What an empty feeling when they cancel a show you’ve followed for so long...I played on the floor as my grandmother ironed and watched AW in the early 70’s...they may be silly sometimes, but they become a part of your life’s fabric over time...painful when they’re gone
I remember a friend of mine liked Days of our lives at this time so I started to watch that show Another World followed Days of our lives and I kept the tv on and started to watch Another World right around this time. I found Another World a lot more interesting than Days and continued to watch Another World for about 10 years until I lost interest in it. I liked how this show added a bit of humor in it.
I also watched AW while growing up, my Mom and my niece were big fans. But Mom and I quit in disgust when Rachel started showing interest in Carl Hutchens of all people. And I was so sick of Jake getting away with everything all the time too. But this show has the best incidental music around.
I just love Patricia Hodges as Maisie. What a talent. She's the kind of actress that takes whatever she's given and makes it so real and fun. Also, I love Alma's surprise murder at the end.
MrDaysfan82 I'm still checking through this batch of tapes. I've got some material from later years but so far no more '83. If I find some it will be posted.
Wow! 1983 episodes are very rare. Thank you so much. I'd love to see more episodes from 1983. There's Dawn Benz, known as the "forgotten Sally," probably because she only lasted a few weeks. Anyone remember Beverly Tucker, played by Christine Baranski. I know nothing about her character.
Considering that Anna briefly played Vanessa on GL for 4 months prior to Beverlee as Alexandra, but she did work with Marj Dusay on AMC, as well as Lydia Bruce on "The Doctors", a brief sub Alexandra. .
I always had the biggest crush on Anna Stuart. She looks like Merle Oberon. I followed her from soap to soap as a teenager, and I'm glad that we got all of her episodes of The Doctors. She should have gotten an Emmy nomination for when she revealed in public that Victoria and Marley were her daughters, not sisters.
She's very different as Fran's cousin Marsha on "The Nanny". Ex-husband Chris Rich was also on there, as well as recurring on "Murphy Brown" where he was reunited with Faith Ford who took over as Julia.
+Rowan Smith Terrific actress. Loved her as Alma and then saw her on Broadway with Brian Dennehy in Death of a Salesman many yesrs ago. She was the best part of that performance.
My goodness how Felicia character changed in the coming years..When she was introduced she was so one dimensional and kinda unlikable compared to the great Felicia she became..I stayed with Another World till the bitter end..But watching several episodes from the mid 70’s until the end..There is no doubt for me the best part of Another world were the days focused around the Corey’s Mathew’s..The Frames and Ewing family..and who didn’t love Aunt Liz..I loved the Love family and the introduction of Anna Heche as Vicky/Marley..The love story of Ryan and Vicky but also loved Vicky and Jamie… the famous friendship of Cass and Felicia…Cass and Frankie as well as John and Sharlene..But after the character of Mac Corey suddenly passed and then the loss of Ada..the show was never the same..
You are corrected. I remember watching this episode. Later we find out Jean killed Alma and how. One stabbing victim I actually didn't pity, Alma. Good riddance to one of the creepiest characters.
Any one remember when Jennifer Runyon left? Was Sally off-screen for a week or two before Dawn Benz assumed the role. I estimate Runyon departed in late February 1983 and Dawn Benz debuted in early March. So (thanks to this episode) she lasted until late May. Mary Page Keller took over by 6/8/83 (Perry's debut). Any help would be appreciated
Michael McGavin Runyon left in February of 1983. Mary Page Keller was finishing up a play and was ill for a couple of weeks, so they hired Benz as a temp
Really enjoyed this episode. You can see the glimpses of the "new" AW (Felicia, Cass, Donna, Cecile, friendship over family) that would carry large portions of the show and help form its identity after the show cannibalized its main families. Such wasted potential with Sally and Julia. I wonder if Alma was deliberately made up like Tootsie. Wonderful work from Patricia Hodges as Maisie, rather than taking the easy way out of making her a Flo clone.
I liked the Larry Ewing character - what happened to him in between the Mac Cory funeral service and that of Ada? Clarice had come to Ada's funeral, but Larry was not with her :(
Thanks for posting! For 30+ years I have been wanting to see an episode with Dawn Benz as Sally. She was the one actress in the role that I could find no information for - not even a picture. I wonder why she was replaced after only a few months?
+Ricky Adamson I saw a website of Dawn Benz. I saw she listed a day player on One Life to Live on her resume and saw she was mostly into theater and I believe she lives in Nebraska
+nightowlchad Thank you for letting me know. I wonder why she didn't last very long on Another World? She seemed to do a good job based on this episode.
I remember Cecilia lol. I was just a kid in 83.. 11 yrs old.. but I remember Cecilia and Rachel. The decline of civilization is found in Rachel asking urgently, *what's his number?!* and the girl can just give it to her without consulting anything.. she goes by memory. It's like Magic these days...
I thought Julie Philips was the closest thing to the child actress Cathy Green. She looked like her. It is hard to believe that Julie and Mary Page Keller even played the same role. Julie Philips was a rebel and then when Jennifer came into the role they made her a sweet innocent thing. Sorry Dawn Benz was not a good actress but I see her resemblance to Jennifer Runyon. I guess more the voice. I did like Mary Page Keller. Taylor Miller was the absolute worst in the role and again, how does the dark haired brown eyed Sally Frame become the blonde blue eye? I never understand when they recast roles why they hire another actor the complete opposite.
I hate to say it but I always thought the lady who played Rachel's mother was a terrible actress. I know she was in some movies before soaps but she was just so unnatural
What an empty feeling when they cancel a show you’ve followed for so long...I played on the floor as my grandmother ironed and watched AW in the early 70’s...they may be silly sometimes, but they become a part of your life’s fabric over time...painful when they’re gone
I had an actual panic attack watching the final episode!
Thanks for the upload !! Nice to see Linda Dano made the jump from As the world turns..To Another world !!
Life was much simpler back then. Please come back .
I'd heard of the character Alma. First time seeing an episode with the character in an episode. Thx for the upload.
bmuz, thank you for uploading this wonderful "Another World" full episode! :-)
Loooves Cecile probably my fav villainess in all of daytime!!!
Mine too! You know the only other show I ever saw her on was "The Nanny".
Sharon Gabet as Raven is her equal. They had one brief scene when Sharon played Brittany.
I'm in agreement. Nancy Francione as Cecile was the perfect soap villainess.
She was brilliant!

My mom was a huge AW fan. I was born at 1:40ish EST and my mom always told me that I was born in time for AW. I don't remember a time not watching it.
I just love Patricia Hodges as Maisie. What a talent. She's the kind of actress that takes whatever she's given and makes it so real and fun. Also, I love Alma's surprise murder at the end.
I loved Maisie too. She was filled with warmth and strength.
Same here. Glad to see the end of that horrid Alma.
Spoilers whyyy
Love the classic music cue at the beginning and this is my sixth time watching this classic episode lol
MrDaysfan82 I'm still checking through this batch of tapes. I've got some material from later years but so far no more '83. If I find some it will be posted.
Do ya have May 4 1984.....another classic!
MrDaysfan82 Sorry, no. So far I've just found material from '86 and '89.
Any Classic Carl Hutchins pre 90s would be awesome too!

Awesome - anymore 1983, please post!
Anna Stuart was wonderful as the snobby Donna Love. It would have been great to see Stuart in scenes with Beverlee McKinsey's Iris!
Considering that Anna briefly played Vanessa on GL for 4 months prior to Beverlee as Alexandra, but she did work with Marj Dusay on AMC, as well as Lydia Bruce on "The Doctors", a brief sub Alexandra. .
Thanks. This is extremely rare.

Felicia was one of my favourite characters on Another World.
Plz keep them coming love the videos
Love too see more
That's. Mrs. Kevin bacon playing the original Julia on AW.
Nancy fragionne as Cecile could have been very big in Hollywood if she pushed it she's very good!!!!!!
She's very different as Fran's cousin Marsha on "The Nanny". Ex-husband Chris Rich was also on there, as well as recurring on "Murphy Brown" where he was reunited with Faith Ford who took over as Julia.
I remember watching Cecile on AW in the summers when I was kid in the early 80s. I always loved her!
love the show during its time and era. I wish the volume was louder when the video was uploaded
Holy cow! I remember watching this episode live as a kid. Love it!!! More batshit crazy alma please if you have it!
MrDaysfan82 Yes I want too see the blaine stuiff
Aww Kyra Sedgwick so pretty
I've been looking for this scene for 30 yrs. Where Alma dies .Thank God for you tube
+Mackenzie Corey Alma scared me! Even though the writing was a bit weak, Elizabeth Franz was really creepy as the whacked out Alma.
+Rowan Smith Terrific actress. Loved her as Alma and then saw her on Broadway with Brian Dennehy in Death of a Salesman many yesrs ago. She was the best part of that performance.
+Rowan Smith yes she scared me too. I was 12 at the time. Elizabeth was a good actress but I would be scared of Alma
I loved the way Alma always mispronounced Cecile's name as "Cecil". That made me laugh
Here, here.
Linda dano pre shoulder pads lol
If I remember correctly as a kid...I watched this episode and I am pretty sure that Alama was killed by Jean...who was Larry and Catlin's mom.
yep.
You are corrected. I remember watching this episode. Later we find out Jean killed Alma and how. One stabbing victim I actually didn't pity, Alma. Good riddance to one of the creepiest characters.
@@oceanelf2512 She really was a psycho and really scary.
Nancy Frangione was awesome as Cecile!

we never know what happened to what made that she didn't last to long. For me I enjoyed Jennifer Runyon's performance as Sally
This episode aired 5 days before the release of "Return of the Jedi".
@BruhTV My all-time favorite Star Wars villain.
I strongly dislike Cecile, so watching her fumble around and lose her obnoxious smug cool was a real treat.
@@oceanelf2512 When she was drugging Jamie to make him look like an addict is when I really started to hate her. Great actress.
Gill could be bobs brother from Ryan's hope ..uncanny!!
do you by chance know where I can find July of 87
My goodness,Racheal looks the same in the later episode ,good make over.
who killed alma?
Larry and Blaine Ewing's mother killed Alma.
This Sally (Dawn Benz) isn't that bad! Much better than Jennifer Runyon & Julie Phillips -- but Mary Page Keller is my favorite!
LOLOLUTHER Jennifer Runyon was my all time favorite as Sally
+LOLOLUTHER Oh God, Dawn was horrible ! Mary Page Keller wasn't great - clearly a new actress. Julie Phillips was great
Rowan Smith when I watched Jennifer Runyon was the Sally I watched and she was my favorite. Mary Page was okay. But yes Dawn was terrible
agree dawn was absolutely horrible
