I finally switched took years never shot better, amazing difference. Took a ton of shooting but it is what I like to do.77 years , shooting since 13yrs shhh
Probably the best video I've seen so far that describes how to activate a hinge release. This has changed how I think about the mechanics of the activation. Thank you so much for making this video!
I've used a hinge for about 8 years now and enjoy it, far more consistent when shooting targets. I've played around with several techniques and for me George Ryals aka. GRIV has the best technique. Very similar technique, expand and relax style. Good choice in release as well, I have two HT3s setup for different bows. Keep up the great content guys and gals.
I just ordered my first hinge release from GoHunt. My question: can sweaty hands cause a problem? Would it be a bad idea to use a little grip tape on the release?
I switched to tension release a few years back for hunting. I have been wanting to get a hinge to shoot as well but all the ones I have shot have the neck to long and males me hyperextended to execute the shot. I want to try the onnex hinge and if I like it I will most likely go that route. However I completely agree with the hinge/tension making a better shooter/hunter with the end user. Makes you slow down and focus on the shot rather than just punch when the opportunity arises
I shot traditional for 30 years then went to a compound d/t a shoulder injury. I started with a thumb release and at times relaxed my hand as in my old way and let go of the release! Just ingrained motor memory from 1000,000s arrows being shot that way. I had to go to a finger release with a wrist strap.
Helpful video. Thanks. Today was my first training using hinge release. It was a new experience :) But I have a question about your bow setup. What is the lenght of the front and the rear stabiliser? 10" / 10" I have similar Matthews and it interest me.
Yes, that's a Tru-Ball Ht Pro which is a brass handle. I like the weight of a brass or a stainless steel release. I set mine somewhere in the middle, it's not hot and it's not heavy in the sense that I struggle to get it to go off. I do want enough movement that I can get into the release some and "work through" the the shot process...pulling/tension through the rhomboid and relaxing my hand/wrist/forearm. Hopefully that makes sense. Let me know if you have any further questions!
Interesting, that you describe your execution of pulling back and with this the hand rotates. But if you look closely, you relax the fingers while maintaining back tension. 6:046:58
I’ll never understand videos titled “how to do x” and the entire video is a lesson on what “x” is. Like yeah man I’ve been shooting a hinge for 6 months I know there are different variations on finger slots. Now please tell me about the technique of making it go off. I know how the release works. I know the parts and pieces. Every video I’ve ever watched does this it’s infuriating
This should be titled “how to explain a hinge release to someone who does not know what archery is” every video on the internet is this way it’s not just this one.

I also had mild target panic, picked up an ultraview hinge last year and can say it has helped me.

Thanks Trail! I just purchased my first hinge release 🤙🏽 gonna use it primarily for target comps 🤙🏽
Awesome instructions Thank You🏹
Thank you Trail for sharing this great information
God's Blessings
You bet!
You guys are great. I will be switching to a hinge this year. I get target panic and I think this is the fix!
This is my first year shooting a hinge. So far I really like it
Been off and on with hinge I have now committed to one
Awesome tips thanks for posting

If I were to ever get back into archery hunting I would try to go this route for same target panic reason.
Trail, do you have a video on your ‘D’ loop setup for this?

Thks! for the video will be doing some research on this looks promising hunt whitetails in VA, Shenandoah mountains ,100% looks good.
I feel the same way it has made archery so much fun compared to having target panic with punching trigger.

I’ve experienced the same type of target panic and have been now shooting a hinge and really haven’t switched back. Don’t think I ever will now.
Is your’s brass? Do you set it ‘hot’ or ‘cold’ for hunting?

Ty, appreciate reply. When you branch out on your own and need personal assistant lemme know. You have done a ton for hunting community
You never said what hinge release you using there? I really like the looks of it.
It's a truball ht4 brass

Step 1. Don't.
