I am Yves Peter Carlo D. Medina; currently, a fourth year Juris Doctor student at the Ateneo Law School. I made this channel to share some of my thoughts and tips with regard to law school, law, my personal advocacies, and life.
In this video, I shared 5 tips that help me appreciate the study of law. Tips include general and practical. For my next entry, I am thinking of doing a video on how I recover from a bad recit or a failed exam. Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi, I'm interested in taking up law. I want to ask if do you really need to memorize the law or not? Because I'm super duper terrible when it comes to memorizing but I'm good at understanding and logic.
Hello! There are some technique to enhance your memorizing skills, but in general understanding and good logic are more helpful in the study of law. In my case, it’s easier for me to memorize once I understand the law.

Hello, any tips for academic probations?
Hello. I understand minsan nakakamanhid ang takot ‘pag kailangan maghabol sa acads. Pero sa akin nagwowork ung mindset na kakayanin kong bumawi. Mas nagiging strict lang ako with my routine, evaluate kung ano ba weakness ko then work on it.

During your second year, you mentioned coming to uni from 3-9pm. Was that Monday until Friday?
that sched was Monday and Wednesday.

Notes as in reviewers for these subjects?
video on how you file cases. per subject? i dont like reading the cases online/on screen. i print them. i dont know how best to file them.
ooops. medyo hindi rin ako credible dito. Guilty din ako of being not organized with my cases. Pero baka helpful if we insert tab per case and organized them per subject?
@@ypcdm my printed cases are all over the place. kalat-kalat. im thinking whether to bind them, use 2 or 3 ring binders (expensive coz the binders get filled easily), or use loose binder rings (cheap).
Oh i used binders before pero narealize ko sayang lang cause i cant use them when i want to print at the back portion. Pero feel ko rin kasi di ko masyado na store maayos like i failed to label them kaya di ko na sila nagamit. But if you labeled them properly feel ko mas madali hanapin for future use.
How to start taking law school or what should i consider doing for first step?
Hello! First you need to have an undergraduate degree. And then check the law schools for their requirements. There are some the require particular number of units for each discipline.

Would it still be okay to study law even if you're on your early 30s? I feel a bit insecure about going back to university at my age.

Hello! Depende sa subject and prof eh. Minsan around 10-20, may mga subject naman up to 40 cases per meeting.

hello! no, you’re not. Wala pong age requirement ang law school at lalo ang pangarap.
hi. im curious about the environment in ateneo law. 1. do you have profs who are assholes? 2. are the profs always punctual? 3. do profs make you submit 100 plus case digests?

1. I don’t think we have “assholes” profs. While profs have different teaching styles, I don’t think I encountered “assholes” in ateneo.
2. Not all the time.
3. I don’t recall submitting case digests as class requirement.

@@ypcdm May I ask what stops you from starting your own privater practice? You seem too good for a law firm.
Thank you for that compliment haha. Sobrang iba kasi sa practice and law school. I don’t think I can do my work well if I do private practice immediately after law school.
@@ypcdm Naku, you strike me as a person ready to conquer the world of law on his own. But in all honesty, have you heard of such thing where a law graduate straight from uni went into private practice straight away?

Now pumasok sa isip ko na gusto ko mag law. Pero I don't know how to start I really don't know. Just want to share my story pinatay sister ko 2 years ago and until now wala parin justice sobrang sakit , everyday we are suffering ng pamilya ko sa ngyari sa sister ko.

Yow folks, a second yr law student here. Sobrang unproductive ng online classes sakin, the fact na underload ako pero yung burden parang doble doble. I dont know why this is happening to me. Mukhang alanganin din 4 kong subjects ngayong midterm. I dont know if Im choosing the right path.
Hello! Second year talaga ang pinakamabigat na year and hindi ko ma-imagine paano pa ngayon na online class. Same here. Sobrang struggle maging productive, pero always pushing to stick with my routine na adjusted na. Pero if you think siguro na hindi ka talaga natututo and magiging di maganda foundation mo, remember na hindi naman masama magtake ng leave of absence if tingin mo kailangan talaga. wala naman deadline sa pag-abot ng mga pangarap.
OMG same po. Feeling ko alanganin din subjects ko ngayon. Sana masurvive natin 🤗
@@flpn1352 just finished my final exams and it seems na sure na 2 bagsak kong subjects, hayyyy (sales and crimpro) pero kasi unfair eh, alam kong kahit oncam yung exam sa sales iba samin nag-open notes

Yung matalino, hindi naman. You just need to learn how to study smart, comprehend the material, spot the issue, etc. For handwriting, baka dahil sa pagdigitalized ng bar, hindi na masyado magmatter.
