Marc I think you’ve made Laco relevant again with this video. That Atacama just hit all my buttons for some reason. Very unique and quite “TACTICOOL”. I definitely need one now. Thanks!
So intrigued I watched a second time, and realized with that bowl shape. There no worry for above or below the wrist bone. Problem solved. Now in my wish list.
I wish they made these smaller. I had one of the Laco Squadron Tundras from a few years back, the previous iteration of this model, same size. The lugs look funny on the bare wrist in my opinion, but are probably quite functional over a wet suit or coat sleeve. Now if they had designed this with a hidden lug system or the ability to transition from these winged lugs to one it would be quite wearable and much more practical as a daily wear.
I would love to see a count up pepsi bezel with the color reversed so red is on the left 9 to 12 . Because red can be synonymous with being critical or almost out , red from 9 to 12 would enable a user to ignore the numbers , and use as a color coded count down bezel if desired . 👍
Hey Mark! You should try a tool Islander, based uppon the "SKX" type, but with a countdown bezel and high contrast numerals. You get my drift! Love your work! Cheers
Very tactical looking watch from Laco. I am unclear on the count-down time markings on the bezel. Is there a white line between each of the 5-minute graduations? Thanks
The lugs are reminiscent of the brushed steel Suunto Core lugs. Also, IMO, 60 click bezels are better than 120 click bezels. I find they have a more deliberate action and so much more satisfying to turn.
Little but good watch company from Pforzheim SW Germany. Did know they do some other models not only flieger watches but did never take a look at their web site. A hint in color and some small vibes of the bayerischer Damasko. Only my humble personal opinion. Nice watch, seems a true tool watch.
Sinn calls a countdown bezel a "pilot's bezel". I didn't realize that a rubber strap invalidated a pilot's watch. I'll have to tell my buddy that his EZM9 with its rubber strap and countdown bezel is really not a pilot's watch afterall. Despite some fancy German certification saying it is. Very much agree with you on the date wheel. Why didn't they make it black with white numbers??
Mark, Will you be making more videos, on all the updates and changes going on with DAMASKO? Waiting to pull the trigger on their [White dial 3 hander] 2021/2022 line. Best, D. From Stl.
I think this is a very interesting watch, and I love the countdown bezel (still trying to find one on a watch I really want). I am not at all keen on PVD. Every PVD watch I have seen has had the finish chipped or scratched off in places. Would like to see this in brushed, unfinished stainless steel. The other issue is that strap. Very boring generic rubber strap and due to the crown at 12 o'clock, you don't have any other strap options. As I said, I do think it is an isteresting watch, but not something I would consider purchasing in its current configuration.
wow awesome watch, I love the lume! definitely a tool watch. I was not aware that is manufactured by a German watch maker. I immediately thought about Sinn watches as I own the U1-fully tegimented and I love my tool diver watch. as always thank you for a great review and very informative as always!
Laco has lots of cool watches. Did you ever consider making a beatup dive watch that looks well used. I just cant get into the dive watches that look like glittery jewelry.
Man your videos are awesome and the honesty behind them. My next purchase will definitely be from you. This may be a little off topic but I was wondering. Can you please, for everyone that owns a Seiko SNXS and do a sapphire replacement. I can send mine. Just let me know how much. Thank you in advance
I know this totally off topic but I was wondering if you (or anyone else for that matter) have suffered the same problem I have always had. I obsess about my watch being out by a few seconds (even with quartz watches) I have had COSC certified quality timepieces - even radio synced and blue tooth synced watches but they are too far removed from the pure essence of what a timepiece should be for me. I have finally found the cure and that is my Steinhart Nav B Uhr with sub dial second hand (non hacking) and a AVI-8 flyboy chrono with a Seiko VK64 that has no running second hand sub dial. You have no idea what a relief it is for me not to obsess how my watch is five or six seconds out. Thanks for taking the time to read this, I'd love to know your thoughts. Cheers. John from Staffordshire England.
I noticed the company deep blue has the same wave dial as your newer watch has. I figured I'd tell you not sure if it's been used in other watches or was something you designed. There military diver 300.
What a great design - the problem with Laco is that they distract me from Sinn... The #67 is a great colour combo. You know what would be good? A green waffle dial. Or maybe turquoise. Yeah.
Hey Mark I don't believe Laco was the first to create this design. There is an independent company called De Bethune which makes very few watches a year, but thh "De Bethune DBS" has the crown at 12 with a similar articulating lug. Of course, it will also run you about $50k. Great video as always.
I have a Suunto Essential with similar lugs. It’s a 50mm watch but with the articulating lugs it wears smaller. Please note that you cannot wear any pass through strap as the lugs will automatically slip under the watch.
Love this watch. Especially the crown at the 12 position. Reminds me of an older Seiko land master as well but like this better despite that ones spring drive
Hey Marc, a quick video idea. I think it would be really interesting to compare the famous Seiko SBBN031 (Tuna) and the Marathon JSAR 46mm Quartz. Thanks.
Have you asked Seiko to let you sell Spring Drive Models? I can’t imagine they would blow out of your warehouse, r/t pricing. I do think they would sell, just not fast.
Really cool, would've been nice if they actually used tritium instead of normal lume for that price though (especially when it masquerades as an all practical field watch). Having been on a night shift for the majority of my own rotation downrange, a watch sitting in a dark room and then living under my cuff for the fews hours before sundown meant that any amount of lume was basically unusable in actual low light let alone 8 hours later at 4 am.
The fact that half of the world uses the decimal comma and half the decimal point is exactly why we should IMHO never ever use either symbol to divide blocks of numbers. The ' works in both systems. 123'456,78 123'456.78
I love the strong utilitarian design. Love the 60-click and countdown. Every bezel should be 60-click. It looks like one-piece NATO straps may not work here.
Hey jeebs glad to see u got the kwality goods in! Lurve the parabole on the case! Laco is smoking hot got some history that design no china made in that! No covid on that bad boy yes bruv you know! German engineering so nice to see 60 click!!!
I can see your I.Q is quite low, but could you at least try and learn to use some punctuation? A few commas would have helped your bigoted diatribe much better.
1st off, I Can't tell you, what to like. That's beyond foolish ! But actually, the "bowl " design is Not intended to compensate for the 46 mm Bezel, on the Case. Rather, It's made to Hug the Wrist; in spite of the Case Not being thin. Only Compressor Designs (as a rule) can remain Thin, and still have 'Dive Specs'. This LACO, has a 500 Meter rating !
"Of course I am a salesman, I am trying to sell this to you"
I like your sincerity, that's why we trust you.
In Mark we trust 👍
Glad I could try to sell you something.
❤Lacto atacama.2- great everything-except the rubber strap buckle& buckle pin looks too fragile for tactical use or am i nitpicking?❤
Marc I think you’ve made Laco relevant again with this video. That Atacama just hit all my buttons for some reason. Very unique and quite “TACTICOOL”. I definitely need one now. Thanks!
That is one of the most interesting designs. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like it!
Nice to see this watch return. I have the original "Laco by Lacher" version, with brushed stainless case and bezel. Great watch.
Very unique. I’m with you on the date colors. Thanks for sharing it Marc! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
You bet
Interesting design! Nice to see that manufacturers try to stand out ... in a good way ;-)
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
A very nice tool watch with unique design, it reminds me Fortis. And you are right it doesn't look oversized on your wrist.
Agreed!
I am loco for this laco ! Thanks for the review .
My pleasure!
Wok with Marc!!! 😂
Very interesting watch. Love the dial and colors. Cool lugs.
Thanks for watching!
Great review of a great looking watch. Thanks.
Good review. I like this Laco.
Pretty cool, tactical vibe to it with the bezel knurling and the indices. I like it!
It's so simple, but so useful. Can't believe no one though of this concept earlier! Cool design, cool watch.
Glad you like it!
Awesome watch. I'm glad Laco brought this design back. This watch is definitely not meant to slip underneath a cuff 😂
Absolutely not
What an awesome and unique design. Just wish I could get over the crooked date window.
LOL
As a teacher who constantly times activities, a countdown bezel is f*cking great. A sinn 104 is my work watch for this reason. The Laco looks great.
Interesting.
Fantastic looking piece - thanks for the video.👍
Welcome!
Looks like a skillet! Cook's watch, especially with a countdown timer!
LOL. It does!
Nice Laco, got the Amazonas from you sometime ago and love it. Seems to be in the same family of Laco's.
Great watch, thanks!
Lugs that really hug the wrist! 🤩
huggies!
Gorgeous watch! I guess Mr Bond should wear it! I own a Laco Spirit of St Louis and man that is a tool watch!
Love the look of this .. definitely not the standard dive watch.
Nope
Interesting video. Regards.
Yes. My Suunto Core has hinged lugs.
Makes a big watch pretty comfy
For sure.
That is a very cool watch. Since you have your own brand I was wondering why no one makes a 100 m day date watch on a budget
That's pretty cool, a very interesting watch.
Yes, it needs a black date wheel! I would like to see more Islanders with black date wheels as well.
I know!
First time seeing a crown at 12 o'clock, awesome. Looks quite comfortable.
It is!
Great watch! Looks like a very serious mission driven designed tool! Not a hint of fashion but the seriousness is beautiful.
It really is!
That lume is 👌👌👌
Would be perfect if the bezel markings were lumed too.
Thanks.
Very interesting design, quite functional. I really like Laco, I have their Aachen and it's one of my favourite watches.
Totally agree!
Very interesting design. Definitely one worth considering.
I think so too!
So intrigued I watched a second time, and realized with that bowl shape. There no worry for above or below the wrist bone. Problem solved. Now in my wish list.
Glad you enjoyed
Cool watch Marc!

Looks like a bath plug from side view...
But the features are very cool.
This is similar to my Oris TT1 Chronograph, it's the reason I love that watch, round aesthetics, a large watch but no lugs 👌🏽
Cool
I like it Nice design Marc
Love the look of the watch & the lugs are a great idea.
An idea for a larger Long Island Watch in the future Mark?
love my Atacama and Tundra...
Sweet pair.
Wow you have me interested in this.
Little but good watch company from Pforzheim SW Germany. Did know they do some other models not only flieger watches but did never take a look at their web site. A hint in color and some small vibes of the bayerischer Damasko. Only my humble personal opinion. Nice watch, seems a true tool watch.
No problem, maybe take a gander
Sinn calls a countdown bezel a "pilot's bezel". I didn't realize that a rubber strap invalidated a pilot's watch. I'll have to tell my buddy that his EZM9 with its rubber strap and countdown bezel is really not a pilot's watch afterall. Despite some fancy German certification saying it is.

That is not right. You could assemble every strap with 22mm lug width. Look at the construction ;-)
Same idea with the "lugless" lugs on the Ciga Design round Michael Young watch.
wow awesome watch, I love the lume! definitely a tool watch. I was not aware that is manufactured by a German watch maker. I immediately thought about Sinn watches as I own the U1-fully tegimented and I love my tool diver watch. as always thank you for a great review and very informative as always!

I sure dig it.
Thanks
Yes, very nice watch. I like larger watches for my 8 inch wrists. 👍
Good choice!
Laco has lots of cool watches. Did you ever consider making a beatup dive watch that looks well used. I just cant get into the dive watches that look like glittery jewelry.
Like OOO? No thanks.
Forget that $1000 job...
That il-67 is soooooo dope!
Lol. Thanks.
An Islander Prospex might be a great idea.
True
How the heck do you replace the strap?

500 metres with a see through back. That's pretty good engineering..👍
Interesting lugs

Bulova has done this lug style
Not saying they are the first, or only. If I gave that impression, sorry!
@@islandwatch Oh no I didn't get that impression, just thought I'd share a similar watch.
Very impressive.
Thank you very much!

the Suunto Core also has that type of lugs!
Hey Marc, a quick video idea. I think it would be really interesting to compare the famous Seiko SBBN031 (Tuna) and the Marathon JSAR 46mm Quartz. Thanks.
Great suggestion!
How much more do you think it would have raised the cost, if they had used tubes?
40%.
YES, we’d finally would be an affordable quartz SKX!
okay, don't pass out!
As an onlooker I would have to agree that a quartz option would be ideal.Tag Heuer give the option.? Autos are a pain in the long run.
@@islandwatch HAQ?
Probably it wears more like a 40 mm with no crown @3. Nice military looking watch

It wouldn't.
Unusual case and lugs indeed. It really looks different to any other watch. 😳
I could have fell for it but 46 mm is way too big for me… 😩
maybe not!
Like the design (simple) and lug variation but 46mm. Not on my small wrist. Enjoy your reviews. Waffle dial on my list.
Right on
the Seiko Landmaster has a similar vertical crown
yup
Very Nice ! This has got to be, my next $1K purchase ! ;-)
Good choice!
So, one-piece NATO/ZULU straps will work on it?
no. It would stand off watch. Need a 2 piece.
You should make a deal with Chris Blackwell and sell your watches in his Jamaican resort.
interesting.
I love the Laco Squad series, but I’m not sure about a 12 o’clock crown
Comfy
I love it
Thanks!
6105s in stock yet?
don't sell them
You get a thumbs up, but the watch is definitely marmite...

PVD in the era of DLC is such a letdown. It's like using mineral instead of sapphire.
DLC is a PVD process, just remember that!
