Pretty sure the reason for Penny’s Pursuit being so much harder for you (even with Premium Plants) are because your plants are so low levelled, the Zombies seem to be around level 11! So maybe it would feel like a regular level if your other plants were level 11 as well!
Fun fact/pro tip: the arena mode is the place where the new plants are released and if you play enough times(grinding), you can even get a free plant such as the Tomb Tangler (this month's new plant. The plant changes each month and you can see what the next plants will be in the end of the plant selection screen) Also: July's plant is always a peashooter (this year we got the mega-gatling) and December is always an ice plant Penny's pursuit is a mode that gives you an opportunity to get an OLD seed packet plant such as zoybean pod for free
Hey Matt, in penny's pursuit the difficulty changes the zombie's level, making them tougher and eat plants faster. To counteract this you need to upgrade plants to higher levels so they deal and take more damage. With high difficulties, it was good call on plants that instakill like Chomper. Toadstool is also a good pick because it has a longer range and produces sun.
Its important to understand the concept of buffs and bruises. Plants under the class with a green arrow next to them will do much more damage than usual. Those are the kinds of plants you should use. Otherwise, calipower is a really good choice. Its also good to obtain more mints. Bombardmint is the best one imo since it causes 3 explosions at lvl 1
The way that it works in arena is that the faster you kill zombies, the more points you get You have infinite lawnmowers and cannot die, since that isn’t what the battle is about. Also, what you said about how technically, they can also get the Gatling pea, *but you’re in the wood league, so it doesn’t apply* Edit: also, the zombies will become progressively op over the round, which is why things usually fall apart at the end

Also premium plants are just straight up op. Fun fact: Originally lost city and frostbite caves were introduced later as higher difficulty worlds. Far future and dark ages came right after wild west, so that's why your frostbite cave plants are farther down than the rest.
@@scp1746 not really tbh, dusk and shadow shroom are the only ones who are "good". SS is so so but it has a good plant food, dusk has the problem with catapulting attacks, i.e it can miss fast targets and has a longer projectile speed when attacking zombies near it, plus it has slow recharge

Matt if you havent noticed yet... you dont need to get the plants for you to use the glitch(you can check the plants that you will get from a world and find it in the book then just press view on map and you can do the first levels of any world)
Hey Matt, plant food does work on lava guava and it’s pretty decent, the plant food effect basically makes it like you just filled the row with spike weeds that will disappear in a small while, basically that. Hope it helps!
Mattshea, if you upgrade the 125 "lightning plant" one (cant remember the name haha) to level 5, it'll cost 100 and is as good as the another electric plant, but cheaper!
I know im late asf but lightning reed falls off fast. In the later worlds the zombies are tankier and with its low dps you wont win. and in vs, the zombies get better over time and the garguantuars are just gonna shred you

Matt- If you do an Arena match in the next week, bring Primal Sunflower, Tile Turnip, and Bowling Bulb. If not, bring Power Lily as well. Make a line and tile the bulbs, then watch them absolutely tear. I’m at level1 and got 5.4M points with it.
Tip:you can press and hold a lawnmower and it will go. Tip:you can drag a plant food into a charging plant in the seed slots and when you let go it will be recharged immediatly
I don’t think the whole getting up in the ranks is gonna work because if you are in the last 3 on the leaderboard you’ll move down a rank and if you upload PvZ2 every week you’ll move down 2-3 ranks every week
tip: try leveling up your eletric pea to lvl 4 or up, it becomes a killing machine and try using the flower plants to teleport zombies back to the start, it can give u more time to your plants to kill them
Hey Matt, don't feel too bad about losing a Lawnmower, as long as you beat the level its all fine (you only get an extra coin for each Mower this isnt endless)
TIP: From my experience its better to invest to sun shroom at enligthen mint combo when running Mega Gatling Pea in arena 2 columns of sun shroom is sufficient enough to plant a few MGP :DD hope this helps
PRO tIP: USE PEAVINE, threepeater, bowlingbulb, mega gatling pea in arena you will get 1,2,3 million score. you can't play penny pursuit in hard mode with low level plant it's too hard
Matt, heres a tip for versus mode. Get two instant sun plants and alot of explosive plants. Itll give you alot of score over your opponent when you just spam explosives.

I remember one day when i played the arena for six matches and won them all, half of them even made me face those with mega Gatling peas(all of those three rounds had only premium plants and I still beat the, by like 50-60k points)

Hello Matt i think you need to level up the plants that slow them down and put back at the start like hurrikale amd other plants that do that and use some plants that stun them (sorry if it doesn't work)
You could've used twin Sunflower for Penny's pursuit and you could've used grapeshot (if you have it) in the wood Ligue (sorry if I said it wrong but you know what I mean)

This is true like it's basically the buffed up enemies in battle cats with the normal enemies becoming one of the strongest
i've managed to scrape by the Penny Pursuit with level 2 or 3 by using the boosts in the zen garden

It’s not just damage that is affected. Recharge, health, damage, and other things can be buffed or nerfed as well
