George Magore, a lecturer of Mechanical engineering at Kenyatta University was the one who tested the car. from his account, he drove it from Nairobi to Nakuru and the army was tracking the journey on helicopters. I interviewed him and have the recording from the interview in my files somewhere.
Had this project taken off, Kenya would have been at a different place. Remember, ALL developed countries have their own automobile industry! I believe at that time of Nyayo pioneer, Hyundai was also just developing their cars. Well, look how far Hyundai is now! Moi had vision but corruption let the Kenyan people down then, as it does now.
Incomptency and corruption = naught . Doom to any country . Do you think All those engineers at the university of Nairobi could not figure out F= ma concept in producing that car ? Biwot and his partners in looting just wanted to creat an avenue for him to siphon those billions not to manufacture a car. And we all saw his happy ending .
True, although if you dive and follow Engineer Sam Onyango story he complains that they mix engineers with casual designers who built the panels and could not configure the moderate weight of the vehicle's.

The idea of good dictators worked in Asia, unfortunately our dictators in Africa were corrupt and beholden to selfish imterests rather than the nation
With proper use of power and guidance we could have been miles ahead in innovation and economic wise, but sadly we are our own hindrance.
