Great to see this again nearly 30 years on. I remember looking at the Liverpool defence that day and wondering how we would ever score. The celebrations when we did were incredible. Wasn't sure about the penalty at the time and still think it was harsh now. Couldn't make the replay, but was at Anfield for the 7-0 the year before. Wonderful experience, but City were totally outclassed - I'm not sure we even managed a shot on target in the warm up! Thanks for the Dave. Fantastic memories.
Great to see the likes of York City giving a good account of themselves against the might of Liverpool,no easy games back then, even the little clubs would give you a tough game back then unlike now.14>1 Amen.
"But then the referee was there and if he makes a decision, it's a penalty, then you have accept it". You can't find such managers in the game nowadays.
If this sort of football game was in this era I would love it more than today's crap the ball the kits the pitch the snow the crowds the grounds, and the referees lol has soon as the late nineties arrived so did the money grabbers, take care guys look after urselfs 🙏 godbless 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍
To this day I still feel it was a free kick to city, there was an excellent photo in The Sunday People the following day clearly showing Johnson had fouled Steve Senior but ha ho and yes city were robbed at Anfield, "strange there was no footage of the disallowed goal"😊 just saying
Could you imagine the pampered primadonna players of today playing on a pitch of that calibre in this day and age? The crybabies would all be screaming and crying to their parasitic agents
York always had a beautiful pitch flat and immaculate this match had followed a very lengthy winter spell with lot's of snow and freezing temperatures.
There was a time (I think it was before this) when the sponsor had to be smaller for games that were shown on TV. In 1986 there were TV games with both types. It seemed to change to being "Crown paints" in a line rather than one above the other during the season. No idea why. It changed back the following year.
" Dalglish described the pitch as diabolical and dangerous "....well you shouldn't have played then should you Kenny! If the Ref deemed it fit that's all that matters.
Liverpool's penalty was an ABSOLUTE (ABSOLUTE ABSOLUTE ABSOLUTE...is that ok for you?)joke which should have resulted in a free kick to York for a clear and obvious obstruction by Craig Johnson

WHY HAS THERE NEVER BEEN ANY FOOTAGE AVAILABLE OF EITHER LFC v YCFC ANFIELD REPLAY? I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ANYTHING FROM EITHER MATCH.
No need to shout! As far as I know there weren't TV cameras at either game.
@@DaveWallerLFCNot shouting
And a year later Keith Houchen wins the cup with Cov !!!!
Well said ,that’s exactly what I say.
City were robbed in the replay. A perfectly good goal disallowed.
There is a you tube clip on Liverpool FC TV where both Hansen and Lawrenson said there was nothing wrong with 'big' Keith's goal.

@@seanatkinson770 Thanks. I posted that clip :)
Why did Liverpool in this period have two different sponsor types on their shirts?? One long and one bigger strange that.

Yeah strange because they had the long type in this game and also when they won the title at Chelsea in 85-86.
Why did it look colder back then😂

Risk injury or forfeit the game. Great choice.
Even back then you can hear the disappointment in Martin Tyler’s voice when Liverpool equalised.

What's an abundance joke? Seems an unusual expression.
@DaveWallerLFC Yeah blame predictive text!! I know what I meant but just to satisfy you I will correct it...
Still spelt Johnston wrong. But you're allowed to make 2 mistakes and no one will be moaning about them in 37 years in all probability.
Looked like a penalty to me!!
York look like Arsenal.
