‘Need to rethink political Hindutva’: Prof Dr Sumeet Mhaskar on reservations, caste, Hindutva

Dr Sumeet Mhaskar, a professor at OP Jindal Global University, is a labour sociologist and public policy scholar. He has been vocal about Maratha reservations, class and caste movements.
In this episode of What’s Your Ism, Dr Mhaskar spoke to The News Minute’s Sudipto Mondal about caste, reservations, Ambedkarism and political and socio-cultural Hindutva.
The professor said: “The government is not hiring people on a permanent basis but on contractual basis, which means the wages are extremely low and the conditions are exploitative. It is a class question.”

You are just like Godi Media but in opposition direction.
Every media channel has its own agenda. But you are hypocrites, you call others biased but still behave biased.
The congress party has talked about giving reservation to minorities at least since the manmohan sarkar. It has been one of their promises for a long time.
And news laundary has covered this cast politics of karnatak before, look for videos around 11 months old or so.
Just because their reaction to the minorities reservation isn't the one you expected doesn't prove that they are biased.
Their entire brand is made on being unbiased, they hold meeting with their subscribers to answer such queries.
And in now way are they like Godi Media. I mean seriously, godi media ignored critical issues like the ladakh protest, forgot about Manipur, painted farmers as khalistani, spread communalism throughout the nation. And you're comparing that with news laundary not objecting to minorities reservation in Karnataka. Seriously?!

So they are okay with Muslim reservations for every muslim in india? I didn’t know that. Well, fine then.
To me these journalists are ideologically against my opinion, reservations should never be based on outright religion.
Over the years, we should have started to decrease the reservations bit by bit but for vote bank politics, everyone is supporting some or other group for reservations. And based on religion is barred in our constitution. But who gives fuck! They will find a way to put whole religion in OBC, so technically its not a religion based reservation but its just another backward class.
Almost every state has crossed 50% limit with finding some loopholes. Well, constitution is not perfect then.
Even Babasaheb Ambedkar just gave reservations to SCs and STs where it’s actually required. Now OBC, Muslims is just bullshit for their votebanks.
For OBCs and Muslims, economic background based educational support should have been given, but who cares, vote bank!
And left media will see these reservations as socialist policy to help society, but its never going to help the society as whole.
There will be always the divide between society if we don’t see OBC, Muslims, Marathas as general people who has some population which is economically backward and educational financial support (free or subsidized education) should be given to them.
Babasaheb Ambedkar must have been seeing these things from above and must be regretting that constitution should have been made according to this.

Bro in Gujrat, it’s not like karnataka.
In Karnataka, each and every muslim is under 27%
In Gujarat, only some Muslim communities(listed below) and Christian communities(Christian converts from Schedule Caste) are notified as OBCs. Thus 4.5% reservation will go to them only. In Gujarat, no section of Parsi, Jain, Buddhist or Sikh community has been notified as OBC. Thus they are simply out of the 4.5% sub quota opportunity.
It is therefore clear that benefit of 4.5% minority quota will go to some Muslim communities and section of Christian converts. In other words, Kasai(butchers) will get benefit of 4.5% quota while Jains or Buddhists will not.
