Sadly most of these products labelled henna are just PPD which many people are allergic too. Real henna is just ground up henna lawsonia, a plant that nobody is allergic to. It’s practically hypoallergenic.
But PPD (paraphenylenediamine)is highly allergic. So sorry you had a reaction Tina! I learned all this in cosmetology school, but didn’t really know how had it was until I became allergic! Whole scalp flared up into a swollen weepy mess. Hope the swelling & irritation went down quickly for you. You did the right thing starting with an antihistamine, that’s all you can do at home.

Just for Men beard dye is what I use. Takes 5 minutes. Do it on the weekend so if you coloured outside the lines the staining will fade before Monday.

So sorry you went through that. I heard about Just for Men beard & mustache on a beauty podcast. Because it’s made to be applied to the face it’s pretty gentle. I have been using it since this summer without any problems, and it works great for me. I have dark brown hair and brows, but I took their recommendation and went one shade lighter to medium brown, was glad I did. Best part is it only cost about $10 and you can get many applications from one kit because you just need a little each time!

@@clareseibert1811 My hair, including my eyebrows, grows fast. I usually have to pluck a few strays every day, and trim at least once a week. So, I usually have to color my brows about every 3 weeks.
Hey Tina, I’m so sorry that you experienced this irritation. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s real Henna, I use real Henna and that’s not what it looks like.
I've had my brows tinted at Ulta's Benefits Brow service before and didn't have any problems. I'm not sure what products were used. The Tech left, and so did I. She was awesome, and I tried a few things based on her recommendations. Like you, I have naturally full brows, so waxing is all I need for maintenance. Filling in brows is just for extra glam, not necessarily needed.

😱 OMG imagine if you had used it on your lashes ! I have sparse and light brows compared to my natural hair color, which is weird... I've tried once to make my brows dyed by a professional and the result was great, but I would like to do it by myself. It would be nice to follow your tinted brows journey. I was scared for you at the beginning of the video. Real BAQ (body art quantity) henna is pure henna and is naturally red. Any other henna “color” means additives have been added to it. I’m glad the reaction didn’t get worse than it did. ❤️

My cousin had a very bad allergic reaction to the henna tattoo on her hand it bubbled up so bad. Thank God she didn’t lose her hand. It was horrible
Hi Tina, I've had my brows microblade and ombre but that was a few years back. So now I use Just 4 Men and love the product but I will be going back to have my brows re-done.

I'm sorry but when you said don't laugh and removed those glasses and that eye looks like Mike Tyson socked it to you good I couldn't help but laugh.....sorry you went through this I'm glad you ok now. I was looking up tint brows bc I just recently booked a microshading session which is permanent😮!!! Plus a tattoo so I'm like you hate needles and pain tolerance is low. I may have to forfeit on my deposit and rethink this situation. I asked myself why I never looked into eyebrow tinting and I guess everything has risk.....hopefully my procedure goes well
Tina, I am so sorry this happened to you. As Jusya UK below said, its the PPD. Here are the bad ingredients from the label: ...Para-aminophenol, Para-phenylenediamine... (not their spelling). Please ALWAYS do an allergy patch test before trying such products and wait at least two days to see if you have an allergic reaction. You brushed your brows before using, abrading the skin. I would have washed my whole face with shampoo. There is no pure henna that is black. As others have said, you could go to Ulta for a brow tint. I have used Just for Men beard dye without any reaction, but I patch tested first. Hope you had a great trip!

Oh no girl so sorry! I use just for men beard dye kit and works great and so far no reactions or anything. It is made for the face so a little safer to use.

Sad to say but any henna color that's not the natural reddish color is not real henna. Black "henna" in particular can be very dangerous. I wouldn't use that for your grays either.
Yeah these salons all offer henna brows yet they scream henna is no good for your hair yet these henna brows are chemical dyes with henna added in. 😒
