Absolutely! Thank you for your question and having conversation! I will continue to pray and if I get anything, I’ll come back and share with you specifically!! ❤️
Lol RIGHT!? Like I’m gonna do some more research and come back to the comments if I find anything but when I read that part I was like wait….how did they know!? 🤣
Exodus also represents the 9 stages of change that we (I) go through when are going through a transformation. The making of the golden calf is when we go back the way we came, fear and anxieties will send you back into your patterns.
A few books that I have found helpful is Near Eastern Thought, Manners and Customs of the Near East, I have a few different Manners and Customs. These have helped me make sense of some of the difficult passages of the OT. Someone taught me the 8 keys to studying the bible and the 3 prisms to look at it through which was helpful. I can share them if you would find them helpful.
Thank you for sincere thoughts. I’ve definitely been wrestling with this one. I sincerely appreciate it. so when you say violated you mean that this could have been possibly referring to sexual assault and God may want to redeem her by making him marry her ?
Of course! I try not to shy away from talking about the hard things in scripture, even when we don’t know it all or when it doesn’t make sense! He’s the God of all truth and The Holy Spirit is our helper so we can ask and inquire about these things and believe He will answer! And to me the verse is not referring to anything consensual. Again, doesn’t make sense in my human mind but God knew why that was His command so I trust Him.
Well i’ve been trying to figure out if this command was for a situation in which the intercourse was based off mutual consent or if the woman was deceived into sexual intercourse without consent or flat out rape. I understand those times were different for women and men were the providers but i’m trying to wrap my mind around a woman being deceived or enticed without consent and then have to marry the man who violated her im sure I may be misunderstanding the scripture but I haven’t found an answer that makes sense
Ahh yeah this is one of those that I believe we have to keep wrestling with and asking God about because it doesn’t seem to make sense to our human minds or sit well with us but apparently it was happening because it’s in the word. In my just quickly praying and rereading it, the only thing that comes to mind (and I am not at all saying that this is from God, just feels like what I personally can gather) what if it is indeed that she was violated and embarrassed and the way that God instructed them to make this type of situation right and “redeeming” the woman in a sense, was now for the man to not leave her but now to provide for her and make her his wife. I know that’s hard for us to sit with but again, this is one of those verses to keep taking to God and asking Him for the answer we might seek!
Did you learn anything new or need to be reminded of something from today’s study recap?!

Exactly! I always wondered if he told them when he would be back or if there was a certain time he usually came back.

one last question if you don’t mind lol …Do you think God is still using that principle for us today ?
what are your thoughts on exodus 22:16
Hi there! I’d love to hear your thoughts first since it’s a verse that sticks out to you!!
