All Tamaraneans look like Starfire with the orangish skin, green eyes and red hair. Although, Blackfire seems to look different than the rest of her kind. This is likely a reference to her comic counterpart being born deformed by Tamaranean standards. In the comics, all Tamaraneans have the ability to fly, but Blackfire could not because of an illness. Cyborg eventually becomes a member of the Justice League with Batman! These are all DC characters. They are all actually pretty badass characters but mostly live in the comics, or they did until this show!
Backstories will come eventually! This show does a great job of pacing how we learn more about each hero, from little detail drops to full episodes/arcs about each of them. I love this show for respecting it's characters so much, and giving them time to grow and figure each other out through teamwork as well being teenage roomates. Plus it's such a good balance between silly hilarity and dark drama. Enjoy!
Hynden Walch does the voice for Starfire and Blackfire But she adds such different tone for each Starfire's voice is younger, more innocent While Darkfire's has a more deep inflection, is more sultry and goes between sarcsitc and condescending.
Ah yeah, let’s freaking go! One of my most favorite shows ever to come out of Warner Bros! A lot of action, drama, anime-like comedy, and great character developing arcs to boot, such a great show!
(At 1:09) That's not the first episode. The first episode had Cinderblock and Plasmus, first introduced us to Deathstroke (or going by his first name since it was supposed to be less violent Slade) voice by Ron Perlman, Cyborg and Robin got an argument Cyborg quit… then he came back after stopping Cinderblock alone, AND it not to mention Beast Boy's voice actor, Greg Cipes's voice, started breaking.
They're all DC characters, all of them are Justice League when they get older. Batman Superman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter are the original members. Basically the Justice League B-Team. (Boom for reference think Guardians of the Galaxy) The main villain of this show is Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke. (One of the best fights in Arkham Origins)
Hynden Walch, Scott Menville, Tara Strong, Khary Payton, and Greg Cipes (The way these five interact in the recording booth in the original and in GO! must be really fun!)
- Robin is voiced by Scott Menville who also voices Fred (Flintsone Kids), Zack (Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego), King (Justice League), Shaggy, Trebla, & others (Get A Clue), Jimmy, T.J., & others (Ben 10), Sneezy (7D), Nate (Gravity Falls), & a lot more - Starfire is voiced by Hynden Walch who also voices Blackfire in this series, Princess Bubblegum (Adventure Time), Harley (DC animated films), Aletheia (Ducktales -2017), Emiri (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), Penny & others (Chalk Zone), Permafrost (Static Shock), Ace (Justice League), Sumi & others (Penn Zero), Alice (Kingdom Hearts / Cookie Run: Kingdom), & many more - Cyborg is voiced by Khary Payton who also voices Manny, Hex, & others (Ben 10), Aqualad , Black Manta, Black Lighting, Brick, & others (Young Justice), Black Samson & others (Invincible), Wasabi (Big Hero 6: the Series), Uriel (Vox Machina), Ten (Justice League), Maurice aka 9 & others (Codename Kids Next Door), Deuce (Loonatic Unleash), Tyr (Legion of Superheroes), Penguin King (The Super Mario Bros. I believe Divide And Conquer is actually supposed to be the first episode, but they probably both work about as well as a first ep Anyway, I absolutely love this show!! It and X Men Evolution are like THE superhero shows I grew up with for DC and Marvel respectively Beast Boy's my favorite character of all time and he's the reason why shapeshifting's my favorite superpower There is going to be a backstory episode eventually that'll explain how they all met and became the Titans btw, but you'll have to wait until the last season for that one
Divide and Conquer is ABSOLUTELY the first episode, but CN got the order wrong. Not too big a deal, this show is pretty episodic. But it does make things flow better in terms of story in keeping episodes 1 and 3 as...episodes 1 and 3.
So happy to see you guys watch this! Hope you enjoy the ride. Just to clarify things for you, yes Robin is the leader and the team has just formed so that's why they weren't very coordinated. They're still finding their footing. For a cartoon this show does tackle some deep topics and the world building is great. My favorite character is Raven; I love her deadpan and sarcastic humor and it still makes me laugh. Her voice actress is legendary Tara Strong who does the voice for Ben 10, Timmy Turner from Fairly Odd Parents, and Bubbles from PowerPuff Girls, among so many more.
I just realized-they weren’t a superhero group in the first episode. They were five freakshow teens that found comfort in each other built a giant house to live comfortably away from judgement. I think that’s why they were caught off guard and got their ass whooped. Plus we saw the Hive training so it fair to assume they’re combat specialist and have more experience.
Jumping in with the beloved show of the Teen Titans; sidekicks and young heroes banded together to stand on their own. Dick Grayson's Robin, Doom Patrol's Beast Boy, Cyborg Starfire, and Raven have a great dynamic as differently built characters. The animation also leans a bit on anime at time, more vibrant expressions, flowing action and worldbending for narrative effect. Plus you get Ron Perlman as our villain in the shadows, Slade.
Glen Murakami wanted Teen Titans' animation style to stand out from traditional hero cartoons, so they mixed anime into his style. They called it 'Murakanime'
Fun fact, the voice actor for Beast Boy is also Michelangelo from the TMNT 2k12 series. You can easily hear both of them. And to answer your question, Starfire is an alien that's why she talks the way she does.
It's funny you called them the New Teen Titans cause that's the name of the comic this is based on. In the comic the original members were Robin, Speedy, Kid Flash, Wondergirl and Aqualad
Something I always found interesting is that in the comics a large part of Blackfire’s hatred for Starfire is that she is actually the older sister but got passed over for inheritance because she was born with an illness that caused her to be unable to absorb solar radiation to power her flight and durability like all other Tamaraneans can and she only became capable of it after the experiments that gave her and Starfire the ability to shoot energy blasts. While the show never directly states this is the case here it’s kinda implied by the fact that unlike her sister Blackfire actually wears armour, because she’s used to it and she doesn’t benefit from exposing her skin to the sun like Starfire does.
Yes, important stuff to know -Teen Titans does have filler episodes, which you can tell ahead of time based on the Japanese themesong that will play -Each Season has a focal main character, which will be revealed as you watch -Teen Titans Go is widely hated specifically because Teen Titans was cancelled before the final season for whatever reason, and then the reboot was launched, with a similar episode of a week fashion to shows like the Amazing World of Gumball and Regular Show. Its worth a watch, since the show is imo very funny, and is loved by all the original staff who jumped ship from the original Teen Titans show
@@magnum9588 no, the creators confirmed as such. Each titan was supposed to have a season where they were the main character. Season 1 was Robin, 2 was Terra, 3 was Cyborg, 4 was Raven, and 5 was Beastboy. Season 6 was supposed to center on Starfire, but again, it got cancelled after the movie.

Yeah, the Hive went in with a plan, and caught them off guard. Then the teen titans went home to recuperate and got caught off guard again. Robin came back and came up with a plan to catch them off guard instead
Holy shit! I’m refreshing my notification feed to see when you guys were gonna post. And then for a split second, I see Blackfire in the thumbnail. LET’S FREAKING GO!!! You are reacting to another one of Cartoon Network’s best shows and one of DC’s best animated shows.
And yeah, blackfire is waaaay more evil in the comics, they toned a lot of dark stuff down for the show. Im the comics, she got her little sister and brother enslaved, tortured her sister, joined a conquering & murderous empire, and tried to murder her parents and sister - all in the midst of a civil war she started lol.
Dick Grayson aka. Robin is the first Robin training under Batman. We've seen him quite a lot in various media. Victor Stone aka. Cyborg was a football player who had an accident in his dad's lab, and in order to save his life, his father turned him into what he is now. Rachel Roth, also known more commonly as Raven, is a half-demon with dark powers. Garfield Logan, also known as Beast Boy, has the ability to turn into any and all animals, all of which remains green. He can even turn into aliens, as long as that alien counts as an animal on it's homeworld. Koriand'r, aka. Starfire, is an alien from the planet Tamaran. She can fly, has super strength, and can shoot out starbolts from her hands.
Man I never thought to witness you guys reacting to a DC Classic show that brings so much amazing story with a team that are just teenagers doing heroic work without their main idol with them. 😄 I highly recommend checking out “Young Justice” after watching this show.
I do love that Robin was always there for Star and was the most supportive of her, and the fact he was the most suspicious of Blackfire, and the fact that he jumped off a building to save her, episode 2 made me ship them.
I just realized that the Ep 1 I thought I knew of, wasn't actually Episode 1 lol. It was Season 5 Ep 10, "Go!". I could swear up until today that that episode was Episode 1 of Teen Titans. Where Starfire crashed on Earth and they first met.
Funny enough TT was part of my teenage-hood growing up. Hell it was what sparked my interest in roleplaying. Back when Yahoo! had custom chat rooms I would constantly be in chat rooms roleplaying BB. Here is some non spoiler context: By non spoiler I mean you can find this out through comics and stuff but isn’t shown or atleast not specifically elaborated upon in the show and it’s good to just keep in mind. Robin the leader is dick Grayson the first robin as there are like a lot of robins but he’s the founder of the teen titans and goes on to be nightwing. He was tired of being a side kick as he had grown quite a bit and decided to become someone who’s a real hero and leader so he began a team and went out for recruits. Beastboy or Garfield is somone whose story will be revealed so I won’t spoil but when robin found him he was hurt and alone due to running from family type issues and being constricted Raven has a lot of lore and focus later so I won’t say too much apart from she’s a magical being from another dimension and was supposed to live a dark lonely and aful life until robin convinced her to join Star fire is an ex warrior princess from planet tamaran who you’ll learn more about later she had been crashed onto earth confused and robin had recruited her Cyborg is really tradgic as he was a normal football player called victor in college who got into a terrible accident where most of his body was destroyed but his father a scientist combined him with a cyber body he was working on and an outcast robin recruited him and gave him a home and purpose reminding him he’s human and conforting everyone That’s all the non spoiler context to them
There is an episode that explains how the Titans met, but is like further into the series. Its not even like a flashback episode. Its just their actual first meeting. Also, just kinda assume adult supers like Superman and Batman are a thing in this universe, just don't expect to see them. Batman shows up once, and that was only in the spin off comics for this show.
All of them are DC characters from the comics. Robin in this show is Dick Grason the first robin, he and Batman had a falling out so Dick deside to leave and be his own hero, because of his experience with Batman he has the most experience which is why he is team leader. Starfire is an alien from and other planet. Raven is a half demon witch from another dimension. Beastboy is a shapshifter for a different team. (I can't remember the name) And Cyborg was a normal jock named Steven Stone who was in a very bad accident the severely damaged his body.
The Teen Titans are a group formed by the sidekicks of the Justice League members. The original team was: Robin (Dick Grayson , the first Robin), Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl and Speedy (Green Arrow's sidekick). They formed the team to be more independent and be heroes on their own. The second and most popular formation, which this show adapts is: Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Wonder Girl and Kid Flash. Between them Robin has the most experience in crime fighting, he sarted at 8 years old

Hearing them talk about the batman media they know and the what they know about batman based on the movies, man I wish we got a big ticket movie that focused on the bat-fam. I need more people to know that Batman has like eight kids and I need some respect on the other Robin's names

HAEYP is an acronym for the Hive Academy for Extraordinary Young People lol
Hynden Walch does the voice for Starfire and Blackfire
But she adds such different tone for each
Starfire's voice is younger, more innocent
While Darkfire's has a more deep inflection, is more sultry and goes between sarcsitc and condescending.
"I know Cyborg is a DC character, I dunno about the rest"
poor Robin lmao
Sadly Live Action is most entry points and yeah them killing off Robin in every recent iteration is doing its damage
(At 5:39) technically this is taking place in Jump City, wherever the hell that is, in the DC universe.
It is.
IIRC doesn’t Hynden voice _both_ sisters?
@@JAnne_Bonne Yes
Starfire has always been my fave of the Titans.
- Robin is voiced by Scott Menville who also voices Fred (Flintsone Kids), Zack (Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego), King (Justice League), Shaggy, Trebla, & others (Get A Clue), Jimmy, T.J., & others (Ben 10), Sneezy (7D), Nate (Gravity Falls), & a lot more
- Starfire is voiced by Hynden Walch who also voices Blackfire in this series, Princess Bubblegum (Adventure Time), Harley (DC animated films), Aletheia (Ducktales -2017), Emiri (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), Penny & others (Chalk Zone), Permafrost (Static Shock), Ace (Justice League), Sumi & others (Penn Zero), Alice (Kingdom Hearts / Cookie Run: Kingdom), & many more
- Cyborg is voiced by Khary Payton who also voices Manny, Hex, & others (Ben 10), Aqualad , Black Manta, Black Lighting, Brick, & others (Young Justice), Black Samson & others (Invincible), Wasabi (Big Hero 6: the Series), Uriel (Vox Machina), Ten (Justice League), Maurice aka 9 & others (Codename Kids Next Door), Deuce (Loonatic Unleash), Tyr (Legion of Superheroes), Penguin King (The Super Mario Bros. Movie), & many more
- Raven is voiced by Tara Strong who also voices Bubbles (PPG), Timmy, Poof, & others (Fairy Oddparents), Dil & others (Rugrats), Barbara / Batgirl & Harley (DC animated media, Ashi & others (Samurai Jack), & a lot more
- Beast Boy is voiced by Greg Cipes who also voice Kevin (Ben 10) & was also Stinkfly (Ben 10 reboot), Michelangelo (TMNT -2012) then was S.H.E.L.D.O.N. (Rise), Danny / Iron Fist (Marvel animated series), Chiro (SRMTHFG), Vero (Ducktales -2017), & many more
2:59 I love how the building is shaped like a Pizza and the Umbrellas look like Pepperoni Slices. Best Pizza Place Design in a Series.
I believe Divide And Conquer is actually supposed to be the first episode, but they probably both work about as well as a first ep
Anyway, I absolutely love this show!! It and X Men Evolution are like THE superhero shows I grew up with for DC and Marvel respectively
Beast Boy's my favorite character of all time and he's the reason why shapeshifting's my favorite superpower
There is going to be a backstory episode eventually that'll explain how they all met and became the Titans btw, but you'll have to wait until the last season for that one
Divide and Conquer is ABSOLUTELY the first episode, but CN got the order wrong. Not too big a deal, this show is pretty episodic. But it does make things flow better in terms of story in keeping episodes 1 and 3 as...episodes 1 and 3.
This was one of my favorite shows growing up! I still remember the book episode with Raven.
Yup
This was my favorite show as a kid
Yes, important stuff to know
-Teen Titans does have filler episodes, which you can tell ahead of time based on the Japanese themesong that will play
-Each Season has a focal main character, which will be revealed as you watch
-Teen Titans Go is widely hated specifically because Teen Titans was cancelled before the final season for whatever reason, and then the reboot was launched, with a similar episode of a week fashion to shows like the Amazing World of Gumball and Regular Show. Its worth a watch, since the show is imo very funny, and is loved by all the original staff who jumped ship from the original Teen Titans show
They were never going to have a "final season". The 5th was going to end it.
I’m so happy to see you guys watching and enjoying Teen Titans! This is one of the shows I grew up watching and still re-watch to this day. I also wanted to recommend Legion of Superheroes (2006) or Codename: Kids Next Door-as I have fond memories of those shows, as well, and they give of kinda similar vibes 💜
Ah yes the show that gave my whole generation a crippling addiction to goth girls. Good times!
It's fun seeing you guys figure stuff out especially since you aren't well versed in the DC Universe.
Also fun fact: Starfire and Blackfire's real names are Koryand'r and Komand'r respectively which is pretty funny.
Heads up on the theme song- if it’s in English, it’s generally gonna be played straight- if it’s in Japanese, it’s gonna be a sillier episode iirc
That is so true. I could tell the difference.
I remember learning how much darker Blackfire was in the comics, and my god… a saint like Starfire deserves so much better.
Love this show, own the whole series.
In the song 'Teen Titans', at the end, when they say "1 2 3 4 Go" go also means 5 in Japanese. Cool huh😄
You guys will get backstory on how the Teen Titans formed once you get to Season 5, episode titled "Go".
OMG I just finished watching Teen Titans again on Amazon Prime, wasn't expecting for you guys to see it.
This is gonna be so good!
Btw you should know the Intro changes from Japanese to English.
The japanese intro means is not a serious episode.
Just wanna thanks for reacting to this show! Teen Titans was my childhood show growing up and Beast Boy to this day is still my favorite Titan member. ✌
It’s still considered a crime that we didn’t get a follow up season, as popular as OG TT was/is among the community.
Dude, what?? This was my favorite cartoon as a kid. I’m so HYPED!
The decisions on what to react to this last week have been WONDERFUL!
NO WAY
I’ve been wanting to rewatch this show in my own time but haven’t gotten into it but I’m SO DOWN to watch this with you guys I’m so excited 😭
I did not expect this! One of my favorites growing up!
Sweet! I hope they also react to the Tokyo movie as well when they finish the series.
So glad you guys are reaction to this show, you guys won't regret it. It is the best cartoon easily IMO.
Ohhhh, visiting one of my all-time favorite childhood shows, are we? I'm down for a wild trip down memory lane with y'all!
I do love that Robin was always there for Star and was the most supportive of her, and the fact he was the most suspicious of Blackfire, and the fact that he jumped off a building to save her, episode 2 made me ship them.
Young Justice League will give you everything you need for a great DC experience.
Also starfire is the voice of princess bubblegum
You’ll like their origins.😊
Fun fact: Starfire shares a voice actress with Princess Bubblegum
Its a shame they aren't doing the chronological timeline of the show, but this is still good.
I was wondering why the first episode seemed different because I remembered the Titans fighting some giant statue
Ooooh, so that's why I remembered the first episode being different!
If I'm right the movie is the actual first meeting right?
@@jamesrobson8308No
I just realized that the Ep 1 I thought I knew of, wasn't actually Episode 1 lol.
Most likely the people in those chat rooms were catfishers but I was not in there looking for anybody. I was a part of a community that loved this show. After it ended my RP days went into this group of pirates. I was the first mate of our Captain named Tullo. Went on for years until the chat rooms vanished.
Regardless TT holds a special place in my heart and that is why I have all of the seasons on Xbox purchased. Glad you guys are checking this out. C:
Simple enough all of these characters are DC and it's implied the big time DC heroes exist in this universe but the titans take center stage
Here is some non spoiler context:
By non spoiler I mean you can find this out through comics and stuff but isn’t shown or atleast not specifically elaborated upon in the show and it’s good to just keep in mind.
Beastboy or Garfield is somone whose story will be revealed so I won’t spoil but when robin found him he was hurt and alone due to running from family type issues and being constricted
Raven has a lot of lore and focus later so I won’t say too much apart from she’s a magical being from another dimension and was supposed to live a dark lonely and aful life until robin convinced her to join
Star fire is an ex warrior princess from planet tamaran who you’ll learn more about later she had been crashed onto earth confused and robin had recruited her
Cyborg is really tradgic as he was a normal football player called victor in college who got into a terrible accident where most of his body was destroyed but his father a scientist combined him with a cyber body he was working on and an outcast robin recruited him and gave him a home and purpose reminding him he’s human and conforting everyone
That’s all the non spoiler context to them
Iirc beast boy got his powers from a blood transfusion and experimental medicine iirc, and his family was killed by animal poachers.
One of THE best TV shows ever. Even with your log of shows to react to, this is one you’ll be dying to get back to.
Season 5. Episode Go. Explains how the Titans became a team. I don't know why they placed it in the last season, but it shows how they became a team.
This was one of my favorite shows while I was a kid, I’m so glad you guys are reacting to it.
Teen Titans is my favorite CN show!
(At 2:17) You should be able to recognize the King's voice from Vox Machina, "Khary Payton"
Black fire was one of my childhood crushes, ngl. Such a baddie
(At 1:53) This is the same Japanese band who had their own spin-off show on Cartoon Network "Puffy Amiyumi"
About Starfire and Robin, they are together as adults in one of the animated movies and they flirt with each other a lot.
(I can't remember the name)
And Cyborg was a normal jock named Steven Stone who was in a very bad accident the severely damaged his body.
BB's team was Doom Patrol
Cyborg's Victor not Steven Stone.
If I remember right, this is one of those shows where the episodes aren't in chronological order.
Starfire not only has a sister but also a brother named a Wildfire
So happy to see them watching one of the best cartoons ever!! and a LOT of people had a crush on Raven.
Between them Robin has the most experience in crime fighting, he sarted at 8 years old
I'm so excited for this journey, and I know you guys literally just started but I hope this means you guys can react to young justice too someday as well
this, the DCAU and Young Justics are all good times to be had
I thought they gonna say that those aliens police looks like something from Ben 10, for me they look like Six Six / Seven Seven, even the green tentacles of the ship looks like Goop xD
Teen Titans is one of the best shows I enjoyed watching. I love the actions and awesome battles
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🔥🔥🔥💗💗💗
I think Boom will be interested to know that slade is voiced by Ron Pearlman
If you didn't know this robin is dick grason the first robin batman had multiple robins. This robin left to join the teen titans then batman took in another one and more in the future its a whole thing.
Starfire sounds like Princess Bubblegum. - Billy
Teen titans was one of the 2 DC superhero shows I watched as a kid, the other being Static Shock (which is also really good).
Glad to see you guys somewhat enjoying for the first time.
Ah yes the best villain of the show Deathstro- I mean Slade. So yeah fun fact in the comics Slade is just the real first name of Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke, a mercenary and asshole. Deathstroke was deemed "too dark" of a name for a kids show. So instead they use Slade.
I'd love to see you guys also reacting to Young Justice, Another DC animated show much like Teen Titans. Very very good
Wooo! Chat coming through with this one! Awesome series that was tragically cut short, but is still awesome!
Also, I loved Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi as a kid.
31:27 I think I could rewatch this moment a hundred times.
You're gonna love this so much, Teen Titian's is such a wonderful show! I cannot wait until my favourite arc comes along!!
Hearing them talk about the batman media they know and the what they know about batman based on the movies, man I wish we got a big ticket movie that focused on the bat-fam. I need more people to know that Batman has like eight kids and I need some respect on the other Robin's names
