Personally when I first saw DHMIS, the gore and blood wasn’t the part that scared me. “The story of Michael” from the original love episode stuck with me.
This Is the story of Michael. The loneliest boy in town. Ugly and weak they called him a Freak! So he lived on his own underground. So he lived on his own underground. So he lived on his own underground. *silence* “See everyone has a special one.” *even more silence* “EVEN MICHAEL!”
the reason why it's way less horror-focused is because it loses shock value in 20 minute episodes, as compared to 5 minute episodes. this just makes it so that you get more surprised when the horror comes in smaller doses
**they show up in the factory** "Please tell me that there's a work accident." I think that you specifically might be this show's exact target audience. Everybody else is incidental.
Doubt it it’s definitely a metaphor for works ability to break you physiologically through overwork and just ignoring the roots the the symptoms of stress that affect your productivity without caring about the underlining issues with their structures
I think you could make a case for any of them except maybe the Death one. That one just had so few locations it didn’t feel like as much of a journey as the others
the tv show exceeded my expectations, and my expectations were already pretty high! the DHMIS crew are some immensely talented folks, man hope you enjoy the ensuing chaos, it's a wild ride
Has anyone else noticed 'We all eat lunch from a vending machine" Sounds eerily similar to "We all live in a yellow submarine?" Both in words and melody.
Something I noticed on my first watch is the bits and parts aren't going anywhere. The quality pipe goes back to the start and it just keeps repeating. Also as someone that worked in multiple warehouses(Amazon, FedEx, etc.) the vending machine bit is pretty funny. Though none of the warehouses I worked at had a free vending machine. Which I don't honestly know if that's better or worse.
I mean it is extremely accurate at presenting the complete uselessness of most jobs that only exist because we are forced into an economy that only cares about productivity and money over human health or living
Weird how representative the fake/dream scenario they went through is of their different approaches to work/life. Red Guy just wants to sit around and do nothing, so he gets immediately hired into upper management where he sits in his office and gets to do nothing while even ignoring most of the substance of the phone calls he picks up. Yellow Guy wanted to do things that work with his hands (computers, lumberjack/carpenter, etc) and was generally happy with whatever as long as he felt included, so he got a pretty chill life with a wife and kid while doing a menial but hands-on job. Duck just wanted to do SOMETHING, but didn't know what he wanted, so when he finally got put in this job and wasn't very good/was unliked by those around, he found himself getting alienated and depressed in his own way. The whole Care Hound thing literally shoots him forward decades into the future which is kind of representative of how getting trapped in a job you don't like can feel like you've done absolutely nothing--like you've coasted through life for years and years with nothing to show for it. For all his time spent "at" the company, he was basically like a new hire, while everyone else seemed to live fulfilling lives.
It's a bummer that the previous pilot setting was scrapped, but this feels like the series never left. The episodes feel a little dragged but I don't really mind it.
they had to cancel the original plot because they were going to try to focus on current events, kind of like south park, but then they realized it takes too long to make episodes so by the time the episodes would come out the events they're referencing would already be out of the viewers minds
The show really benefits from not being like the og pilot, cause one of the central conflicts and character motivations is not having other people to talk to and seeking it out
I came to a bunch of meanings throughout the episode but a simple one to my knowledge is the way the briefcase eats fast and erratically symbolizing that people either need or feel like they have to rush just to make it to work on time as job sites don't care what ones reason for being late you will get pointed and I can prove it, I did factory work for over four years and the first year and a half I was never late missed a day or took time off and I had to walk a half hour everyday to and from work. Well on the way to work I always had to pass over railroad tracks and for the most part the train wouldn't hold me up or it would pass late or had already passed, this particular day the train blocked me and continued to back up and move forward with long trail of train cars with no way around and it held me up for fifteen minutes and by the time I got to work I was five or ten minutes late and got a point even after I explained my problem and was told it's no one's job but my own to be at work everyday on time.
i feel like the original series was a comedic horror, while the tv series is more of a dark comedy. i personally prefer the tv series bc its got more character depth and the jokes are great. that said, i miss the amount of spooky stuff from the og

My theory is that the tv show is actually a prequel to the UA-cam series. It could explain why all the previous teachers are now calmer and not aggressive. Perhaps in Episode 6 Roy was looking for other teachers so he can make the tv show in the UA-cam series.
A better theory is that this show takes place after the web series. Basically and Red Yellow and Duck can do what ever they want. Because in the web show Roy was the one controlling the three to make a corrupted kid series until the end when Red unplugs the power to the show. But now instead of Roy there is a new puppet master at work and controls the three not for a show but personal entertainment. Things like Duck’s death, the manipulative job, and the evil family are all means to play with the now expendable group. Roy knows about this the most and doesn’t like being second banana so he saves his son from the crazy family in protest.
