I can see this song playing for the main male character while he is driving to his girl's house to try and get her back; or a drug scene; the main character is experiencing heart attack like feels after doin a bunch of blow after getting broken up by his girl. That's how I see it if I were to put this in a movie.
the song is an underrated masterpiece, completely overlooked and didn't get enough radio play, that's a fact. but Elly in this video? incredibly sexy. she's just wearing a black outfit and barely any make-up and is the most attractive woman I'd seen. it's her moves and just the way she carries herself is so fine. I thought this 6 years ago when I first saw this video and now 6 years after I see that my feelings stayed the same, yup.
God, you were shallow 8 years ago and you're even more shallow now. so sad that the comments about the genius Elly Jackson are even worse than comments about Maddie Ziegler.

When this song started, I was like, "Okay... Not bad... Kind of slow..." Didn't really pay much attention... until 2:40. Then I was like, "Hell YES. La Roux is back."
Superb track, and possibly the best record she has ever released... It's such a gorgeous yet devastating record. Her music in general is fantastic, but this is just special. Thanks Elly for this slice of Pop brilliance.

"cocaine made out of skittles and gold"? What the hell does that mean? When's the last time you did cocaine. (Not the first time I've seen completely witless references to hard drugs. Is this a thing? Pretending intimate, long experience with cocaine, morphine, heroin?)
Her look is more simple here, but her face is by no means bare. There is at the very least foundation, concealer, brow enhancer, and lip color going on. That said, she looks gorgeous either way.
K McGowen That's how it always is, right? People demand that girls don't wear makeup, that they look better without it, but they don't realise that when they see 'no makeup' they're actually just lacking the heavy eye paint and lipstick. And then when girls actually go w/o makeup they're told they look tired or sick.
Alyssa Ainscow Preach, sister. I get it on a regular basis (either the "You look so much better without makeup!" when I'm just wearing a natural look, or the "Are you okay? Only 3 million views??? I mean if there is a perfect pop song somewhere in the universe this one here is incredibly close to it but still have only 3 million views?
I have a new favourite La Roux song now....this knocks Bulletproof into a cocked hat! To be fair I haven't heard much of her stuff, but following hearing her sing on a couple of New Order songs on their new album today, I thought I'd check her stuff out and heard this for the first time.
Feels like this song is healing me from how one sided my relationship with my mom is. I tried everything to be close with her, only to be pushed to the side. “Let me down gentlyyyyy”
This song and video i a pure masterpiece, I am now having very hard time in my life, La Roux's music is what makes me feel alive, thank you Elly for being such a great artist!
Five years ago I thought La Roux was ridiculous. I heard this, and I was blown away. She's combined style with substance and it has worked so well. It's got that warm, rich neo-eighties feel; it's sending chills down my spine. Five years ago I was twelve. I'm listening to this now, and my god - I love La Roux
Elly was never gone. She was going through a trance of vocal issues and stage fright. Now she is here and immediately launched "Trouble in Paradise". She is strong and here to stay. She is not a 1 hit wonder, she said, "I'm not ready for that kind of publicity". Yes, Bulletproof was her biggest hit here, but that was never the true La Roux. Here is the real La Roux. Please respect, if not, then move on to your Sam Smith bullshit already.
Its nice that she makes her music in the way she wants it.....but i would be happy to listen some...Bulletproof, In for the kill, Im not your toy kinda stuff. I love Trouble in Paradise, dont get me wrong. But having both sides would be even better, dont you agree?
Let me down gently That's what I think I need But when you let me down gently It still feels it hard, hard Turn me into someone good That’s what I really need Tell me that I’m someone good So we’re not so far apart, apart I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young, foolish and green Let me in for a minute You're not my life but I want you in it Set me up I’m slowly That’s what you do to me Oh you set me up slowly Now I can’t come down, down Let you down gently That's what I think you need But when I let you down you're empty And you try to hide your frowns, frowns I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young, foolish and green Let me in for a minute You're not my life but I want you in it And I hope it's sinking in Left behind your perfect skin There’s a part of you that’s free And I know that there’s a place for me Let me down gently That's what I think I need But when you let me down gently It still feels hard, hard Turn me into someone good That’s what I really need Tell me that I’m someone good So we’re not so far apart, apart I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young and foolish and green Let me in for a minute You're not my life but I want you in it And I hope it's sinking in Left behind your perfect skin There’s a part of you that’s free And I know that there’s a place for me
haha what did you smoke for the flour+fat ?! it just means ginger and usually we say "la rousse", "roux" is the masculine word so it's just a play on words for the androgyn part of the character
I remember when this came out. I could not believe it. Elly had already 5 years without recording a new album. Too bad LaRoux are a little weak but they came back with one more new material at the beginning of this year! This and "Kiss and not tell" were among my favorites of 2014 ... but it was incredible that at that time I did not know about the existence of "Uptight Downtown". Good thing that now the VEVO channels were merged with the personal accounts of each singer and so I will not miss any more releases, especially those artists who went to WMG xD
La Roux reminds me of Tilda Swinton. She is almost sexless and genderless. That isn't to say she isn't attractive. But she is more than that. Her lyrics do not centre around how she looks, it's all about the inner turmoils of life. that is the truth she preaches. It's almost like she is another type of human being all together. One that transcends gender. I love it.
+DamienHurts genderless?!? she dont look like your atypical grey alein to me lol maby a bit androgonis but certainly not genderless shhesh how would she go to the bathroom.lol then again how do greys go to the bathroom on that topic? its like a tootsie pop how many licks does it take to get to the center the world may never know....anyways shes beautyfull any way u have it but i get where yoursaying her looks tracend i just had to write something down cant help it been 2 quiet for years
Sweetie can you read? I said almost. The key word is almost. Obviously she isn't straight up genderless... God why am I even explaining this to you: a person who so clearly doesn't understand the power of the written word. Zoldark1
as for the writen word u sir are correct i only take my msgs telapathcly perferably with immagery attached but ill be sure to keep it txt based with u =)
Elly has been working on her third record. I expected her to release in 2017 but she didn’t. She promised her fans she wouldn’t go on another hiatus. Things happen I guess. Hopefully she’ll release in 2018. La Roux usually releases material in the Spring/early Summer. Hopefully we get an update soon.
I love Elly and her music ! her dance moves are everything ! and she says she doesn't know how to dance and where they come from, but when Elly dances is like she were possessed by an 80s spirit.

Shocking that this wasnt a #1 Billboard hit in the States. Really hard to believe. A really great song.
This song and video i a pure masterpiece, I am now having very hard time in my life, La Roux's music is what makes me feel alive, thank you Elly for being such a great artist!
This should have been a bigger hit.
I can’t describe how this song makes me feel it’s such an overwhelming song
I love Elly’s smile but I love when she dances around! Absolutely one of the most beautiful women in music. She’s so real too! 🥰💕
If there was ever a song that was criminally underated it is this one
I like this woman :).Beautiful
Moebius Dune why don't you dress like her
I really like to have her haircut!
This song is so dope,,she reminds me of my old roommate shadoe,,I'm a sucker for pale skin and good vocals. Just push play and repeat.
Bahaha, says the person who got on here to comment just that. You feel special. It's a song, she hot, get over it buddy.
You need a therapists buddy.
+Ricky Anzley NO U
Elly where have you been all these years? We miss you dearly. Please don’t give up on your talent(s)!
The current queen of electro pop
Let me down gently
That's what I think I need
But when you let me down gently
It still feels it hard, hard
Turn me into someone good
That’s what I really need
Tell me that I’m someone good
So we’re not so far apart, apart
I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young, foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You're not my life but I want you in it
Set me up I’m slowly
That’s what you do to me
Oh you set me up slowly
Now I can’t come down, down
Let you down gently
That's what I think you need
But when I let you down you're empty
And you try to hide your frowns, frowns
I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young, foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You're not my life but I want you in it
And I hope it's sinking in
Left behind your perfect skin
There’s a part of you that’s free
And I know that there’s a place for me
Let me down gently
That's what I think I need
But when you let me down gently
It still feels hard, hard
Turn me into someone good
That’s what I really need
Tell me that I’m someone good
So we’re not so far apart, apart
I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young and foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You're not my life but I want you in it
And I hope it's sinking in
Left behind your perfect skin
There’s a part of you that’s free
And I know that there’s a place for me
Love it ❤
La Roux, you are one of my TOP queens ever! I love you.
It was about fucking time!!!!!!
La Roux ; in French it;s flour + fat, used in soups and sauces as a thickener.
It actually means Red Haired One, It actually is intentional to not make sense cause of the feminine and masculine words in the phrase
Matt Zarate
Is that why red heads scare me ?
haha what did you smoke for the flour+fat ?!
it just means ginger
and usually we say "la rousse", "roux" is the masculine word so it's just a play on words for the androgyn part of the character
Audrey Liberge
Never thought about it....
chefgiovanni Your thinking of Roux, As in Gumbo :)
I feel like there's a vulnerability to this song that really speaks to inspiration from personal experience.
Well there's no doubt, I'm gay.
lol me too
+1
wow
bas test
me too, like SO GAY, FOREVER GAY
This song represents a lot for me. Thanks La Roux.
Love the video clip, you are amazing.
Yes I love how she implies guns, crack and sex in such a good manner.
I love it.
Well said.
Zoldark1
meh i knew what u were saying just givein a hard time like a troll under a bridge thatll be 2 copper to pass unharmed lol but have a good day =)
as for the writen word u sir are correct i only take my msgs telapathcly perferably with immagery attached but ill be sure to keep it txt based with u =)
One of the best songs ever recorded!
Possibly my favorite La Roux song. Like it more and more.
She is sooooo amazing. I love her music and I hope that she`ll keep making more music even if not a lot of people have heard her
Από τα καλύτερα που έχω ακούσει τώρα τελευταία! Μαγικό κομμάτι!
I LOVE YOU ELEANOR KATE JACKSON. i am so so so happy i'm seeing you again, it's been a few years
i love this woman, she's my platonic love!
:)
=)
:) ....
who are you? I can not see your profile ... but I think I know
Such an incredible 80's throwback ballad; simply perfect!
It's been 3 tests since you said
SUPREME !! can't hold my breath
you mean you can hold your breath because what you said ... you just contradicted yourself
Idiot xx
UpsideDownTown Twit Ten people felt the emotion, someone tried to use his head but could not understand.
UpsideDownTown Twit Your name conveniently describes you. I like that.
Lana Del Rey and La Roux are back the same year, damn i'll die i love them
Lana has been releasing new official music every year since 2011....
she's back with ultraviolence idiot
one of the best songs EVER!
I love Elly and her music ! her dance moves are everything ! and she says she doesn't know how to dance and where they come from, but when Elly dances is like she were possessed by an 80s spirit.
+Pamela Palma sounds like my kind of dancing :)
Athanasios M Pretty cool !
