Freddie seemed so quiet, shy, logical but on stage he really came alive
The difference between Queen and just about all the other groups is that Queen rehearsed. They owned the day and rightfully so.
And sang a medley of songs. Even though only a 20 min slot it felt like a full concert to me.
My friends and I WATCHED Live Aid while it happened. It was so cool. All the best groups were there and it was like a Telethon with Rock and Roll. Queen hadn't been heard from in a while where I was from, but they were the best. That performance got EVERYONE listening to Queen again. It's hard to explain, but we were seeing them in a brand new way. We forgot how good they were.
They are always Brilliant!
My uncle and his 15+ buddy's were all in his pretty small house drinking, watching the whole thing on a 20 in tv, and cheering/singing and my aunt was so annoyed Lol but it was a once in a lifetime event if you enjoyed music.
I’ve watched their Live Aid performance more times than I can count, and have watched this practice performance more times than I can count, and FREDDIE SINGS EFFORTLESSLY, TIMELESSLY AND PUT PERFECTION EACH TIME!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🖤🖤

Saw it on TV, was waiting the whole day for Queen. As they entered the Stage one could feel the magic they put on that day, even on TV.

I adore queen!!! Under Pressure A+ Bowie helped him a lot toward the end. He sang until 2 months before he died ♥️Just think he’d be in his 70s now. To this day Queen is #1!

Freddie will live forever, thru his music he will definitely entertain new generations who wants to get to know Queen especially Freddie’s life. I am so sad that he is gone but lucky to get to know and watch him and queen thru their movie Bohemian Rhapsody. Sings from heart, compose song from experienced, talented. They got it all and no one can beats Queen especially Freddie Mercury.

I heard that Brian May told Freddie not to sing the a cappella part at 1:09:53 because he didn’t think anybody came to London just to see Queen only and that nobody would sing the a cappella part back to Freddie since Queen wasn’t as popular in the 80s as they were in the 70s. That’s why when Freddie starts to sing the a cappella part you can see Brian turning around thinking “Oh shit here we go.” Thank god Freddie proved him wrong.
But they rehearsed everything. Brian had full knowledge before hand what they were doing to do, as they had timed it for the allotted time of 20 minutes.
The best two hours I've had in a long time!!! Freddie forever!!!

I graduated high school in 85. The 80's was the best decade for music, and a time I wish I could go back to all the time. No fans with 70,000 cell phones up in the air, worried more about recording what they are seeing, instead of enjoy being in the moment. No fake artists using auto tune. Back then artists had raw and real talent.

Thank you so much for posting this. It's valuable beyond belief. I could curse some of those networks out, especially MTV, but I guess it's just a little bit too late for that lol. I really appreciate the time you took to compile all of this. Queen still reigns supreme as the best band throughout all of history. I love that they still gig to keep their music and Freddie's memory alive in our hearts. You just don't know what this means to me.

We have to remember. This new generation have seen heard or listened to Queen with Freddie. If they did they would see.the difference. Freddie owned his own show. Raw Freddie was the best people dont know it. They just see Adam and the lite show. Cheerleaders etc.

The Lack of applause by the lame assed American Audience at Vet Stadium made me sad and angry at the same time this must of been Queen at its least popular stage in their Career with the Narrowminded Rock fans of that time I had friends who slammed queen as well but after their Iconic performance from Live aid they became HUGE queen fans LONG LIVE QUEEN FOREVER

Great points. I was there as at JFK a teenager, and really, to be fair it was just put up on a screen, with not much volume. No one really applauded loudly to any of the performances simulcast from Wembley. That said, as a Queen superfan even then, I was rapt with attention. But no one--no one knew "Hammer to Fall." I mean -- I did, but no one else! The fact that MTV actually BROKE FOR COMMERCIAL mid-set tells you everything you need to know about MTV's lameness and Queen's popularity in the US at the time.

@@KevRuz I think it's the higher ups in the company that didn't like them rather than the VJs. Plus they hadn't had a commercial in like 20 minutes at that point in the program.
