I feel like finding community as a trans person is almost fundamental in one’s life experience, because as the film Disclosure says, “you can’t be in the world, until you see you are in the world.”
It’s sometimes hard to navigate society when it’s guaranteed it didn’t put you in mind and thus isolates you from it. Seeing others like us is so important.
There’s another “trans ancestor” that I know which I love, and that’s James Barry, the first doctor to perform a c-section in Africa. He was a military doctor and was discovered to be trans after his death.

One of the coolest things I've experienced was when visiting the GLBT Historical Society's archives in San Francisco, where I walked in and Lou Sullivans original diaries were out on the table. I had read his book that summer, but seeing all the diaries out made me realise just how much they had to cut!

I've been watching your journey from start to end. They're so relatable, and so important to have up. I'm 34 right now, and just recently "came out" to myself and a few others. I've been looking for content from folks who transitioned years ago, and how their journey has gone. Sometimes its hard to find that type of content. Thank you for deciding to start these years ago!

I love Lou Sullivan! Reading his book really opened up my eyes to my trans ancestors as well.

Wow-this-I just have had your channel cross my path at such a pivotal time. Thank you, thank you, thank you-you matter and your sharing means more than I have the words for. You are an incredible man who’s journey and perspectives have just been such a blessing in my life today. Thank you

    Thanks again. Love the art.
Becoming a Visible Man was an important book for me. Around the same time, I read Max Wolf Valerio's The Testosterone Files, which I highly recommend. It really captured so much of the essence of early transition.

Slo Fox!!!! Your videos have been there for me since the very beginning. A kind of constant background presence over the years of my trans journey, calming, reassuring, helping me make sense of things. Thank you for everything you've done and continue to do. You've made such a massive impact in my life even though I'm on the other side of the world

Allen, I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you. This is such a great video. So much here. I love you, buddy. I hope you know I'm here for you. If you ever want to talk, FaceTime -whatever, I'm here for that Loved so much of this video. We need each other. It can be rough out there. I hope you are feeling much better now & able to see your girlfriend. I appreciate seeing our trans Trail Blazers and ancestors. Also, when I was little I wanted to be left handed, a boy, a farmer and Jewish. I still think about it (recently even). I may seek out some guidance in that area in the new year. Thank you SO much for sticking around and making videos still. It means a lot to me. You are my trans family & someone that helped me onto my own path.
And you look so GREAT! Getting more rugged and handsome;) Take good care, buddy.

Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well! Hope you're able to relax with some soup and see loved ones soon. Thank you so much for sharing your insight and wonderful findings on integral trans and LGBTQ figures. Happy holidays, and I'm so glad you are back for the time being.

Had a really rough day so your video was especially comforting. I too discovered Jamison Green's book recently and have been making my way through it (very slowly because it makes me very emotional), it feels life such an important book and yet seems relatively unknown? Thank you for these updates and what you choose to share. Even though I am in a different place in my journey I always feel like I come out of your videos with something I can relate to in a helpful and positive way.

Thanks for sharing all those trans culture items. I loved the drawing as well as the 'ancestors' photos. I also appreciated the references to the accepting Jewish community. I hope that you experience more of the profound meditation experience that you described.

This is perfect timing for me because I dealt with some harassment walking into the store a little while ago and it shook me but I felt like it shouldnt have so seeing this boost my connection to self again cause pluck that bully

Becoming a Visible Man really is a good book. I read it many years ago when it first came out. Just Add Hormones by Matt Kailey is also a really good book.

Oh that's a nice idea to make your space visibly queer. It's inspiring me to think of how to do that with my own appartement.

Nice, I went through some of her stuff on her website. I found few I liked. Did it ship in timely manner?😅

    • @TheSLOfox
      @TheSLOfox  Рік тому +1

Cool! I don't remember how fast it shipped. One comment about the shipping, though, now that I remember it, is that it was sent in a cardboard envelope that was not strong enough to prevent it from getting a little bent, so that was disappointing.

Also Marsha P. Johnson was not the key person in the Stonewall rebellion. There was no key person. This is a myth that was made up by people who like Marsha P. Johnson, which is understandable because she's awesome, but it's made up nevertheless.
