We kick-start our day with a luxurious breakfast experience at Azoris Faial garden before packing up our bags and hopping on a ferry from Hotra to Madalena, the gateway to this volcanic paradise.
Once we arrive, the vibrant city of Madalena beckons us to explore its charming streets and indulge in the delightful flavors of local cuisine. Our adventure continues as we jump into our car and set off to discover the remarkable sights that await us! Our first stop takes us to the awe-inspiring vineyards of Lajido Da Criacao Velha, an exceptional UNESCO World Heritage site.
Here, we immerse ourselves in the unique terroir and witness firsthand the meticulous process of wine production amidst stunning landscapes. Moving forward on our journey, we encounter a series of picturesque miraduros (viewpoints) such as Largo Da Eira Do Moinho De Manuel Antonio Jorge and the mesmerizing Farol Da Ponta De Sao Mateus lighthouse.
Each location offers breathtaking views, allowing us to soak in the natural beauty that Pico Island has to offer. As our exploration continues, we find ourselves standing atop the Miraduro Do Corr'agua, marveling at the panoramic vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see. Captivated by the beauty of the surroundings, we make our way to the enchanting village of Santo Amaro, where our cozy Airbnb awaits.
To truly immerse ourselves in the local culture, we pay a visit to a charming church, where we have the pleasure of meeting friendly locals and experiencing their warm hospitality. As the day draws to a close, we unwind and witness the magical sunset painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
