I like listening to music like this and imagining the lives of my ancestors. What was it like for them, traveling for months far from their home in Spain to begin a new life in what is now Mexico. There at the brink of history, the awe and wonder. Did they live a good life? Marry for love? Did they ever think of the life beyond theirs? I wonder if they were good people, honest and hardworking. Would I be proud of them, and would they be proud of me? Do I wear their face, or perhaps will my child one they theirs? I can imagine myself as a young woman, living back then in the 16th century. Sent to the market plaza to buy produce, skipping down the hardened dirt trail. I’d hear the dulcet voice of a woman and her husband strumming a guitar right behind her, perhaps in a cantina, perhaps on a street corner. I’d get caught up in their charm and beauty, completely forgetting my reasoning for going into town, staying out late until the couple turned in for the night, and I’d arrive home empty handed and chastised but with stars in my eyes and clouds in my head, replaying the magical music until I fell asleep, excited at the prospect of once again returning to town to hear the music I can’t ever seem to forget.
España actual como las 20 naciónes formaban parte de 1 solo imperio.. así que la España actual es la 21 nación de esa España grande, libre, católica y imperial.. ya no se peleen hispanos que todos somos los mismos… sin la hispanidad no hay mexico, sin mexico no hay imperio.
