    This was super informative and condensed in info, to the point. I'm standing next to one and you walked me through all the important things. Thank you

    Mr This is Carpentry (sorry I don't know your real name,) I'm a professional cabinetmaker and want to let you know that I appreciate on these reviews how you focus on things that actually matter and none of the flash and show. You know what's important in a job and that shows well. One question that I think could be addressed is, what happens if it rains on the sawstop? We all try to keep our saws and tools dry, but everyone knows that once in a while, rain happens, or the ply-decking on the floor above is allowing some drips to come through if you are under cover. That is half the reason why all or most of these jobsite saws come with aluminum tables, its not just for weight but they don't rust. Any thoughts on this?

    The support is not flush with the table top it’s higher and the fence has over 3mm in deflection , a good saw for rough work , I like the speed of the blade raise, pity it wasn’t on the contractor saw. I much preferred my dewalt saw , wish I didn’t sell it to buy this one ☝️

    It’s also way more wobbly than the Dewalt saw I find .

    The Bosch saw cut faster and seemed to me like it wasn't affected by him trying to bog it down. Then he cut with the saw stop and doesn't attempt to bog it down but it still bogged down lol.

    This is a great review and comparison. Bosch has a new model with its own version that drops the blade if it comes in contact with your skin. It doesn't destroy the blade and the cartridge cost you $50 per use. It can be put back into service in a couple of minutes. It will be available fall of 2015.

      +Tec 9 It didn't come out because SawStop tried to sue them for actually competing with a different technology on safety. SawStop lost and the Bosch ReaXX is now taking orders. Of course it is $1500 vs SawStop $1200, but comes with nice left and rear extensions.

    The question I would like answered is about the gears ( the ones that adjust the height and angle of the blade).......... are they made of metal or plastic?

    to compere these two saws is not fair. As you might know, bosch came up with there own finger saving saw... i think it is called the Bosch Reaxx. Unlike the sawstop, when activating, it will not ruin your blade. i would be interested in seeing a comparison between those two. that would be fair.

    Was seriously thinking of biting the bullet and purchasing the Sawstop job site until watching a handful of videos on it. After watching them I was disappointedly underwhelmed by it"s performance. In every one of the videos, the saw really seemed to bog down, even when cutting a soft wood like pine, especially in this one where it's easy to see how much the Bosche outperformed it, even after he went out of his way, trying much harder to make it bog down, than the Sawstop. The finger saving technology on the Sawstops is a great thing but it's too bad they've priced it out of most peoples price range, (and yes, I know, whats your finger worth?). I can't blame them for trying to make as much as they can from their invention but I don't know if I can bring myself to pay the money for their saws that don't perform any better than saws costing half as much. Priced one of their 3hp cabinet saws and after all the accessories needed to run it and the shipping and handling, you would need to take out a second mortgage to pay for it. Of course I'm kidding but it was, the better part of $4,000, which is 1 1/2 - 2 times the money for a lot of saws that are as good if not better. Have to admit though, they've done a great job getting in peoples heads, mine included, making you worry about the what if?, if you don't buy one of their saws.

      Rose Lucas, I agree. He takes the time to create videos of commercial quality, yet doesn’t respond to viewers. If I were you, I’d unsubscribe or block the bugger, because he’s not interested in helping others; he’s just in it for the fame and fortune.

      My non-sawstop jobsite saws do this as well, just normal wear. Tables are made of aluminum but have some sort of paint like coating on their surfaces that will wear or rub in places.

    Love the saw but I am unwilling to spend twice as much. That's a deal killer for me. You're saying that the SawStop will get $1200 street? Too rich for my blood.

    • @TheVelluch
      @TheVelluch 8 років тому +2

      +AbbieHoffmansGhost I initially thought that also. Having been a firefighter/paramedic for 15 years now I have enough injury slides in my head of people who made a split second decision and accidentally cut of a portion of their hand off. That is why I don't mind paying extra. In my situation of being a hobbyist woodworker, loosing a finger or two would cause me to lose my full time job and would affect my family, so I like the piece of mind. Just my 2 cents

    Bocsh came out with Reaxx that drop the blade down ànd don't destroy it but was sue by Saw Stop you can buy it in Canada so your unfair jugement of Bosch in uncalled for ànd Saw Stop two safety patents end in this August it has a extended to 2024 that is if the government allows ànd with two Bosch ànd Whirlwind system the Saw Stop nix I am betting it will be the end in August as other saw safety sensor technology is now available

      Best saw out there by far. You cheap guy use cheap crap. No better tools than Festool. If you haven't used it don't bag. I got ride of all my Dewalt garbage after using Festool. I have this table saw and would use no there...simple as that. The Bocsh sucks.

    Great saw to have for job site. Way overpriced for the average company. Just because it stops the blade is not going to be enough to be competitive. And dado- capable isn't important on most job sites. You lost a big market, simply on the price of your saws. Love to own one, but never will. I guess the only fibers SawStop cares about are the hands of the wealthy or big business.

    Thanks for the demo, but seeing you use the Bosch ripping that 2x4 with no eye protection, no riving knife, no push handle.. Jeez and you call yourself a professional? What happened to safety? I guess you're so used to your Sawstop you've thrown out common sense! Tsk Tsk.

  • @RockwoodJoe

    Ha ha, jams 2x4 through bosch 7:14 without push stick, then uses a push stick for the sawstop. Amazing how the sawstop is already at correct height vs that cumbersome bosch. Confidence inspiring. Thumbs down for a contrived review.

    Because of the inventors attempt to push legislation requiring all table saws to have his patented technology, I will never purchase one of his products. Although this is a remarkable and impressive innovation, I believe strongly in the free market and the power of competition. Resorting to our bloated overreaching government to force this upon consumers is sickening to me. Plus, they don't work on wet lumber. My bosch has been riding in the bed of my truck for 12 years and is still perfect. My employees know that they are required to use a push stick when using it. If I'm caught in a rainstorm while its in my truck I slide the fence over the blade slot and wipe it off when I get home.

      +ootsam do you also refuse to buy a new car because legislation requires airbags, abs breaks, and seatbelt?

    • @jamesjosephson1142
      @jamesjosephson1142 8 років тому

      +TheVelluch Not the same thing at all.  Car manufacturers are free to use any airbag, brake, and seatbelt tech or even use their own.  They are not forced to only use airbags from company X, brakes from company Y, and seatbelts from company Z. SawStop tried to have the government try to and force other companies to only use their tech and no others, as well as not allowing other companies to compete using a completely different tech.  SawStop tried to basically say "We patent the idea of saving table saw accidents of any type no matter what tech is used."  While I am completely on board with them having the right to try, it would have been complete BS if they had won.  In fact, the 12 month delay it caused Bosch should have been a counter suit by Bosch in my opinion for all the lost revenue.This is not saying the SawStop is not an excellent saw.  Probably still one of the best performer out there. While I dislike their corporate practice, they are still going to be a few hundred dollars less than the Bosch ReaXX which is not going to bring down any price.  Although the Bosch will be a few hundred more, I think it will come with a left extension and an outfeed extension standard which is nice.  Add that in to the SawStop and it may be a hundred or so less than the SawStop.
