    This is very well taught. I am just learing to tat and I especially appreciate the mention of the extra half stitch and post to keep it from flipping back.

    I teach tatting and I tell all my students to watch your videos when they’re at home. You do an excellent job and your videos are good quality. Thank you.
    Maybe if I ever go down under I can ring you up.

    Thank you for sharing this.....I used to tat when I was younger with my mother and have recently picked it up at 70 years old and could not seem to get it right. This has been so helpful!

    Hi Noo Bear, very well explained and shown. The way you close the ring gives a better result than the "usual" way. It looks much neater. Thank you so much for this great tip and your great tutorials. I have already watched many of your videos over the last 2 years. You are a great teacher. Greetings from Luxembourg 😊.

    thank you for the great videos! I started needle tatting about a week ago. now im trying shuttle tatting, mainly because there are more videos out there for shuttle tatting. I also think shuttle tatting could be easier than needle tatting for finer threads.

    So, I have tried shuttle tatting and I am having a few problems. Most of them, I think will just get better with practice, but 2 of them I would like to ask you about.
    1. I am having a really, really hard time landing that first part of the first stitch where I want it.
    2. I am having problems with my stitches twisting.
    Any advice?

    • @NooBearAus
      @NooBearAus  3 роки тому +3

      Hi Michelle, I was sure I had mentioned something about controlling your stitch in one of my tat a long videos..... do you think I can find it?! so since that's not going to help you, the next best thing I can offer for now ( I promise to make a video on it) is to watch the first round of Clovers Galore - start at about 9.25. The link is below.
      I don't talk about it in this video, because this video isn't on thread control, but if you watch how I wrap my hand; I wrap my working thread ABOVE my core thread. This means that when I pull the stitch down, I have complete control over where that stitch is going to sit.
      If I wrap my hand with the core thread above the working thread, then I am fighting to get the stitch to go where I want, because I am pulling it up.
      I'm not really sure what you mean by stitches twisting. Is your thread twisting? Your chains? If your thread is twisting, dangle your shuttle and let it unravel every now and then.
      If your stitches are twisting, you could be making 'too many' before snugging your chain. So only make 5 to 7 stitches before you snug them. Hold those in the pinch while you make the next lot of 5 to 7 and then snug those ones. This will really help your tension and give you a lovely curve.
      I hope I have answered your questions. :) Please let me know how you get on.

    I can't get the loop to close using the shuttle thread end. Can you help please?

    • @NooBearAus
      @NooBearAus  2 роки тому

      It sounds like you have an unflipped stitch somewhere - this will make a knot meaning your thread can't slide. Check that all your stitches have flipped. Please let me know how you go.😊

    • @tsykes6068
      @tsykes6068 2 роки тому

      @@NooBearAus Thank you. I finally worked it out and it slides. However it's much harder to do when using the same colour (yellow section) as opposed to using two different colours.

    • @NooBearAus
      @NooBearAus  2 роки тому

      @@tsykes6068 It is much harder to see when working with the one colour. Unfortunately rings are made with the one thread, which is why I teach chains first. It's much easier to see 'the flip'. It's probably too late now, as you've worked it out, but this video shows you how to work your stitches. ua-cam.com/video/J_W66kDU1Nk/v-deo.html
