I was in the last 12 bell QP on the old bells - which was also Grandsire Max! And yes, its one of my favourites (sallies are smart but not necessarily my favourite colours!)
You will be surprised when I tell you this, but I’ve heard Cheltenham were modelled on Solihull which are actually a very good twelve. These would be undoubtedly better if they were 616 hertz instead of 623 Hertz. I think that’s why you think they are a modern twelve, because rings back then weren’t really tuned to concert pitch. Rings such as Abergavenny, Inveraray, Christ Church, Swindon and St Mary’s, Southampton weren’t tuned to bang on Eb or D. I think rings which aren’t tuned to modern concert pitch are much better and more musical to my ear.
- WOW - wonder ful peal and especially succeeded video - thank you!!
Thank you - I am glad you enjoyed! :)
Grandsire on an even number 🙃
We have the same coloured sallies at swillington
I am not surprised my the method Simon and it is your favourite sally colours

For some reason I don't like them - they sound scratchy and out of tune....
I mean they are pleasant enough.... but just another modern ring of 12. I preferred the old bells for definite!
@@simonbellringer changed my mind now... must have been drunk that day.
