I am such a fan of Blondie. Their albums from 99 to current are still so fresh and fun! They truly are on a next level. I owe a lot of my creativity to Debbie and Blondie. So inspiring.
Blondie! Eternal Style, Cool, Artistic chops, and Class. No equal to them. They were the soundtrack to my high school years and beyond. I gush because the're the BEST!
💓 So wonderful, thank you Roots for this wonderful discussion, loooove to see them, ICONS!!! On Soundtracks, I agree with Chris, I felt the same about Dirty Dancing coming out, the album still remains one of my favorite records ever, it was just so good.
Ranchera music in Mexico has the same violin strings found in the tide is high, making it an international smash on Latin radio. Also, alternative radio legend Rodney bingenheimer was instrumental in Blondie's success in the west coast, years before heart of glass or rapture.
Fascinating to hear how things came about. Would be good to hear more from Debbie. She wrote lyrics, sang and directed herself which was the biggest part of the band's stage presence. How did she manage all that?
12:12 to 12:56 and 13:06 is pure facts. Spaghetti Westerns, Lawrence of Arabia, Fist Full of Dollars soundtracks are really top tier music and scores. Simply fantastic writing of music. I love Clint Eastwood westerns too. The music scores are great there I must’ve lived during those eras in a past life lol
Deborah Harry was in a Folk Rock group, in the 60's, called "The Wind In The Willows". Capitol Records 1968. I would like to have known, what her thoughts were, towards the whole Hippie Folk Scene.
Lierr (god that is probably not how her name is spelled sorry i'm dyslexic and only ever heard it ) turning up at the end was hilarious lol , always love her input shame she missed it.Big up all team supreme, all legends. I swear one day i will be on this show. Blondie were and are awesome. Great interview as always.
How random; A Fifth of Beethoven is in like my Top Ten! (Walter Murphy?)

He mistakenly referred to newer members Leigh, Tommy and Matt as original members, omitting Jimmy Destri, Gary Valentine, Frank Infante and Nigel Harrison. C’mon dude.

Right? and where is Laiya and Phonte?
Questlove's intro was spot on. So varied and so tight, with album tracks that outstrip the singles.

Rapture is one of the reasons I fell in luv with Rap. The video of Rapture is one if not the first visuals I saw of Hip-Hop from NYC. Thank you…

Did Tina Marie rap first before Blonde on square biz?
No. “Rapture” was first released in 1980 on the Autoamerican album, the year before “Square Biz”.

It's not a song, it's a music recording product that has been sold.
Debbie looks good here and it looks like she's not wearing a lot -- if any -- make-up. It's a better look for her.
