlevania is "Curse of Darkness", love everything in this one.
Do you consider this game's Dracula harder to do a no damage run on or Portrait of Ruin's?
Nah. Portrait of Ruin Dracula is more annoying, just because how long the fight is even STR Boosting Jonathan with a Holy Weapon.
The Death and Dracula combo can be tricky sometimes, usually if you let them corner you while Dracula pulls off his meteor ball attack, but True Dracula himself is very easy.
