***** Well actually, in an interview she said: "I don’t have a sexuality. I don’t feel like I’m female or male. I don’t belong to the gay or straight society, if there is such a thing. I feel like I’m capable of falling in love with other people. I’m not saying I’m bisexual, I’m just sexual!" I interpreted that as she's pansexual, but take it as you will. It's none of our business, really. :)

For those like me who have been driven insane trying to figure this out:
    "How do you feel
    In the night
    Now the feeling's
    Left behind
    As you know there
    Was a time
    When your silence
    Left me blind
    Now you're callin'
    From the aisle
    I can see
    It's denial
    A denial
    Left to slide
    Now there's nothing
    Left to hide"

Now 30 I have finally become strong enough to process all the trauma and emotion I went through when i was 18-21. This album, I had not listened to since because it allowed me to survive through those times. Now I have faced it all and listend to this album 10 years later and understand all that my younger self couldnt speak on, only endure. As with all your albums, thank you Elly for helping me through those times and finding the perfect words where its always hard to in the moment. Your music speaks volumes to me and I love that you shared your own emotions and creativity through your music. Happy to see you grow more and more into your own as an artist and person.

    • @fckoff321
      @fckoff321 9 років тому +7

Her look is more simple here, but her face is by no means bare. There is at the very least foundation, concealer, brow enhancer, and lip color going on. That said, she looks gorgeous either way.

    • @alyssasmile
      @alyssasmile 9 років тому +7

K McGowen That's how it always is, right? People demand that girls don't wear makeup, that they look better without it, but they don't realise that when they see 'no makeup' they're actually just lacking the heavy eye paint and lipstick. And then when girls actually go w/o makeup they're told they look tired or sick.

    • @fckoff321
      @fckoff321 9 років тому +2

Alyssa Ainscow Preach, sister. I get it on a regular basis (either the "You look so much better without makeup!" when I'm just wearing a natural look, or the "Are you okay? You look sick.." when my face is legitimately bare) and always try to explain the difference, because if people aren't really used to wearing makeup themselves then they usually have a harder time recognizing when it's being used on someone else.

Elly was never gone. She was going through a trance of vocal issues and stage fright. Now she is here and immediately launched "Trouble in Paradise". She is strong and here to stay.
She is not a 1 hit wonder, she said, "I'm not ready for that kind of publicity". Yes, Bulletproof was her biggest hit here, but that was never the true La Roux. Here is the real La Roux. Please respect, if not, then move on to your Sam Smith bullshit already.

    Let me down gently
    That's what I think I need
But when you let me down gently
It still feels it hard, hard
    Turn me into someone good
    That’s what I really need
Tell me that I’m someone good
So we’re not so far apart, apart
I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young, foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You're not my life but I want you in it
    Set me up I’m slowly
That’s what you do to me
Oh you set me up slowly
Now I can’t come down, down
    Let you down gently
That's what I think you need
But when I let you down you're empty
And you try to hide your frowns, frowns
I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young, foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You're not my life but I want you in it
And I hope it's sinking in
    Left behind your perfect skin
    There’s a part of you that’s free
And I know that there’s a place for me
    Let me down gently
    That's what I think I need
But when you let me down gently
    It still feels hard, hard
    Turn me into someone good
    That’s what I really need
Tell me that I’m someone good
So we’re not so far apart, apart

Too bad LaRoux are a little weak but they came back with one more new material at the beginning of this year! This and "Kiss and not tell" were among my favorites of 2014 ... but it was incredible that at that time I did not know about the existence of "Uptight Downtown". Good thing that now the VEVO channels were merged with the personal accounts of each singer and so I will not miss any more releases, especially those artists who went to WMG xD

La Roux reminds me of Tilda Swinton. She is almost sexless and genderless. That isn't to say she isn't attractive. But she is more than that. Her lyrics do not centre around how she looks, it's all about the inner turmoils of life. that is the truth she preaches.
It's almost like she is another type of human being all together. One that transcends gender. I love it.
